Rustic Bread Recipe

🌻Ingredients🌻

3 & 1/4 cups of bread flour (bread flour is best for making bread but all purpose works too) + a little more for hands and tools when working with dough

2 teaspoon instant yeast

2 teaspoons salt

*Optional* 2 teaspoons sugar (it gives the bread a nice quality)

1 & 1/2 of cool water

In a large ungreased bowl wisk together flour, salt, yeast, and sugar (if you added it), pour in the cool water and gently mix it together.

It may seem dry buy just keep mixing it till all the flour is moistened.

Cover the dough and let it rise at room temperature for 2-3 hours.

Divid dough into 2 equal parts or leave it as one whole loaf,

If you're doing two loaves, shape the dough into somewhat rectangular loaves, place on a parchment lined baking sheet and score the top with a very sharp knife, cover while oven preheats.

If doing one loaf, form the dough into a somewhat smooth ball and place in a dutch oven, score the top with an X, cover while oven preheats. (Bake with lid on Dutch oven)

Preheat the oven to 475, yes that's extremely high but it results in the best crust.

Bake for 20-25 minutes, to check doneness tap the loaf, if it sounds hollow it's done.

Let completely cool on a wire rack before slicing.

*this recipe will give you a chewier bread, but the bread can be softened by lighting warming before eating*
