❀ “Ah- My apologizes good sir, but my first name isn’t Venti… But Melos. After all, I… promised that name to a friend.”
Their gaze softened for a moment, as a small and sincere smile made its way onto their lips. They wondered just how there friend was doing… although they weren’t aware of the fact that… quite a few years had passed. Although they paused for a moment, pale eyes widening a bit.
“That last name… I… knew someone with that surname… But alas I don’t recall thy first name… If I maybe be honest with thee, thoust look like someone I once knew.”
"Oh, my apologizes.”
The association was proving difficult to break, the name and face so synonymous at this point to the winery master. Though coming to learn of Melos’ friend was valuable. He now had a good idea of what was happening though the particulars were still vague.
“And you look like a friend of mine who goes by your surname.”
He nearly stopped himself from speaking further as he knew what he was about to say may be painful. However, the pain of loss was indifferent to timing and was best to be known. “I’m sorry to tell you that I am the last of the Ragnvindrs. If you were acquainted with a member of my family then they have long since passed.”

❀ Helpful and polite? The bard was already enamoured, a soft hum left them as they walked alongside the other. Blinking when the other asked their name, they realized their mistake. They looked towards the other, giving a small bow with elegance and grace before standing back up straight; a small smile gracing their lips.
“Oh my! My mother would be appalled by my manners! It’s not something I wish to banter. My name is Melos. Melos Venti, good sir. I must say it’s quite a pleasure!”
Diluc stopped to watch the bard as they bowed. He was faintly reminded of the daughters brought around the winery during festivals with father eager to call him their son-in-law. His wandering thoughts were cut short by the name. Venti. He had hoped the introduction might have given him some answers rather than breeding more mystery around the bard.
“It’s nice to meet you, Venti. I’m Diluc Ragnvindr, of Dawn Winery.” He watched, curious if his name might be known to them.
WHAT TYPE OF LOVE DO YOU ATTRACT ?
YOUR RESULT: comfort
waking up to the sound of singing chickadees perched on your windowsill by your sleeping lover; giggling by their side as you watch the sky, laying on a picnic blanket with small sandwiches and juice boxes near you; slow dancing late at night to no music in the middle of your kitchen floor. you attract comfort. falling in love with you is like going home. it's like breathing in and basking in the familiarity of it all. those who search for you find that they are at their happiest when they finally find you. your beauty is a breath of fresh air, a painting that soothes, a melody that you recognize. your love is so gentle, so kind, so soft to the touch that it eases the hearts of everyone around you. people find themselves relieved even at the sight of your mere smile, and they don't even know why. you bring warmth to this world, my angel. keep shining.

A specification on headcanons: you can always use my headcanons for a character. The character isn’t mine in the first place and honestly, if you expand on something or incorporate in your own threads, I’d love to read it. It’s just more content at the end of the day. This plays into my rule that you’re welcome to reblog anything from my blog as long as it’s not a thread you aren’t a part of (or maybe a selfie - just use discretion, of course). Also this post isn’t to invalidate anyone who might want to keep their headcanons private, just wanted to let it be known I’m fine with it.

❀ Pale cornflower blue eyes seemed to light up, lightly clapping their hands together. A smile was quick to make its way onto the young figure’s lips as their hands fell to their sides. They weren’t sure what it was about the other… but there was something vaguely familiar… After all it would be hard to forget someone with eyes as vibrantly coloured as theirs- with long locks to match.
“Oh tis wondrous news! Thank ye kind sir, for I shall not forget thy act of kindness. Tis only fair I repay thee in turn no?”
Raising his hand in a sign of polite refrain of the offer, Diluc assured, “There’s no need for such. You are hardly inconveniencing me and all that matters is that you arrive there safely.” He turned and began to walk, expecting the stranger to follow. “The company in and of itself is appreciated.” He was never one for small talk but to have such an enigma cross his path made conversation valuable. “What might your name be?”
❀ Nothing looked familiar to them, a small frown on their lips. Brows furrowing, they carefully walked along the path. After a moment, they decided to approach the nearest person.
“Uhm… excuse me? Can thoust perhaps tell me where Mondstadt is?”
Peering over his shoulder, Diluc was met with the most peculiar sight. He had first assumed it to be his favourite bard hounding him for another drink but their attire was more subdued. Especially strange was their manner. When their eyes met, there no recognition and they spoke as if they were strangers. Perhaps they were.
"You’re heading in the right direction. I was headed to Mondstadt myself...May I accompany you the rest of the way?”

