Local Election Den Haag
The other day I got a ballet box form to register for my vote. I have lived in The Hague for only 6 months and as I am required to register as a resident, I automatically receive the right to vote. I’m not going to lie, it seems very strange to me that from the moment one becomes a resident they have such power over the situation. Who am I to vote when I can even read the lanuage of the form, I haven’t lived to understand the situation here, I know of none of the candidates, and truthfully I didn’t even know there was an election before I got this post. In addition I am only temporarily here so maybe I shouldn’t make a difference and then bugger off?????
She’s Beautiful When She’s Angry
In the spirit of International Women’s Day, I watched an incredible documentary that shows the story of the women’s movement in America and how it impacted our world. The film uses beautiful archival photographs from the time, that I myself have never witnessed and felt they were extremely powerful and memorable. What a time to be an idealist and a photographer.
The Agronauts
A book by my favourtie author Maggie Nelson, that precisely tells the story of queer families, gender identity and a love that is more than love.
Fauda
Fauda - the Arabic word for ‘chaos’, is an Israeli tv show surrounding the top of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The show is an honest representation of the situation, of course there is always a bias, but for once, negative Israeli actions aren't pushed aside and ignored, neither are common Israeli attitudes towards the situation.
Netflix have recently bought and subtitled the show, take a look :)
Style Like U
A mother-daughter duo with a photography and story telling project, encouraging self acceptance, openness and individuality.
Check them out on instgram.
Yehuda Amichai
I recently received a gift from my parents - a collection of Yehuda Amichai’s poems. Amichai is a national Israeli treasure who writes about the building of the country, the cruelty of the occupation, and the love of the people. )All the poems have been translated to English too). A wonderful insight into the real Israeli society.
When We Rise
When we rise is a tv show, based on true events throughout history regarding the LGBTQ+ fight for human rights, Beautifully made with an important message to my generation of queers.
I cried every episode.
Found In My Aunt’s Toilet
Incredibly real words of Slavoj Zizek. Something to think about criticise.
Old School LGBTQ Activism
Alice Austen, born in 1866 was a photographer who rejected the victorian lifestyle and encouraged independence.
Now, over 100 years later, Austen is being recognised for her LGBTQ activism through her works.

A Brexit Wife Swap
Channel 4′s reality TV program “Wife Swap”, in a Brexit addition that takes strong ‘leave’ and ‘remain’ wives to try and get each to see the others side.
An important watch to understand the issue of classism throughout the UK and how it influenced the referendum elections.
Broad City
The brilliant broad city, written, directed and acted by the fabulous lana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson, is an American TV series that started from a web show. The two women share the insightful and comical existence of being Jewish, feminist democrats in New York of 2017.
