Regarding that one Dante ask about him strongly preferring big tiddies, does this mean f!Luce has canon big naturals if we didn't choose that she had a boob job?
Makes me think that if you didn’t choose a boob job I will have to bring up breast size in a sex scene…
Ngl and I hope you don't take this the wrong way, I feel like I'm waiting for the penny to drop with ROs like Laz, Charley (maybe Nia, I haven't played her path yet). I can't really explain it.
I get the horror component of these ROs is probably more based on what they've experienced, but I just... can't conceive of a Jude romance without toxicity.
I’m not offended, I’ve cultivated this feeling of course
I did say on the game post for EC that all the ROs are toxic to different degrees. Like all humans. There is no human in the world who is 100% healthy that would require no flaws at all
But I also I’m not aiming to bamboozle the audience. Laz is what you see, Charley is too and so is Nia
I’ve said quite a bit about what they are on the blog. I always aim to be truthful about my ROs so I don’t get people mad when suddenly they do something horrible. Like how many “I totally thought Imre was a nice person until I read your blog” messages have I gotten? More than 10 I’m sure.
Not every RO needs a shoe drop moment. That’s quite repetitive
You’re right in your last sentence. A lot of the horror is from their past and what they’ve been subjected to. It has nothing to do with what they’ll do to an MC that isn’t already obvious.
The ROs for OYHS, for instance, aren’t bad people, they’re just pretty hurt people who aren’t trying to ruin anyone’s life (but their own—most times)
Charley’s big red flag moment is that she’s a liar and a workaholic. She lied to Luce, obviously it wasn’t voluntary, she was doing her job. But that doesn’t mean Luce can’t feel betrayed. Lazlo’s red flag is that he bottles things up and self-flagellates
My ROs fall into either passive or active toxicity I feel
Dante would cause he’s had it done before. You would need to coax Laz to do it. He finds the idea of it uncomfortable he doesn’t think tongues should go near that area
What vibe is Carmen route be? You already said they have 0 respect for Luce as of right now and that it's impossible to end up with her in a FBI route for obvious reasons lol.
Is the plan the route being a "rivals with intense sexual tension" that turns romantic? Like they are competing eachother for the objectives (finding the shitton of money) and playing chess board and starting to respect eachother?
I felt a bit of that in the talk in the escape route. That poison banter that turns aggressive and them trying to understand were it will hurt more to stab the other. But also she kinda playing along with a perv Luce looking at her panties
Oh yeah it’s very much rivals/sexual tension route
Like they’ve been competing since they were younger with clothes. Now I wanted to keep that spirit alive through this new path Luce’s life has taken
Like I want to give off the vibe that these two don’t like each other and actively try to hurt each other but that there’s also some possible attraction there
Luce’s thing is they are someone who is underestimated, has to fight hard to get their place in the world and learns to rely on themself. Sound familiar? From that point Carmen’s respect grows but as respect grows so does the rivalry of Luce “I’m going to take down your family” and Carmen’s “I’m going to take you down first”
Her first sex scene might be hate fucking scene tbh haha they both have alot of frustration and why not take it out on each other? Like it’s giving disparaging remarks during sex
I saw in a previous ask that you fixed this, but when I choose to go with Sam, I still get the END OF DEMO message instead of being sent to chapter 2 on an escaped route (I think that’s what’s supposed to happen?). Is there a fix for this?
Thank you =[,,_,,]:3
Nope
An escaped route hasn’t been entirely written. The previous asks refer to how to get to chapter 2 on a kidnapped route. That’s the only one available right now. If you want that one you’ll have to not go with Sam
When I mean escaped route, I mean it in the context of the kidnapped route. The official first escape route with Charley helping you, is a different matter
*shoves past all the Dante asks crowding your inbox*
Hey so uh, I'm sure this will be explored in the fic and is also possibly spoiler territory, but did Sam even actually care for Luce or was it genuinely all just a lie???!!
Also Luce: Sam when I catch you Sam (aka the Ricky when I catch you Ricky meme...)
