// Well, I dropped back in rather late (again). Damn timezone differences.

I don’t wish to repeat anything that everyone else has said. We all know how much Red Thread meant to each one of us. It was more than a roleplay group. It was a place to exchange ideas, a place to make friends. Beneath all the memes and stories, all the drama and laughter was a place of true comfort. Red Thread was more than a masterlist of muses. It was home.

You all meant so much to me. I know in my heart that this is truly not the end. Although this door has closed, many more are open. I’m positive that we will all see each other again.

I would like to take this time to give a lil special ‘thank you’ to the wonderful mods of this group as well as to Soar ( @sophiehattersmovingcastle ), Rinny ( @amwricanbeavty ), Klee ( @friendlyneighbourhoodscientist ), Michi ( @genialsincerity) and Ali ( @heliohaptxhealer ) who were more often than not on the receiving end of my many roleplay shenanigans.

I wish everyone all the best in their individual endeavors. I’m not very active in Skype but do feel free to mosy over my personal or to any of my other roleplay blogs~ I will always welcome you with open arms (and maybe a meme or two)

“Yeah… Unlike some people I don’t have a lot to pack. I came here after all with the intentions of only filling a dorm room” The Egyptian explained, staring down at his bags as they sat around his feet in the hallway, one of them was entirely things for Kukulkan.“Besides” He started, a small smile filling his lips at the idea of seeing his family soon“We’re going home afterall, we can get more stuff there before we keep going”

“Well, I suppose this does give the porters an easier time. How charitable of you~”

Kouen wasn’t one for nostalgia. Remembering the past only made it harder to stay in the present, pushing thoughts of the future even further away from realization. Not to mention the fact that his memories were rather monochrome, filled with seemingly endless days of work. 

But something happened when he met Sphintus.

Unconsciously, he finds himself reminiscing about the smallest things, the simplest gestures shared between them. The thoughts come quietly, naturally in moments of stillness. Little bursts of color in an otherwise dreary timeline.

“... I suppose you’ll have a lot to tell your family when you return.”

❝Alexadra. Alexandra Garcia, but you can call me Alex.❞ She heads over back to the court ❝Hey mijos! We’re going to have an audience, so don’t start getting cocky!❞ Though she knew very well that they will. She looked over at the other, grinning ❝Well hope you don’t mind being alone for a moment, I’m gonna start kicking their ass.❞ She laughed again, light jogging over to the court and soon started playing with the boys once more.

Minutes after the team Alex was in won, but mainly because she picked up their slack since they showed off ❝Break time!❞ She walks over to the redhead ❝So, enjoyed the show?❞

“Miss Alex.”

Kouen is welcomed into the hardcourt, the vast space filled with echoes of young men playing basketball. Despite his initial impression of her, Alex held her own against the other players rather well. If anything, they seemed intimidated by the blonde. She was a rather valuable asset to the team, passing the ball fluidly and scoring several throws once the opportunity called for it.

“That was an amazing show of skill. Well done~” the red-haired man stands up from his seat, a rare smile tugging at his lips.

“Just take the cat, bro.” Of course nobody wanted the stupid, hot dog destroying, cat. Even this dude had enough common sense to avoid it. But, Seo had to get rid of it somehow. She needed peace and quiet - and another hot dog.

Thinking back to that very lame business class she had to take way back in high school. The trick to doing stuff like this was making something seem a lot better than it actually is, if she wasn’t mistaken. And somehow making the other person like it more. Something like that. “Look at this cat though. He looks just like you! It’s like you were meant to be his owner!” That should get rid of the ugly cat.

“Young lady, I can not help but feel rather slighted.”

Kouen stares at the bag of fur, unconscious of the fact that they looked rather similar with scowls on both their faces. No matter how he looked at it, this cat was nothing but a nuisance. It smelled faintly of hotdogs too. What kind of cat eats hotdogs?

Definitely not a purebred one, that much is certain.

“Besides, I simply have no time for a cat. Young ladies such as yourself have better luck with critters like this one. Aren’t furry pets all the rage with the youth nowadays? Something about cheeseburgers and the internet...”

She grinned ❝That’s great, I would have probably stop their training just to run and get something to tend to your wounds.❞ She laughed, catching the ball.

She looked back over to the people and then back at him.

❝Oh boy, you bet they do. They weren’t that strong until I became their trainer.❞ She turned and shot the ball over to the court and into the basket from the distance she was at. She laughed when the boys just stared in shock ❝Just keep playing mijos!❞ She looked at the redhead ❝Wanna watch? I’m sure these boys don’t mind an audience and if they do have someone watching, they might show off.❞ She snickered ❝They’ll screw up if they start showing off.❞

Kouen’s eyebrow twitches.

“I assure you that something like this will not be enough to seriously injure me. I am also perfectly capable of tending to myself in the unlikely chance that it does happen.”

“...Trainer?”

The red-haired man stares at the woman a bit more. She looked rather young to be handling such a serious job but if she was offering then who was he to refuse? It has been a while since he watched a basketball game up close. The mechanics and dynamics of the sport certainly piqued his interest.

