Sapphire orbs casually trailed over the projects lined up against the wall, the owner of said eyes mentally cataloging what each project needed in order to be completed. Glasses glinted in the artificial light as the scientist’s sapphire orbs were drawn away from the assembly of incomplete projects to one of the working completed ones.
Muffled footsteps of slipper clad feet made their way over to where the golem had been laid and gentle hands lifted the device to examine it. He felt a spark of inspiration stirring and wondered what tweaks he could make to give the golem a different appearance while still maintaining the functionality.
It’s supposed to be a dove. It’s one of my personal favourites, though that might simply be my penchant for aviary speaking…
Suddenly a memory crossed his mind, the familiar voice of the second eldest Ren bringing a fond smile to his lips even as a slight pang echoed in his heart. It had been a while since he had last spent time with Koumei, the last time being before he had unleashed his anger upon his brother. In his opinion Kouen had deserved what had been inflicted upon him but he nevertheless felt sorrowful and guilty at the pain he must have caused his friend by his actions. He certainly seemed to have a knack for making trouble of some kind for the older male, dragging him around, disturbing his peace… punching his brother…
He likes birds… doesn’t he…
Getting to work, Komui carefully crafted and tinkered until what he was working on had taken the form he had been aiming to perfect… a bird shaped golem. The easy part was out of the way, now came the challenge of actually presenting it to the destined recipient. Komui swallowed nervously at the thought but pushed his doubts aside and made his way over to the Ren abode with determination.
Once the door opened, fortunately revealing the man he wanted to see and not his older brother, Komui didn’t let the other get a word in edgeways before he began prattling away.
“I’m sorry! Well, what I mean to say is that I was thinking of you… I mean thinking what I adjustments I could make and I remembered you like birds so… It’s a golem… it’s like a sophisticated phone that also functions as a global positioning system and well here…it’s for you…”
If Koumei hadn’t seen the black eye for himself, he would probably not have believed anyone would have had the capacity to punch his brother in the face; let alone someone as seemingly incapable of loosing their temper like Komui. But the CEO’s story had confirmed it, and Sphintus’ had only driven the nail further home.
He hadn’t been angry, if anything merely baffled. As much as his brother all but lived on a pedestal as far as he was concerned, if someone like the Scientist had been driven to resort to physical aggression, Kouen had probably deserved it....
Nonetheless he had wanted to hear the story from Komui’s side, was curious more than anything what had pushed the man to that point. It was a burning curiosity but he had known better than to pursue it, not wanting to overstep his boundary; still unsure exactly what it was between the two of them and if it wasn’t his place to reach out about something that had clearly been a rather personal issue...
To say he was rather surprised when the knock at the door of the condo had been the very man who had been haunting his thoughts; would be more than an understatement. After all if he had inflicted physical damage to someone the very last place he’d want to go would be their doorstep. Though of course he’d not had time to even question the man’s intentions before a waterfall of words was pouring from the scientist’s lips; and the perpetually tired redhead had to blink trying to follow the rapid train of thoughts.
“Dr L--- Er, Komui” he quickly corrected his terms as he tried to cut the man off, still not used to the informality that Komui had insisted he use. Though once more he couldn’t finish his attempted interjection before a small metal bird was thrust into his hands. Gold eyes were confused as they lowered to the object, turning it over slowly.
“A phone....?” He repeated, taking in the intricate details of the creation, it’s metal wings ornate as the rest of it. Slowly raising his head, his brow creased, as though unable to wrap his head around the idea that someone might be thinking of him enough to create such a beautiful present without any sort of incentive more than he might like it.
“Why did... I can’t possibly accept such a generous gift. It’s too much! I did nothing to deserve such a thing...”
