Dani has always been the kind of kid to be into magical shit. She used to dress up as a witch when she was younger on the daily, not just on her favorite holiday, Halloween. Her mom bought into the obsession, playing along with Dani pretending to cast spells and make potions when she was a child. Never had it occurred to her that there might be a reason why she had an interest in magic beyond just thinking they were cool.
Having an older brother made Dani a little rough around the edges. She’s a little snarky and has a dry sense of humor, but the attitude really came from a place of self-defense. Growing up and thinking magical shit that could be considered a little weird made Dani hold it close to the heart, and Max teasing her about it didn’t really help. Now it’s just become part of her personality and after the shit with the witches happened, she can’t really shake it.
Though it was the beginning of absolute chaos, the Halloween night she shared with Max and Alli when they woke the Sandersons was one of the best nights of her life. It was terrifying but also exhilarating, and it brought her closer to both Max and Allison before all of their memories were wiped. It proved to her that witches and all the things she’d been obsessed with as a child really were real, and that maybe all of the crazy ideas she’d had weren’t all that crazy.
Thackery has been a lifesaver, quite literally, since the fog happened. He’s been the only person Dani’s confided in about her sudden powers coming to life and whatever is going on with the Sandersons now. They’ve both seemed to fall under the category of people the sisters have burned, whether they meant to or not, on the way to the top of New Salem. She’s been trying to figure out what to do with the borders opening and Winifred rising to power, and Thackery’s the only person she can begin to make a plan with.
It’s killing Dani to not be able to talk to Max about her powers and what happened with the fog. She knows he was a lot happier back when he was with Allison. Though they’d always had a bit of a strained relationship since moving back to New Salem, the fog made it worse. Dani misses Max more than anything, but she can’t take trying to explain it again and him looking at her like she was insane.
She’s been trying to drop hints to Allison wherever she can, but it’s hard. Dani’s not sure how to be subtle about things while also remaining anonymous, but she knows Allison had an interest in witches and stuff before their run in with the Sandersons, and maybe the right bit of information will spark something in her.
Acts like she can’t stand Max’s music but actually thinks he’s pretty good as a drummer. Dani listens to his band’s music on her phone and begrudgingly shows up to any shows for “moral support”, but knows the words to every song.
Halloween used to be her favorite holiday, but now, Dani dreads it. She’s terrified of something like the night they woke up the witches happening again, so she stays home and tries to eat candy alone until midnight hits.
Dani enrolled in Amity Park University with the offer for kids from New Salem to join. She took a gap year after high school since her mental health went down the drain after the fog. She’s studying political science to try and figure out how legal it is for Winifred to be in office without actually ever be elected. Dani’s trying to dive into her schoolwork to distract her from thinking about what could happen with the borders open too much.
