Hello there!

I figured I should probably ask someone about this, and you seem to know a lot about pokemon!

So a few weeks ago I was training my Natu ZiZi, and I noticed some kind of pokemon floating nearby. Looks kinda like a T with an eye at the bottom? I'm 80% sure it's psychic type but I'm not sure. Anyways, I decided to keep it and I wanna make sure I'm caring for it right. Anything about it sound familiar?

By the description of it, it seems you found an Unknown!

Unfortunately, there ain't much information 'bout them in general, and most of what's known 'bout 'em is in a scientific manner and not about their care. They don't seem to need to eat or sleep, and lack any battling capabilities. I'd recommend finding a Psychic-type specialist vet (if you don't have it already for ZiZi!) to give it some checkups to see if they can tell you more about its health and maybe some insight on how it ended up so far away from its group.

And yeah, what it's known about 'em is that they hang 'round in very large groups, or "alphabets"! They can't survive alone, that's probably why it approached you and your Natu. It's good that you already have some experience with Psychic types, as Unknowns can sometimes warp reality 'round 'em; but it's mostly done when in large groups. Good luck!

Unown aren't completely lacking in battle capabilities; any given Unown can use the move hidden power when in danger, but that's really mostly for self-defense. I once accidentally stepped on the tail of a Q in the ruins of Alph and nearly got frostbite when it came after me. Entirely my fault, but still, for as docile as they are, they're plenty capable of being just as dangerous as any other pokemon.

Any skilled trainer who says they’ve never been hurt by their own pokemon, even a minor injury, is just outright lying. You will get hurt, you will fuck up, you will fuck up with your pokemon too. That is par for the course, and you will grow from it.

It's true, back before my precious Vileplume evolved, when I was still taking my gym challenge, I took a poison powder right to the face. Thankfully I had some pecha berries on hand so nothing too severe happened, but I had to rest at the pokemon center for a couple days still.

Good morning, just wanted to say I’ve named a female Houndour after you twice (once in Kalos and once when I caught a Houndoom in the grand underground)

And yes, both times the doggo has gone on to win some glorious victories

Aww, how flattering. After Umbreon, Houndoom is the pokemon I've had with me the longest. She's been absolutely wonderful to have around. I caught her back when she was just a houndour and I was just starting my own journey. She was a bit more feisty than I was initially prepared for, perhaps, but I wouldn't give her up for anything in the world.

He mostly keeps to himself, I don't know too much about him outside what I've seen in battle. More quiet than the usual gym leader, but he's certainly impressive, regardless.

It's really not that big a deal anymore. Like I said, I've moved on, and the league is my family now. Dwelling on things like what I deserve will only be upsetting. I'd much rather focus on all the fantastic people in my life now than think back on something so unpleasant.

That's a bit of an interesting way of putting it. I suppose you could say I do, I've been human all my life. I wouldn't say I'm any better at it than anyone else though.

Lance

Lance? He's one of my closest friends. He's a nice guy to have around, especially since he does all the hard work as champion. I probably wouldn't have stuck around with the league as long as I have if there we someone else there. But who's to say, maybe there's some better, cooler guy who could be champion. Not that I can imagine someone like that.

If you do find a better, cooler guy, I think I'd just trust your judgement and let them take the chair. (In fact, I do think you could be Champion yourself someday, if you wanted to be.)

Oh you're too sweet to me. I don't think I'm quite right for the champion role, especially after you've shown everyone what a great champ looks like for so long.

Will's a good friend of mine. Maybe partner in crime is a better way of putting it. I know I can trust him to keep things interesting at the league, and it'll be a sad day if he ever does end up leaving us. I don't know what I'll do without him here.

They're certainly among the coolest of the Johto gym leaders. Morty in particular, it always sends a chill down my spine watching him battle. Falkner never fails to impress either, of course. All our gym leaders are fantastic, really. It makes me happy getting to work with so many people so passionate about everything they do.

Oh, I love that kid. I was a bit worried when they first showed up that their parents were pushing them to be a bug type trainer but no, they're just one of the most passionate kids I've ever met and they've got the freedom and safety to explore that. I'm really happy for them.