He knew the man wouldn’t humor him much, his dreary attitude and all around regards towards Venti clear. He ponders for a minute, if Diluc didn’t know he was….no had been the god many looked up to for years, would he look at him with same disappointment that he attempted to thinly veil with exhaustion and calmness. Probably not. He knew when people knew you were something akin to a god they hold some form of expectation. As a figure people could look up to for guidance and help. He closed his eyes head throbbing just some the pure intensity of these thoughts, he clearly wasn’t in the shape for that kind of mind power.
“ ‘s ok, I can….walk on my own, put me down!” He declared childishly, a churn deep in his chest. He could walk on his own, his mind declared. He could. He could. “I said..hh..” this time when his head hung low, rather than a heaved he did empty his stomach. The gross sludge splattering against the floor as he sloppily wiped his mouth, shame flooding through his body.
The vomit that cascaded down his back thankfully didn’t reach his high ponytail. That much he was relieved of. He stilled for a moment, waiting for the illness to subside so that his movements wouldn’t further aggravate it. Soon enough Venti’s face was hung over his shoulder, silent but calm. A tender hand came to the bard’s back, rubbing small circles before settling between his shoulder blades. He moved back behind the bar ( mindful not to turn too quickly ) where he reached under the counter, retrieving a dried herb.
“Chew on this. It’ll help with settle your stomach.” His voice soft, lacking any indignation.
thedrunkenbard:
Barbatos was far from a light drinker, relishing in the found freedom the people finally had. He had spent most of his godhood celebrating, downing drinks and being a friend and good story teller among the people as he tells story of his first friend from the life before.
Venti, however was not. He was a man stripped to his bare. No longer a god, only a mortal man who’s ginosis was ripped right from him. Leaving him more vulnerable than he he ever had been. No longer immune from the heavy effects alcohol had, he found the few nights he could afford more than a few cups he would hunching over the bar, mind hazy as he spurts out randomness like any other man.
“Diluc~ to refer to me in such cold terms. It makes me thinks we aren’t…friends.”
Were they? The dark part of his mind piped out. Diluc was not a social man, the closest person who he seemed to even relatively tolerate was Jean, and to an extent, the traveler.
“Oh! I worry not about where I sleep for the wind..hic..carries me to…I forgot the rest..” he lets out a loud laugh fingers drumming against the counter as he tilts his head up lips upturning into a smile feet tapping against the stool. “Do you wish to hear…a..p-poem I wrote! It’s a really good one! I swear! I swear!”
“Let me tell you the ballad about an interesting man. His looks as fierce as the sun! But his personality as dreary as a wooden board! It’s ok though because he has a nice coc-“
The bard doesn’t even finish his crude poem before hunching over and dry heaving his chest heavy as the booze hit hard, mind foggy.
“Mnnn..can I get a…glass to go?”
Diluc stood, patiently awaiting his answer as the bard’s thought fluttered here and there on trifle matters. His arms crossed over his chest, simply taking in the pitiful sight before him but with no real pleasure. In fact, it was the opposite.
Watching the bard battle his sickness sullied some faint happy memory of the stories he had been told of the divine Barbatos. The feeling once caught, left Diluc with a sense of foolishness. He should know by now that reality was far from the fairytales of childhood. And yet there was something pathetically tragic witnessing the holy light that all of Monstandt prayed to reduced to a bard with a dirty tongue. Despite this, he felt no malice but simply heartache.
Pulling on his jacket, he crossed around the bar and hoisted Venti from off his stool ( anticipating only disaster should he attempt the dismount unaided) . With his arms still around the lithe form, he eased the bard’s feet to the ground but as he gradually loosened his hold he felt the archon begin to slide. Sighing, Diluc lifted the man fully into his arms. The flushed face resting on his tasseled shoulder which he expected would be due for a cleaning tomorrow morning should the drunken sickness not pass. The heavy scent of booze, though one he was well acquainted with, nearly made his own stomach turn. He would be mindful of limiting the bard’s consumption.
“Do you think you’d better handle a gallop or trot?” He asked, ignoring the question as he carried Venti to the door.
Diluc’s dull gaze met the sharp honeyed eyes before shifting to the shop the gentleman had been fixated on. It was strangely difficult to maintain the man’s stare, not from any sense intimidation but rather a particular warmth that left the winery master keenly aware of his own coldness. He gave no response to the other. He was clearly a man of esteem but that only concerned Diluc as he considered him ignorant. Monstandt or Liyue, wandering the evening with such an assortment of purchases would only entice the most lowly of strangers. His eyes moved from the shop’s trinkets to the gentle visage, “Shopping alone at this hour is dangerous . . . May I accompany you?”
@geo-archon {sc.}
With the last of the glasses polished, Diluc found little to do but allow his attention to fall upon the drunken bard who lay across his bar. Closing time had passed quite some time ago. Yet he expected the archon to rise and stumble along his merry way. The winery’s master took considerable care to tidying the tavern yet Venti remained, cheek flush against the counter’s wood and finger dancing over the grain’s swirls. How the bard had come into so much coin was not a matter he concerned himself with but it seemed that much to his misfortune, the fallout of the evenings festivities was entirely of his concern.
“It is time you go home, bard. Do you have a bed to call your own tonight or did you drink away your lodging?”
