It’s done, the Portal guitar is finished. There was a problem with the enamel coat destroying the paint on part of the neck. I had to rush to disassemble it, scrape it, sand it, and repaint it in about half the time I needed to do it properly. Finished it at 3am-ish then turned it over to the person running the event at 11am. I’m a little sad the icons on the buttons didn’t show up better with the LEDs behind them, but they were too small to print and I didn’t have enough time to have them printed on card stock and cut them fully out. Regardless of that, they still look decent.
All in all, I’m pretty happy with the result of this project and I hope it raises decent money for the charity event.
It is using an XBox guitar hero 3 wireless controller. Parts designed in Rhino3d and printed on a robo3d r1+
Note: The Portal Guitar went for $175 for the Girl’s Rock charity, with the other artists, the entire event raised over $2000 in an afternoon. Apparently this this went over the projected donations for this quarter for the charity. Good job to everyone involved.
