As if we thought Taylor Swift couldn't top her last track Out of The Woods. Boy were we mistaken. 'Welcome to New York' is the new single from Taylors long awaited album 1989. It is also the opening track. Its vibrant ‚ it sticks in your head like an orange and pink combo dress and yet it's good. Its really really good. The song has a Katy Perry 'Waking up in Vegas' feel. Its air‚ y its light and its a song that almost screams at you to dance along in your bedroom too. Its pop but its Taylor and this is something you'll become aware of in the bridge - where she compares her love of the city which never sleeps to her love in a perfect relationship. One she specifies is one with difficulty but at the same time perfect because she wouldn't change anything. Although this single isn't in the same category for its lyrics and metaphors the way Out of the Woods is. The lyrics and the smart play on words is still there. And the anthemy feel of the chorus along with the drum beat hits the mark. Which is why it is not only a great song but also a great opening to what seems like it'll be a great album -Danni
