Ogier and Gano, if you ain’t getting in those Nun costumes, at least discover makeup.

I drew this in like a day the brain rot is BAD now

So I made a slightly disturbing realisation about Noes past, specifically before his teacher picked him up.

TW: trafficking mention

So our first introduction to Noes past comes in the form of Dominique who explains to Vanitas how Noe had been sold on the market as an Archiviste Survivor.

However something that counter acts this is how Noe was found wandering aroind in the human world and had never been to the vampire world till the trafficking incident as far as he was aware.

Implying that the Archivistes were human world dwellers, and the fact that Louis says its still rumoured to be common place for some vampires to take humans to Atlus to sell as labour. Which gives us 2 options.

1. They knew Noe was an Archiviste when they nabbed him.

2. They didn't and found out later.

If we go with the fact of them always knowing then I don't think they ever intended to sell Noe on the markets, that could easily be a lie the teacher came up with, for one i find it hard to beleive a living Archiviste wouldn't be a hot commodity with the vampire population especially given their abilities.

Two Noe implies he wasn't fed everyday at some point.

Three its also implied that he was sold in the human world not Atlus if we take what he says about how it wasn't all that bad, as him speaking about the teacher buying him and not as him realising Domi was on about the trafficking as they were talking about the teacher only seconds before.

Not to mention in chapter 55 we see this breif memory

We see when the teacher first met Noe more clearly with more detail, it could be on audition but given hiw the ground under Noe looks like dirt it wouldn't surprise me if it was actually a circus or a traveling carnival, that Noe was treated more like an oddity given him another connection point with Vanitas.

But the more disturbing part for me isn't the clear damage done to his eye, I think we all talk about that enough, but rather that up close we can see this

Bandages on his neck.

Clearly what ever happend him under the watch of the kidnappers wasn't good, but a part of me wonders if vampires were involved could blood drinking of been common for him?

It would explain Noes reaction when Jean appolgised for forcing Noe to drink his blood, that Noes constant 'its fine!' Behaviour isn't just deflection or denial but because Noe truely doesn't understand how wrong what happened to him was because he was used to it.

No one has ever out right told him what happend to him was wrong and he should be upset yet. So far everything has been eaither played for comedy or just breifly touched on, so it wouldn't surprise me if in the next arc we focus more on Noes inner conflict as he comes to terms with hus teachers betrayel, possibly Revisit the death of Louis from a new lense and explore more in depth Noes own inner turmoil about wondering where he actually came from.

Up until this point Noe has been willfully ignorant of many things, and the way he specifically says

"Do I want to know."

In regards to meeting another Archiviste is very clearly a can of worms he is unsure that he even wants to open. What if he gets his hopes up only for them tk be dashes. What if he learns something he doesn't want to learn. What if the Archivistes aren't good people? Or worse. What if some are alive and Noe was actually abandoned?

I don't think thise are question Noe actively wants answered because if he was abandoned he would be forced to Revisit everything he had been through because of that day he was found in the forest.

The slavery was a deep trauma that Noè never faces which is also dangerous because it makes Noè vunerable around authority figures.

His mind goes on obeying and not rock the boat also when he should.

I think the best example is Ruthver entering in Noè 's room while Noè was sleeping.

That was the beginning of Ruthven's manipolation, he was checking how much he could push Noè's boundaries.

A different person would have kicked out lord Ruthver for violation of privacy and disrespect.

But Noè brushed off and he also accepted to drink a coffee with Lord Ruthven. Despite the fact lord Ruthven had tried to kill Vanitas few days before and hurting everyone in room included Noe.

But Noè 'survival instinct is strongly tied up with be complacent around authoritative figure, also when they violate his boundaries.

Currently obsessing over the fact both Ogier and Gano have been both seen wearing masks, whether literally or metaphorically.

The only thing i’ve really read this as is that Gano puts on a literal mask to hide his identity, due to the nature of the job he does with the mask on. But even without the mask off, he’s cruel.

Meanwhile Ogier’s mask is very much more metaphorical, he doesn’t literally wear a mask, he just wears it to hide his true emotions: as mentioned he actually bothers to hide them in comparison to someone like Olivier. This means that without this “mask” perhaps Ogier has the potential to be a much better man than what he presents himself as during work. To support this we can see him thinking “Sorry, you guys.” to Johann and Dante. He never says it aloud because the mask is on.

After-all, his life is a stage and he just has to play his part, even if he’s not fond of the role he was casted as. Meanwhile, Gano seems to enjoy the role he was casted as much more: because he’s the same with and without the mask.

I know we’re all thinking Johann is the Spider guy but I’m left with hmmm at this dude being the only one looking at Johann, Vanitas and Noé with suspicion when Johann is telling them there’s a spy among the dhams. He’s also not at the theater, as far as I can tell. Is Johann protecting someone else?

Yeah, I was left with the impression that Johann is not the spy/culprit, but that he is aware of who it is and is protecting this person. I don't think his chat with Vanitas and Noé would be so calm otherwise (I might be wrong tho)

However, an interesting detail I just noticed here is that Johann says “a member of their precious family” instead of “a member of our precious family”.

If he's not the traitor, I wonder what's up with this distance...

Does he not consider the spy a part of the family anymore because treason is unforgivable? (And he's only protecting the culprit for Dante's and Riche's sake?)

Or could it be that Johann is loyal only to Dante and Riche and not very fond of the entire “Beehive” thing?

Yeah, that phrasing really does stand out immediately. Johann only being loyal to Dante and Riche is such an interesting through because he was shown to be fiercely overprotective with both of them and he’s the last member of the original dham group. They obviously mean the world to him, considering what we saw in Dante’s backstory. If you look up chapter 65 & 66 in almost every panel where Dante is, Johann is standing behind/beside him. He is literally the guard dog archetype personified. And while dham condition is obviously important to Dante and Riche, with Johann there’s… nothing. Just look at the way he acted with the miel seller. Wanna bet he was going to give him up to the church?

Another thought about the “their family” slip up: maybe Johann simply doesn’t consider himself as a part of it? Maybe he doesn’t believe he deserves it after what he did, whatever it is?

Also no, Johanna’s definitely not the Spider. Even if he is probably hiding something, his nervousness during the confession was genuine.

Besides, why would he even confess? Maybe it’s a super complicated play of some sort but for now I’m thinking Johann really is just a spy. I’d say he either really got scared of Vanitas knowing or whoever he’s spying for made him confess for whatever plan of theirs.

maybe johann did something for protecting dante from altus? If the theory about dante being secret lord Ruthven 'son, there would be catastrophic reactions in altus if it is discovered. Despite pink glasses of noe and domi, alyus is terrible place based on hierarchy, slavery, superiority racial. Dante as son of lord Ruthven is a perfect prawn or problem. Expecially because dante was treated differently from other dhams, his mother didn't love him but she gave him education and safety for a while, like he was a precious investment.

So I was re reading chapters 58 and 59 and I noticed Ogier having quite funny expressions in some small panels. I was supposed to only take pics of him in those two chapters but I eventually took pics of those expressions from other chapters too. So here y'all go:

He may be a villain but he's a very funny villain.

I have actually taken the last two pics, not only for Ogier's expressions, but also Gano's.

Props to Jun Mochizuki for being able to write a villain that's hilarious but also can be taken seriously.