I’ve made a poll about this before
Most people believed Sam once cared but not anymore given how bad of a partner and person Luce was and is
Since the game does have pov changes at times, maybe one day you’ll see the whole relationship from Sam’s point of view and what ultimately led to them taking this very drastic measure
Hi jude if it isn’t a spoiler or been asked already can we know a bit more about charley growing up or maybe about her family? And Is charley in touch with her culture or does she ignore it?
Maybe i haven’t seen that much IF’s but i find it really cool you made an Indian woman as character especially a ro i usually never see indians in interactive fictions
sorry for the long message i really love charley
So I don’t want to give a lot away because in the escaped route you find out quite a bit about her family
What I can say is that her father was an important man which is why she was able to study at Oxford and why she was eventually recruited for the FBI
Since the topic came up about these insane peoples type. What is Carmen type?
You have said that Carmen has mysoginistic views on women, that they only have value if they conquer it by "acting like a man". but that translates in her taste in woman? She prefers woman that "act like man" or present themselves that way? Or she goes for more "conventionally feminine" personalities? Does that ranslates in the type of people she finds attractive?
In men the question is similar. she prefers a macho man type or she has other preferences?
She doesn’t like women who act like men. She likes women who look like women. She prefers women to use male violence and think like men in decisions only. Outside of that she prefers women to be like her, feminine. She finds women who wear lipstick, heels and smell like something sugary and sweet to be very erotic
Like she does loathe the personality that can come with femininity not the look itself
She does prefer macho men. Feminine men to her are “fairies” and she finds them stupid cause why would you want to present as weaker and be bullied for it? If it’s a ploy she can respect it but if it’s actually you? She’s baffled and turned off
Not in the 21st century obviously but if I lived in the 60s-70s era, I would (have to) take Lazlo's genre of sexism over the Greco family genre of sexism anyday tbh. Like go ahead boy, carry my shopping bags, bring home money and shoot my opps for me
It’s sad how these were women’s choices throughout most of history tbh
The raging misogynist who could beat you or the guy who pats your head when you say you want to be a doctor
hold on dante loves being used but he SHOT my Luce for it? like I replayed to take Carmens deal but im still holding it against him like he cheated on me in a dream. does he at least think about Luce if he murders them ? begging for crumbs its so hard to be down bad for this man
The thing is it’s very much “my dad and my sister are watching I can’t let them down”
If it was up to him he wouldn’t have minded
He does think about them. Maybe gropes their dead body before they’re buried and maybe he thinks of going to visit them to put up a cross and maybe on lonely nights he wishes he hadn’t had to kill them because he felt such a rush with them
I feel like a lot of writer who jump from one IF to another and never finish any or at least make enough progress in any of their IFs are actually not serious about writing one. They just like the novelty of starting a new project, answering asks and doing smth new. Like you can't tell me you haven't found the inspiration or are able to push through any of your IFs?? If it's because of some personal issue then i completely understand but starting a new IF makes no sense in that case lol
Anyway ngl i dropped a lot of writers because they are flaky and just don't seem genuine in their work.
I do remember one thing. There was this blog for secret IF confessions and someone went there to admit they had a blog, a game post and had readers excited. Then they admitted that actually they never had plans to ever actually write and just liked the feeling of gratification it gave them to be noticed
The amount of rage that filled me with was insane. Not only just using IFs for clout but also the shameless lying to people? The stringing along, making them think you’ll actually write this concept? One of the most grossest things I’ve ever seen in this community and what’s worse that they weren’t delusional, they knew what they were doing was awful which is why they admitted it anonymously
And since they were anonymous we will never know if they had a Patreon or kofi and were taking money too
Like I hardly get into the desire to slap a person but I was so close that day
I don’t know how common that type of tactic is. I like to think most people who don’t progress much on their projects do it out of a loss of motivation and not malicious intent to deceive. It’s not out blind optimism that I think this it’s that many do admit freely that the work load becomes too heavy
I was thinking about this and was wondering your opinion because I find your commentary pretty neat and I feel as though you have experience as you work on several ifs simultaneously.
