Chapter 68 was amazing. I was in total awe of every panel, and I’ll probably go over the Johann thing and other parts in another post.

What i’m mostly concerned about is the fact in this panel, it looks like Dante is standing on the edge of a Plank.

I hope i’m overthinking it and it’s just random creative choice and not foreshadowing.

(Totally Serious) VnC Chapter 68 Prediction:

Dominique freezes Ogiers hands, acting as handcuffs, drag him backstage and captures him. They question him about the Church and what they’re planning but also to drop their damn grudge with the Dhams. Ogier dgaf and actually enjoys watching them struggle to get info out of him (he seems like the kinda guy to)

Vanitas being the persuasive mf he is, he manages to get some info out of him.

Eventually they send a ransom to the Church because who don’t want some good ol’ money. But instead they send Roland which causes Ogier to instantly be released because Vanitas would rather drop the plans than spend another second with Roland than necessary.

This is very much a joke idea.. but I find it amusing so why not share it with the world..

Something i’d love to see is once Roland dies, (we all know he’s doomed to) that Maria takes over his position as Paladin. Maria clearly means a lot to him, and I’m sure he’d be very happy to have her of all people take his place.

Because in his unit he’s got a bunch of people but he’s clearly closest to Maria and Georges. I’m not sure what would happen to Georges but because of his position of vice-captain he may choose to either retire his position. I don’t want to say he’d die but he’s loyal to Roland so he may sacrifice himself, I don’t see it though.

Yes there’s always the possibility of Georges taking Roland’s position but he just doesn’t seem to fit it in my head. I feel like it would be very satisfying to see Maria in that role.

Maybe it’s just me though.

We KNOW for a fact Society treats women differently from men in VNC. Due to what Vanitas says in Memoire 62:

And we know for a fact Roland is kind to everyone, to the point he inevitably gets broken up because of it over and over again.

Because of this I would confidently say Roland likely doesn’t discriminate, of course he is careful around Vampires but that’s literally due to the nature of his job, if it is duty he will follow it. Therefore he totally would love if a female took his place as Paladin if the worst happened.

This thought is in presumption that the Paladins of the Co-existence/Vampire Eradication faction still have a use after the plot ends. Which I do hope because the Church is a very interesting place but I know for a fact there will be a difference between Human/Dhams/Vampires dynamic from the beginning of the story. As it is a main theme. So it is a case of “we will see”

Yet again it is a silly ramble, just something i’d like to see and some comments to back up why it may be a possibility.

Currently obsessing over the fact both Ogier and Gano have been both seen wearing masks, whether literally or metaphorically.

The only thing i’ve really read this as is that Gano puts on a literal mask to hide his identity, due to the nature of the job he does with the mask on. But even without the mask off, he’s cruel.

Meanwhile Ogier’s mask is very much more metaphorical, he doesn’t literally wear a mask, he just wears it to hide his true emotions: as mentioned he actually bothers to hide them in comparison to someone like Olivier. This means that without this “mask” perhaps Ogier has the potential to be a much better man than what he presents himself as during work. To support this we can see him thinking “Sorry, you guys.” to Johann and Dante. He never says it aloud because the mask is on.

After-all, his life is a stage and he just has to play his part, even if he’s not fond of the role he was casted as. Meanwhile, Gano seems to enjoy the role he was casted as much more: because he’s the same with and without the mask.

Yes I did indeed make the collage using manga panels and used a black and white version of the art from Mémoire 16!

I’ll attach it in case anyone wants it.

I do take requests for these collages as I always enjoy making them! Just keep in mind that it does take me a hot minute to make it.

I accept requests for VNC, Pandora Hearts, Witch Hat Atelier mostly. Although i’ll give my best shot for any others.

I make the collages to be used as wallpapers normally, but obviously they work as banners too.

The one i’ve used as my banner is probably the least overwhelming one and one of my favourites. But I can attach other VNC ones I’ve previously done, (they aren’t the best, most could be done with some tweaks)

Anyone is free to use them as you like, obviously. I just ask you don’t claim to have done it yourself!

This is because it does take me some time to gather the right panels and arrange them.

Ever notice how Olivier’s paladin title is obsidian?

Every other paladin’s title (jasper, bloodstone, sphene, diamond) is a crystal. Contrary to what certain people might think, obsidian is NOT a crystal. It’s an amorphous glass. The magma it’s made of cools down so quickly that there’s absolutely no time for crystals to form.

