can you talk more about phil being non threatening? its so true
I think we can all agree that a large part of the ~womanhood experience~ is being slightly uncomfortable my some men, not necessarily in a predatory way but in the fact that we’re aware of the power dynamic. This has nothing to do with anyone’s sexuality or if they would actively harm you, it’s just you’d rather not be alone in a room with a man you don’t know.
However, there are some men that don’t set off your initial discomfort and you just feel…safe? Once again, this has nothing to do with anything sexual as there are certainly gay men who make women feel uneasy. It’s just that feeling of him seeing you as a whole person, that my comfort isn’t a joke or something to be belittled. That he’s aware of why women have to be on guard, and respects that.
Phil has never (to my knowledge) made a joke about r***/hurting women/making them uncomfortable, and people pick up on that. He’s not someone to belittle or negate his primarily queer female audience, despite people outside the community constantly making jabs. He stands up for us, he doesn’t think we’re stupid. He treats us with respect. Which can be a rarity, especially when we’re talking about influencers.
It’s not because of any stereotype he falls into or his sexuality, it’s because his kindness and thoughtfulness literally radiates from him. It’s because every person I’ve ever seen talking about their experience with him, from a professional standpoint to his audience, has commented on how safe they feel around him; how considerate he was. That’s pretty damn amazing.