What's your opinion on if authors who get part way through one if, then stop working on it and start another, and subsequently ignore the original one completely, like ignoring asks and stuff on it, that blog is dead etc, and solely focus on the new one like the original didnt exist?
Idk how to feel because I know as readers, we get the content for free so we shouldn't demand anything but I feel like authors should at least give a heads up or note because it makes readers less likely to read their works, knowing that inevitably itll be ditched for a new shiny thing.
Thank you and have a lovely day!!
Now this a very tense topic in the IF community and for good reason.
Disclaimer: right now I’m not talking about any specific author because my IF intake has gone down so low since I started writing and honestly I can’t remember the IFs I read before becoming an author but I remember the feeling of things. Nor am I advocating for readers to go be assholes to other authors. It doesn’t make anyone write faster and all it does is make you feel good about how much of a dick you are which is lowkey embarrassing, did you peak in high school?
A bit long so let’s cut
I’ve been on both sides so I have known what it’s felt like to want to drop a game and do a new one and I also know what it’s like to love a game and then be devastated when an author just drops it and does another and then another one and etc.,
Like obviously I’ve said before how sympathetic I am to how hard it is to write IFs. I know the behind the scenes. Long hours and draining nights. Your eyes aching from starting at a screen for so long. Then you have to deal with the good and the bad that comes from releasing your work out into the world and people have opinions about it; opinions that can be expressed in great ways and frankly bullying ways. Apart from that life happens, right? As someone who has gotten depression and unmotivated I know what it’s like to feel like you physically can’t go on
But…
It is irresponsible to start a project, drop it and then release a new game, then drop that without word and release another. You owe it to your readers to tell them what’s up. It might be uncomfortable for you but if you don’t want to work on something and wanna do something else then you have to tell them this and not just drop a game post out of nowhere. And also you have to be aware that people will think you’re flaky and not reliable if you constantly start and drop something. They won’t want to read your stuff anymore because they’re starting to see a pattern
Yes, that pattern can be due to depression, burnout and all sorts of other things. No one is denying that someone can’t have valid reasons for jumping around. That does not mean these choices have no consequences. That does not mean you as a writer should get mad when readers are rightfully distrustful of you. Since there is a level of anonymity an IF writer has, you can’t expect people to know what’s going on with you. You can’t expect even the nicest most patient people to want to be there each time you start a new thing that there is a good chance you won’t finish
So my advice is to be transparent if you’re not going to finish something. I don’t have any insight as to why some writers jump around and can never seem to find an IF they actually want to work on long term. That’s why the most simple advice is the one people don’t want to hear: push through it. There is no other way to do it. Obviously sometimes you just fucking hate a project. In that case drop it. But at a certain point maybe look at the reason you keep dropping things and ask yourself, is it that I hate the project or it’s too much work?
Because I’ve felt that way with all my works at certain points. But I find that I love them, what makes me want to drop them is that it’s hard work, not that I hate what I’m doing. That perspective usually helps because it motivates me to continue since I know I’ll love what I have thought up. I want to see it on screen, I want people to see it too.
Like I’ve said there’s is a symbiotic relationship between an IF writer and a reader. We need readers as much as they need us. That relationship a lot of time is built on trust. You lose the trust of a reader, it’s hard to get back.
“this is the not the story of winning over your in laws”
*sadly pushes the home made lunch and the meticulously researched 70s traditional Italian stay at home wife outfit that I was planning on bringing to the prison meeting room to formally greet my new father in law under the carpet*
What are the EC ROs + Sam's opinion on The Godfather movie that came out a year before the game starts? Have any of them watched it? I'm also curious about Antonio's opinion.
Dante: found it slow and boring wanted more gun shootouts
Carmen: liked it but god all the female characters are pathetic
Lazlo: didn’t watch it. He doesn’t like watching crime movies and worse about his life
Charley: watched it. Thought it was accurate. Wouldn’t watch again
Sam: they kept asking Luce is this and that was right. Was enthralled, really