Now, let’s see what we know about Olivier :

He has a complicated relationship with his father

He expects to eventually be in a marriage of convenience

He could relate to Astolpho’s most rebellious phase of sneaking out and disobeying their parents because he used to do the same

According to Ogier, he doesn’t even try to act like he wants to be a chasseur

When Roland befriended a vampire, he couldn’t care less about his loyalty to the church or his faith. The only thing he was concerned about was Rolland’s safety

All in all, Olivier seems completely indifferent to his position as a paladin, probably even dislikes it. He has no particular faith or an opinion on what he does as a chasseur. Every other paladin has a strong motivation of some sort, be it vampire eradication for Gano, his “role” for Ogier or his faith for Roland. Olivier doesn’t have any. His only reason to be in the church at all seems to be the pressure from his family and the people his attached to (Roland, Astolpho, maybe also Mira). This effectively makes him the odd one out of the paladins, the one who doesn’t belong.

But interesting enough, we seen on Astolopho’s example that titles within the church are inherited. Which means it’s not only Olivier bearing the Obsidian title but probably his whole family. Why would a whole noble family be quite literally exposed as “fakes”? Unfortunately, we don’t know enough to understand what exactly that would mean but for those who read Pandora Hearts, the Nightray family comes to mind.

I find it really great, the way Olivier’s nicknames characterise him. Mira calls him “Romeo” but while the romantic aspect is the most obvious (and while I absolutely adore rolivier) I don’t think it’s what we’re being told with this name. Romeo is a character who was caged by his family and its rivalries, which eventually caused his death. For some with a backstory like Olivier’s it’s definitely not reassuring. It’s like an arrow pointing at him going “your family is not yet done with failing you”

This is why I scowl when people say Olivier is a “boring” character, you just need to piece information together and he suddenly becomes a very interesting character.

So I was re reading chapters 58 and 59 and I noticed Ogier having quite funny expressions in some small panels. I was supposed to only take pics of him in those two chapters but I eventually took pics of those expressions from other chapters too. So here y'all go:

I genuinely adore how expressive Ogier is!!! I would 10/10 say he’s most expressive out of the 6 Paladins at the moment.

Yes there’s Roland who’s arguably also pretty expressive but I feel like Ogier frequently pulls out different expressions meanwhile with Roland he has a set. NO Hate to Roland I love him and his radioactive eyes so much..

Ogier x Gano mentioned too aka my biggest guilty pleasure. I have no other reason to ship them currently other than the way they look at eachother.. I hope to see more of their dynamic.

Y'know the Chaussures being as gay as they are is actually historically accurate.

The number of women doesn't seem to be very big (we only saw 3 women that are chaussures). And in most cases, when there were no ladies, the dudes would go for each other.

Plus the chaussures belong to the church, so there probably exist some homophobia, and when you tell people they can't do or want something, the bigger the chances are that they will do something opposite.

Obviously we know that Ogier hates Charles due to the fact he is in the way of the Vampire Eradication faction. However I believe Ogier hates Charles for letting Astolfo live.

Ogier encouraged Astolfo’s death, seeing it as helping Astolfo so he doesn’t have to be a forced Paladin like himself. Meanwhile Charles encouraged him to live on and use his hatred on the Vampires.

Personally I think Ogier doesn’t mind Astolfo, but rather sees himself in him. A kid with other dreams forced to become a Paladin. After all, he even tells Gano to go easy on him.

Maybe this makes no sense, maybe I’m defending Ogier too much. But Ogier has seriously grown on me lately.

This has been on my mind for a long time, I believe ever since chapter 58 came out, but what's up with the similar appearance between Charles and the teacher?

It may just be an accident or it's just me, but Charles and teacher look very similar.

While they don't seem to share same eye color, both of their eyes are empty, they both are blonde, have their lashes drawn in a similar way.

Of course Charles seems to be a human, but he said that he was once bitten by a vampire. Is there a possible connection???

I'm genuinely interested in what people think, if you have any theories or ideas please comment. I feel like I'm losing my mind over these two.

This is an interesting point, but I assume it’s accidental similarity as Charles mentioned that the strong vampire who bit him had been killed (although not directly stated, he related to Astolfo by having marks left on him by vampires who had died)

There’s always possibility that Germain faked a death but obviously vampires fade to dust when killed as Moreau mentioned, or for the stronger ones, bones left behind as displayed in the catacombs when Noé and Vanitas met Roland.

Yet again the Vampire could be alive as it wasn’t directly stated, I just interpreted it as if the vampire had died.

For the strong vampire, I wanted to say it could be Luna but I have no evidence for this 😭. It would just be cool to see more Luna without Vanitas and Mikhail.
