Scout, for the first time, seemed to actually be interested in the proposition unfolding before him. Still, he needed to know the risks and benefits. “What’s in it for me?”

“Well tarot readings are mostly about knowing yourself better and coming in contact with what your subconscious is trying to tell you.” Sky explained with a smile. “Plus I baked gingerbread cookies this morning so you can have some of those.”

Some of the tension and anger in her dissipated when she saw who she was in front of, not to mention who was currently holding her biceps. “Oh.” The tiny words was said with a breath, a small smile gracing her lips. “At least you’re all in one piece.” Astrid allowed herself a few moments to stare at the other blonde before leaning down to pick up the book. “I think this is yours.”

Sky giggled. “Oh yes, don’t worry. I look fragile, but it takes more to break me. I’m discreetly resilient.” She half-joked, letting her hands linger on her arms a little longer. She looked down and nodded, taking the book from her. “Thank you. How have you been?” She quickly added, not wanting their conversation to end. “I’ve missed you, we should have dinner soon.” The blonde said on impulse.

She took a moment before replying. “He is, I could argue that is in his nature. That’s what makes him wonderful.” Talking about Victor always made Nellie feel a mixture of emotions; he was her oldest friend and the most intelligent, caring person she had ever met– probably would be a fact throughout her whole life. She loved him dearly. “It takes a lot to be complicated in a world that can be so simple… to be unapologetically himself.” Nellie stated with great warmth before reaching out to hold Sky’s hand. “You’re complicated too, and I adore you for it.” She smiled, her eyes full with hope. “I’m sure you’ll have a wonderful time. Where is Mr. Whiskers, anyway?” She questioned as she looked around the area, trying to place the cat and to calm herself after hearing Sky’s words. “Good. I hope paths are kind to him.” Nellie replied with what she hoped was nothing close to nervousness. She decided to focus on the next topic. “I have an idea… do you feel like doing something mildly unexpected today?”

Sky smiled, noticing her friend’s eyes warm up even more as she talked about her friend. “You’ve known him for a long time, right?” Even though she knew Victor and she’d hung around with him before, they weren’t too close. And hearing her describer the boy kind of made Sky want to work on getting to befriend him more too. “Does it? I’d never looked at it that way, but that makes sense. Like, most complications are either very superficial or just momentary horror.” She agreed. She looked down at their hands and intertwined her fingers with Nellie’s. “You’re very complex too and I love you.” She replied happily. “He’s hanging around the house somewhere, there’s a dark aura following him around since last week, he did meow to warn me it will probably rain later.” She updated her. “So even if it doesn’t look it, you should carry an umbrella if you can!” She nodded. “I’m sure they will and if difficulties present themselves he clearly has a good support system.” She grinned. “I’m almost never able to do that, so yes.”

At the mention of warm and fuzzy energy, Tessa glanced around as if trying to find the warm and fuzzy feeling the other blonde spoke about. The only thing she could feel was the waves of electrical energy coming from the various phone devices that were probably tucked in people’s pockets or bags for safekeeping. It almost called to her as if she was supposed to be fusing items together right now, though, Tessa could not understand why the feeling felt so strong suddenly. “There is a feeling of something in the air; I’ll give you that.” She agreed, nodding her head a little. “I’m glad no real harm was done to you or my flailing arms.” She lightly joked, smiling a bit more.

“What brings you here today, stranger? I mean, besides the energy…assuming that’s what brought you here, to begin with. I doubt it was my amazing dance moves.” Tessa lightly chuckled, tucking a bit of hair behind her ear.

Sky nodded, obvious to the other’s doubts. She felt quite replenished after her ritual and couldn’t help but dance a little while they talked. “Oh there definitely is, the moon is shining very strongly tonight and over the key lines too, so the whole town is being replenished.” She replied happily. The blonde giggled. “I love the arm flailing. It will now be my preferred form of dancing.” The blonde shrugged. “I was finishing an energy ritual nearby, I saw there was a warm party here and I felt like I needed to come. So I did.” The explanation was simple and honest, because it made perfect sense to her. “Oh, I haven’t introduced myself. Schuyler, but I go by Sky.” She said happily. “And you’re... something with P? No.. T or B?” She guessed.

“Victor– he, he has the mind of an accomplished scholar and the soul of a well-lived poet.” She explained as it was the simplest thing in the world. “Speaking to him is as if you’ve found a balance between diametrically opposed worlds. I’ve never met anyone like him.” Nellie nibbled on her cookie, stopping in her tracks. “It does?” She couldn’t help the slight strained edge that tinged her words, dropping it as soon as it had appeared as she focused on Sky’s next sentence. “Likewise. Few things are as grand as finding people you can be completely honest with.” She left the cookie down on her plate and smiled at her. “We all had to accept that the last two times we tried to throw you a surprise party.” Nellie chuckled. “As long as they’re pleasant non-surprises!”

“Wow, That sounds... complicated. I mean, I feel like he’s made of opposite qualities then. That’s interesting.” She nodded in agreement. “I’ll run into him tomorrow, if Mr. Whiskers is right. Hopefully we can chat a little.” The blonde nodded calmly. Actually, what she’s seen of Victor’s future hadn’t been terribly nice, but it was a long time to come and she knew it could change. “It’s okay. Paths change a lot, that’s normal.” She tried to reassure her friend, noticie the edge in her voice. “It’s lovely, really.” The witch agreed. She couldn’t help but giggle. “I still enjoyed the whole thing immensely, though.” She replied sincerely. “That’s true!”

