When I first saw this I thought it was spam or I had been directed to a bad website, but it's real. Today is July 12th, the day we fight against those who wish to remove and profit off the absence of "net neutrality". ----- Right now and for a long time we have had a set of rules that are called the "FCC's Open Internet Rule" and what the rules to is prevent internet providers like Cox, AT&T, Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Verizon and more of putting artificial speed caps on all websites except for those who pay the internet providers extra, either the website or the viewer. What does this mean? Well, for: #Gamers Well, lets say Steam decided to not pay AT&T, Cox, Comcast, Time Warner Cable and Verizon to become a premium service to those the internet providers serve... Then, AT&T may decide to put a hard monthly data cap on all of it's customers of only 1 GB, Cox and Comcast decided to put a max bandwidth speed limit of 1 mb per second (even if you pay for higher speeds) for game downloads, loading forums, viewing screenshots and online games, then Time Warner Cable and Verizon decide to ban all of it's customers from using Steam, any of it's services, buying any games, etc... All because Steam or you decided to pay monthly to get full access. Kiss you games goodbye! 😘 #Businesses Microsoft decides to pay fees, however this means Microsoft 360, all of it's services/programs and annual fees are doubled for what they are now. Google decides to pay all the internet providers as well. Unfortunately, some business programs decide to pay only for the internet providers that contain the largest majority of their users, so only Time Warner Cable and Comcast since they have the majority of the market share. That means those programs you paid for, website hosting services, website builders, financial programs, POS providers, and even email providers may not be supported under your current internet provider and the ones internet providers that do offer all these services require a higher tier of membership, additional cost, taxes and servicing fees in order to get access to the services and programs you used and loved in the past. That means if you want Trello, Evernote, Dropbox, Expensify and SurveyMonkey are all going to cost a premium, excluding the cost of any their offered paid services... Bummer. 🤑 Start budgeting additional costs now. #BingeWatcher Love Netflix? Hulu? Vemo? YouTube? Me too. However, if the "FCC's Open Internet Rules" are removed you'll have to get a better internet plan because those services are allowed on your current plan. Sorry. 😵 Good thing we have internet radio! Well, only Apple Music because they paid. All the other internet radio services and apps count DOUBLE towards your internet usage (1mb => 2mb)(1gb => 2gb). Good thing we have FM/AM radio and DVDs! 😓😖 #Traveler Going on a road trip? Love picking places to stay that have free internet? Well, you might need to read the "Terms and Conditions". See, before when the "FCC's Open Internet Rules", internet was internet and the only thing you had to concern yourself with was the internet speed. Unfortunately, that was the past, now in the present, getting on "public WiFi" won't always get you the services, website or search results you want because it depends on the internet provider of those offering free (or even paid) internet. That also means if you want to see what is at your next destination while at McDonalds enjoying their "Free Internet", you'll only be allowed to do your research using Yahoo and can only navigate using Apple maps. 😂 Sorry for the inconvenient. ----- Many businesses and companies across the US have put a sign up page on their website or have contributed to the cause. I have put it on my website as well. So we need to stand up and fight. Fight for one of the few things we have left that is truly free, equal, fair and open. #NetNeutrality #NetNeutralityDay #FreeTheInternet #FreeTheNet #July12th #OpenInternet #ProtectTheNet #DarkCometDesigns #LoganKing #DarkComet #FightBack See for yourself below: http://www.battleforthenet.com/july12/
