The purpose of this research was to collect data regarding the implementation of the Orff/Wuytack aproach. Based on the concept of totality, this study investigated the development of cognitive and musical abilities of children aged 6 to 8. A quasi-experimental study was designed, and included 6 lessons for a group of children enrolled at an music program hold by Federal University of Paraná. The collected data were analized by the researcher. Three independent judges analyzed the data to check for reliability. After reflection of the results, they tried to revel characteristics of this system while teaching purpose of music, in the docent action in music education. In conclusion, it assumed that this concept could be adopted as a strategy in music education teaching, observing the context of the application and characteristics of the children. Suggestions for use of the method are presented at the end of the study.
