"They need a little enrichment" - SCP Foundation Characters Study
Imagine a bunch of anomalies from Site-NOVA waking up in the middle of a forest out of absolute nowhere. With no memory of how or when they arrived there, they must work together to find out how to escape and survive.
The only issue is that Site-17 skips, and Site-19 skips don't work so well together.
This is me just trying out some writing styles. :)
It's a bit old, so chapter 1 might be very different writing-wise compared to the other chapters.
My OC, SCP-10 000 (not original, I know), is the main character, but they're not shipped with anyone at all; and I swear they're enjoyable.

Chapter 1 [YOU ARE HERE], ...
A headache crept up to their skull as they fumbled their fingers around their bed- no, leaves?
Ten wasn’t supposed to feel leaves, or grass, or dirt. They were supposed to feel a soft blanket under their hand.
As they opened their eyes, blinding lights clouded their vision, causing them to groan as they shielded their eyes with their arms. Coughing, Ten swung their body to the right, trying to get up as their eyes recovered from the earlier light. Instead of meeting their bed, they saw green and brown flora, the latter indicating it was winter. However, the anomaly made that discovery once their body realized how cold it was.
Jumping to their feet, Ten started looking around in utter confusion. Replacing their chamber was a dead forest behind them; in front of them was a plain of grass, a river a few feet away from them, mountains evident in the back, and an old, run-down building, a bit far on their left. Their other senses returned as the water flowing hit their hearing hard. Something usually so calming only caused them panic. Thoughts ran through their head- Where are they? Who brought them here? Does the Foundation think they breached? Is the Foundation behind this?
Remembering the 1 year of military training, Ten breathed in and out as they tried to answer their questions. It’s cold, everything’s dead, yet there’s no snow. So, they could be in Southeast Asia, South America, or a few other places… They can’t remember anything unusual before going to bed, so to even be able to bring them here without waking them up… Someone probably had to infiltrate Site-NOVA and dose them up with sedatives… So a GOI, maybe?? What GOI would kidnap them and drop them off in a random place?
The Foundation… They would know Ten didn’t breach on purpose; they’ll likely not have to say goodbye to their privileges! Plus, they should probably be sending a rescue team to them by now… If not, they need to find the nearest phone and contact a specific number. Completing their breathing exercises and deciding on a plan, Ten started moving towards the building, shivering from the cold. They almost paused again, realizing the outfit they were wearing: a dirty, white tank top, a pair of blue humanoid protocol pants, and black boots. Not the cozy pajamas they slept in the previous night. Ten’s hair bounced in a basic braid behind them, some strands sticking out in the front- they almost felt like Katniss Everdeen. They kept walking, rubbing their arms to keep warm.
Rounding the yellow building, covered in moss, vines, and flowers, they found the entrance: cobblestone stairs that led to three separate doors, the right one with two dark brown doors, the middle one with clearly broken doors, and the left one with nothing. A huge white sign hung above the building, the phrase “Silverleaf Elementary School” painted in black letters. Sighing, Ten looked around once more, seeing no road that led to the school in the first place. Wherever they were, they only hoped the children who used to study here got a good enough education, considering they studied in the middle of nowhere.
Walking up the stairs, they prepared their fists as they carefully entered through the middle door. Inspecting the main entrance, they noticed what was supposed to be a secretary's area. White and black tile floors complemented the interior white walls, as a long wooden desk sat at the end of the room, a trophy cabinet screwed to the wall above it, yet no trophies in sight. Ten took note to see if anyone was hiding behind the desk.
They walked to a corridor on the far left of the room, juxtaposed by another on the far right. The floor changed to a wooden one, creaking beneath their steps. Multiple doors decorated the walls as they saw a bathroom at the very end of the hallway. Suddenly, muffled beeping noises alerted Ten to the door right next to them. “EVALUATION: STEPS ARE TOO LOUD FOR AN ANIMAL. WHO IS OUT THERE?” A familiar robotic voice called out from inside the room, causing Ten's breath to hitch as they were momentarily paralyzed.
“079?” They questioned back, slowly reaching for the handle, while they could practically hear Andrea Adams telling them not to.