“I would love to be adequate distraction for your players, Miss...”

The damn cat had been following her all day. It was probably a stray, considering that Seo had been from one side of the district to the other, and never looked back once. It was very annoying, really, considering she was trying to eat her hot dog in peace.

The cat tried to attack her hot dog, even though she was standing, but it was enough to make her drop it. “Damnit! My hot dog!” Something had to be done about this cat. If it was a stray, might as well give it to someone.

Seo picked the cat up by its armpits, walked over to the closest man and said, “He’s your cat now.”

The damn limo just had to break down today, just when Kouen needed to meet up with an important client. Worse, just as he was walking to the office the same client called to inform him that the meeting was postponed due to some unforeseen circumstances that involved a turkey and an ornate serving spoon (Kouen did not want to know the details).

And so here he was, wandering the city dressed in his finest suit with nowhere else to go. One entire day flushed right down the toilet. Fantastic.

As if things could not get any worse, a strange young lady shoves a rather fat calico cat into his arms.

“Excuse me?”

“I do not have any desire to keep let alone hold such a filthy, flea-bitten thing. And judging from the way it remains complacent in your hold, I would argue that it is your filthy, flea-bitten cat, miss.”

          Anya couldn’t help like feel that despite the open gesture, the stranger had ordered her to accept his gift. Her first thought was that he was used to being in a position of power at least but even so, she was hesitant as she raised her hand to take the pastry from his outstretched one. All sorts of consequence ran through her mind; being poisoned or roofied and the like, until he mentioned his sister.

           “You’re home-sick.” The Russian observed out loud, her face contorting into a cringe for a brief second before she forced a smile and took the pastry from his hand, all the while attempting to bite back her retort - he had just bought her a nice treat and she couldn’t deny that her clothing was a bit…worse for wear.          “Name’s Anya by the way.”

Home-sick.

Having never exactly known a ‘home’ by its traditional definition, Kouen might protest the observation but there was still some grain of truth there. He might not be missing any sort of place filled with memories but he certainly was missing certain people. The slight ache in his chest was proof of that.

“A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Miss Anya. You may call me Kouen.”

“...And I know this might be overstepping certain boundaries but I suggest wearing a thicker coat. The weather forecast mentioned that the winds would be particularly strong this time of the year.”

"Kouen, I need a GPS tracker on Miss. Miura for everyone's sake." Slaps down three manilla folders with the label across it saying "Operation Do Not Lose Azusa."

“What happened to trackers being invasive…? Although since this is Ms. Miura we’re talking about, I suppose this precaution is much-needed. Where do you suppose she is right now?”

A pause.

“You do know we need her to be physically present before we can implant anything, right?”

Whispers of the heart

Approximately three days, two hours, and forty-six minutes.

It had been approximately three days, two hours, and forty-six minutes since Kouen and Sphintus came into an agreement about their state of affairs. ‘Affairs’, of course, in the literal and figurative sense for in the public eye they were nothing more than two separate individuals, two threads never meant to overlap let alone intertwine. But behind closed doors the story could not be any more different.

“The weather looks awful,” Kouen murmurs from his perch by the window, phone held securely against his ear. Despite his words, a small smile tugs at his lips. He can almost imagine the petulant frown his companion is sporting. 

Keeping it a secret was terribly difficult. Kouen was often right in the media’s crosshairs, considering his reputation as one of the most eligible bachelors in the business world. With nary a spot on his record, he was a prime target for various forms of gossip and heresay. If anyone caught wind of his relationship with someone ten years his junior... The damage would be irreparable.

Although Kouen knew the sacrifice and difficulties were not his alone. Sphintus also had to give up a lot of things just so they can be together. Every day seemed like a struggle but it is often the difficult things that end up being the most rewarding.

“Are you sure about this? We can just have a warm night in, have our own private tree lighting...~”

It didn’t seem real.  None of it, not the fluttering in his stomach of excited nerves, the burning warmth of Kouen’s hand over his. It all seemed like the fever dreams he had created in his head as desperate what if to try and save himself from the humiliation that he’d created in kissing the older man that night on his birthday.

And yet, as he turned his hand over to lace his fingers through the red head’s he wasn’t stopped. He wasn’t told no, or pulled away from… Instead all he saw was that ghost of a smile on the CEO’s face and a jolt in his chest at the realization that this was very real….

“I can’t imagine I will…” He chuckled, emerald eyes holding ruby as he shifted closer in the already cramped space. “As long as you don’t take off on me again when the gondola lands” He teased, throwing back to that night on the porch. “Though I think I’d actually chase you down this time…”

Kouen’s gentle smile turns into a more familiar smirk as Sphintus makes him remember that one fateful night. It was a rather embarrassing incident, to be honest, and Kouen would rather not think back on it. Trust Sphintus to bring it up, though. Barely a minute into this relationship and it would seem this young man was already testing him. 

What a cheeky lad.

“... Chasing will no longer be necessary. Mostly because I’ll have you tracked and monitored twenty four-seven~”