Costa Cove (Beach Day)

Tessa found herself enjoying her day away at the beach. She loved the feeling she got when she was there, being on the border of where the ocean meets the land felt like she had found another world on this earth. Above all, she loved the salty sea scent the beach brought, each gust of wind that gently blew and swirled the smell around her reminded her of simpler times, and she selfishly made sure to take in a deep breath of it. She closed her eyes as she felt another gentle gust coming, ready to twirl away with it when it did, and that’s precisely what she did. She spun around for a moment, but then ended up getting lost in the free feeling she was currently experiencing and twirled her way right into a fellow beach lover, or someone who was dragged by a friend, “Whoops! I’m so sorry about that!” She quickly apologized, turning to face the person she bumped into.”I guess I got a little carried away.” She softly giggled, offering a small apologetic smile.

Sky had been working on a ritual on one of the coves by the beach when she’d first heard the noise. The blonde focused on the ritual, burning the necessary herbs and finishing her chants before taking a pause to look out. She saw a mass of people who seemed to be having fun there, probably the start of another bonfire party. So, once the blonde was all done and packed up, she decided to leave her satchel in the safety of the cove and go join the crowd for a while. She’d been looking for a familiar or friendly face when the other girl bumped into her. “It’s hard no to,right?” She replied casually. “The energy today is quite warm... and fuzzy. I like it.”

Astrid had been spending most of her time focused on her studies this semester as she knew she needed the rely on finding a job under Exercise Science–the AU football team took a chance on putting her on the team, but she knew she likely wouldn’t be as lucky with the pros. Now that it was nearly summer, she picked up on her training, running through town. After a few miles, she’d gotten lost completely in thought and turned a corner too quickly, nearly running into someone. Instinct allowed her dodge them quickly, but it took her a few steps to slow down. Astrid took a deep breath and removed her headphones before turning around and preparing herself for a conversation. “You okay?”

Sky felt the need to put her hands up a second before the crash, so she ended up placing them on the other person’s upper arms. in consequence she dropped her book, which she’d been reading as she walked, but all of this didn’t matter to her when she saw who it was. “Yeah, I’m fine.” She said with a smile, brushing some of her hair back, the book forgotten on the floor. “I’m glad to have, quite literally, ran into you.”

“I’d argue he is the rightful owner of the number one spot, his eyes are a faithful reflection of his thoughts and their peculiar depth.” Her mouth watered at the view, going straight in for the snickerdoodle one. “Still, thank you; I always take your words to heart.” Nellie smiled, she thought of how grateful she was for the cool breeze and the shared garden between their stores– as she was for the amazing cookie she got to eat. “You are my number one in surprise visits.”

“Why peculiar?” Sky asked. She liked Victor, she had fun talking to the boy, but she hadn’t gotten to know him much yet. She had a feeling he liked to hold back from people. Except Nellie, they seemed very close. “I see something about him is different, like his future keeps shifting.” She commented. The blonde smiled. “I’m glad to hear that, because I speak from the heart when I talk to you.” A giggle escaped her as she was about to sip her tea. “I wish I could have more surprise visits, but I kind of always guess they’re coming.”

“You have the most profound eyes I’ve ever seen in someone as young as me.” Sky commented happily, passing the plate of cookies to her friend. “Your friend Victor is probably a close second, though.” She admitted, munching on a gingerbread one.

Jane chuckled, slapping the door with excitement. “Ooh, what kind of herbs? I could help! I know loads about all sorts of plants.”

“Really?” Sky asked excitedly, clapping her hands. “That’s amazing.” She pulled out a worn out, tiny notebook and flipped to her latest list. “Rue, angelica, valerian and some white oak bark if I can find one that is willing to let me take a little.” She listed happily.

Jane leaned out of the window, “I thought we could head inland, take a bit of a hike. What’d’ya say, are you coming?”

“Yes!!!” Maybe she sounded a little too excited, but she was eager to get out of town for a bit. “I have a lot of herbs I want to look for.” She said as she happily climbed into the car.

Elena was getting frustrated. No matter how hard she tried she could not control the volleyball the way she wanted to. Distracted, she accidentally hits it in the wrong direction, right towards an unsuspecting victim. “Watch out!” she called.

Sky had the bad habit of walking and reading. Based on her precognitive luck, as her dad called it, her chances of falling or getting into trouble were less than for others, but still very much there. She felt a foreboding urge to step back and moved to the right. A second after she head Elena’s voice and fly by the spot where she had been. “Wow. That was close.”

“Hm?” Gem looked over her shoulder, a pair of stunningly large sunglasses hiding half of her face. She tilted her head back to see Sky under the lenses. “Do you think these are too John Lennon?” She didn’t wait for an answer, “You know what? There’s no such thing as too Beatles.” She tore the glasses off, flashing a brilliant smile Sky’s way as she met up with her at the sunglasses booth. “I think these would be adorable on you, sugar,” she mused, handing her a pair of rainbow aviators.

Sky tried not to giggle at the sunglasses. They weren’t her style but they actually looked pretty good on her friend, even if they were a little too big. “Hmm, I’m not sure. I think I’m biased, my dad is wearing a pair just like that in one of his album photoshoots from the early 80s and that’s all I can think of.” She admitted. “But they look cool on you!” The girl hurried to add. Her hand moved automatically to take the sunglasses as she nodded in agreement to what Gemma had said about The Beatles. “Really?” She asked. All the sunglasses she owned where cheap, big and either brown or black. She tried them on. “How do I look?” She asked, looking for a mirror.

Sky stared at the lavender crown doubtfully. “Are you sure this is fresh? And I don’t see any valerian...” She carefully leaned in to sniff it. “It does smell of mushrooms, though.” She considered buying a crown to hang over her bed, but now that she’d seen her options she was thinking she’d better do it herself. “Gem, what do you th...” Her friend was standing two stalls down. “Oh, I didn’t notice you’d moved on.” She said apologetically, moving towards her.