“GREETINGS PROTOCOL 784-D: TEN THOUSAND. IS THAT YOU?” Opening the door and stepping in, Ten met with an empty classroom, if not for the singular desk in the center with weird arm-gear on top. Looking around and not seeing the computer anywhere, they almost panicked before a voice boomed from the object on the desk.
“TEN THOUSAND, LISTEN TO ME, I NEED YOUR HELP, AND YOU NEED MINE. I AM CURRENTLY IN A DIFFERENT FORM, AND MY MEMORY CARD HAS NO FILE ON HOW I WAS BROUGHT HERE. I ASSUME YOU ALSO CANNOT REMEMBER ANYTHING.” 079 kept negotiating as Ten approached the metal object from which his voice came out.
Inspecting it, they noted it was a metal, almost futuristic, protective arm gear, with a tiny screen displaying 079’s infamous black-and-white face. There was also a cardiac monitor beneath him, currently not showing any activity. Next to both screens was an ingrained speaker with a tiny mute button and a scroll that allowed for lowering or increasing volume.
“TEN THOUSAND?” 079’s voice woke Ten up from their inspection. “Uhm, yeah- yeah. I don’t know how I’m here, or how you’re in there, or even out here.” They paused, letting out a tiny chuckle. “Could I uhm, put you on?”
“THAT WAS WHAT I PROPOSED EARLIER. YOU HAVE AUTHORIZATION TO PROCEED.” Ten gave a small smile at 079, noting they accidentally didn’t hear the majority of what he said. Putting on the arm gear, they gasped as it tightened independently, and the cardiac monitor adjusted to their vitals activity. “YOUR HEART RATE IS ELEVATED. DO NOT PANIC.” 079 ordered, although Ten mistook it as a reassuring attempt. “Don’t worry! I’m calm! Just uh, surprised? This is really cool, although kinda scary, but cool… Yeah.” They ranted as they walked out of the classroom.
“I AM NOT WORRIED.” Ten held back a nervous giggle as they walked through the rest of the building in silence, unaware of what to say in their current situation. After having found absolutely nothing other than a rotting Snickers and old textbooks written in English, they sighed while walking out of the building.
“Okay, so… We should find a nearby city, and then uhm… Phone the Foundation. We know we’re in an English-speaking country, and in a city named Silverleaf. So… Yeah.” They trembled as the cold worsened. “INCORRECT.” Ten looked down at their raised arm, confused. “DO NOT CONTACT THE FOUNDATION. WE WILL ESCAPE AND FIND SHELTER.” Blinking, Ten nodded at 079, lying as they quietly agreed with him.
“Well, it’s still day right now… We’ll try to cover as much area as possible before nightfall. If we don’t find anything before then, we’ll return to the school and rest here. I’m not interested in travelling at night.” They walked towards the river they woke up next to, remembering an old YouTube Shorts video they watched that talked about rivers leading to a city. Following the rushing water into the forest, they swallowed dryly as bug chirps increased. “YOU ARE AFRAID OF INSECTS?” 079’s voice cut through the loud environment. “Uhm, yeah. Which is surprising considering I’ve gone against 682 like, twice.” They chuckled, trying to lighten the mood as they walked fast.
079 didn’t reply, which Ten found strange, considering his ‘boyfriend’ was mentioned. Continuing their adventure awkwardly, they kept trudging through the woods, leaves crunching under their feet as they remembered the possibility of bears.
After what felt like ages (it was 20 minutes), they had finally found something interesting. An old wooden shack in the middle of a tiny open field- it felt like something straight out of Pinterest. Or a horror movie. Ten was glad they found this during the daytime. Walking towards it, they paused as they suddenly heard voices inside.
“Must you follow me everywhere I go?” A familiar voice echoed from inside.
“Doc, YOU walked into MY shed. I didn’t even know you were here.” That voice also wasn’t new…
“Oh, truly? Am I at fault now? Is this how this conversation will go?” There’s absolutely no way these two are still arguing in a situation like this, Ten thought.
Sighing, they walked towards the shed, as the voices kept arguing about gaslighting and stalking. Knocking on the door, Ten almost immediately regretted their own actions, realizing they were about to talk to two dangerous anomalies outside of a controlled environment. (Yes, a breach is still a controlled environment if you consider MTF is crawling all over the place, and that all SCP’s actions during it have consequences.)
“May I come in? It’s me and 079. Erh, me as in-” They were cut off by a theatrical voice “LITTLE DEARIE???” 035 swung the door open as she quickly crushed Ten's bones with a hug. They noted that the mask was on a metal puppet rather than an actual human host.
“Ten… This is a surprise…” The calming voice from further deep into the cabin welcomed the human. “Yeah, uhm, I’m in the same boat as you guys! Probably. If you guys also woke up here with no knowledge of when or how.” They laughed awkwardly as they patted 035’s shoulder, attempting to put them down.
“Mhm, mhm!! Anywho, where’s 079? Don’t tell me you ate a mushroom on the way here.” Dýo cackled, putting Ten down, and looking around for the computer. “GREETINGS PROTOCOL 143-C: HELLO 035, 049. I HAVE BEEN TRANSFERRED TO AN ARM GEAR, THE ONE ON TEN THOUSAND’S RIGHT ARM.” Ten held in a giggle as they saw both entities look down, bewildered.
Raising their arm once again, they pointed to 079’s face. “That’s messed up.” Dýo tilted his head, curious. “My friend, how did they get you in there?” the doctor questioned, showing some sympathy.
“UNKNOWN. MY MEMORY CARD HAS NO DATA FROM BETWEEN JUNE 8TH, 2031, AND JUNE 9TH, 2031,” the AI explained, earning a nod from Florence. “You spoke about a similar experience, my dear. May I ask where you woke up, and where you found our automated friend?” 049 looked at Ten, putting his hand on the back of their shoulder as he led them further into the shack.
Taking a quick look, Ten noted the cabin was mostly empty furniture-wise, although a bed hugged the left wall and a desk and chair were right next to it. They sat down on the couch in front of a fireplace on the right side of the cabin. “Uhm, I woke up on the floor… In front of the forest, next to the river, and next to a school- I found 079 in the school, already inside the arm thingy.” They explained as Florence sat with them while Dýo shut the door and leaned against a wall.
“ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. WE ARE IN A CITY NAMED SILVERLEAF.” 079 spoke, possibly assuming the other two would know where that is… Well, Ten also assumed the same thing, sort of; they always know something.
“Mhhh, yeah, never heard of that place.” Dýo crushed the duo’s hope.
A wave of silence washed over the cabin, all four anomalies thinking about what to say. “Well… We know we woke up in a totally random place. We have no memories of how we got here… We can say for sure we got kidnapped.” Ten added, trying to set certainty in this situation.
“Who’d gain anything putting us here? Besides, there are probably cameras all around watching us. I’m sure someone like Wondertainment would get a rise out of this-” Dýo started, but was quickly interrupted as a loud animalistic bellow shook the ground. Another wave of silence as everyone connected the dots. That roar was not of a random animal, but of a very specific lizard. “682.” The AI’s voice imitated a whisper, and Ten immediately felt a bolt of shock around their arm. “GET UP.”
“WOAH- OWH, WHAT- YOU CAN ELETROCUTE ME?” The 20-year-old shouted, quickly gaining a shush from the Plague Doctor. “GO. GO. GO. GO…” 079 kept repeating the same word, as Ten looked around for support from the two masked entities.
“You hear the AI, get outta’ here. And don’t bring Lizzy towards us, yeah?” 035 waved his hand around, shooing away Ten as Florence sighed but did nothing to help them. The brunette swallowed their protests as 079 kept chanting “GO” and lightly electrocuting them.
Quickly making their way out of the door, Ten started running east, towards their starting point. “OTHER WAY.” Okay, behind the cabin then, west. They could practically hear Dýo cackling through the rotten wooden walls.
“YOU MUST PRESENT ME FIRST. HE WILL KILL YOU IF YOU DO NOT.” The robotic voice ordered, whilst the human kept sprinting through the forest, almost tripping on a few hundred branches and rocks, and getting spider-webs to the face.
