True. There is a post around that can be summed up as “It’s disgusting that people blame Eve for the first sin.” aka “Of course the first sin is a woman eating.” (a loose paraphrase of what I read). When looking at the text, it’s not correct? That’s what sparked my initial post and it rubbed me the wrong way. (Of course, I could be incorrect on it.)
Yeah, that's a funky thing to say with no other context.
But that kind of is what happened? It isn't so much about eating as it is that Eve /did something she wasn't supposed to/
But the better next step I've been seeing people take is that God never told HER, God told ADAM, who never stopped Eve. So ADAM eating the fruit was the actual first sin.
Posts like that show up cause tumblr is full of teens and young adults using the platform to voice their disagreements with the religion their parents are/were forcing them to be apart of. The “how dare the first sin, be a woman eating” post. Most likely showed up because that person had heard multiple times that women as a whole were the cause of the fall of man. And because they were at fault they are lesser than men and deserve to be controlled by men. Cause the last time a woman had free will she ate an apple and cursed man with her. It’s a very common conservative and sexist view.
That’s not what the text says your right. But that person’s teacher, priest, pastor, or parent did read is as Eve being at fault. Whether it was Adam or Eve’s fault doesn’t really matter. What matters is how that person's upbringing was interpreting it and was they were using that interpretation for. Cause that’s what the person was speaking out about, not the actual text. ((Sorry to jump in like this just hoped to explain a little))
You are fine to voice your view! I totally see your point and actually agree to it. Upbringing does matter in regards to context, but I guess we should also consider people going into this topic with no bias, reading the text themselves, and make their own conclusions. Does everyone have to do this? Of course not, that would be ridiculous. Everyone is free to their choices, but agreeing to anger that at first glance comes from arrogance, that seems concerning.
people should go into the text and read it for themselves definitely. cause it sounds like people are parroting what they’ve heard and then stating what they find wrong with what they’ve heard. Without checking if the text even says that.

Rachel House still voices Grandma Tala, Temuera Morrison still voices the Chief, and Jemaine Clement still voices Tamatoa.
Rob Ruha and Jemaine Clement translated and rearranged the music so that the songs still worked while sung in a different language, which is super impressive.
Also: Air New Zealand will feature the Maori version on their in flight entertainment starting in November!

You know I realized most people don’t know the main story Lion King tells is at least 4000 years old. I’m sure some know it’s based off Shakespeare’s Hamlet. It’s been called Hamlet with lions. But I doubt many people know Shakespear’s Hamlet was a retelling of an Egyptian tale. Specifically the story of Horus verse Set.
In the story, Horus’ father Osiris is murdered by his brother Set. Horus is forced to flee as a child and is raised away from the kingdom. As an adult, he returns and challenges his uncle Set for the throne. There’s a bunch of different challenges written in different versions of the story. But in the end, Horus wins and regains his father’s throne.
That is literally the synopsis of the Lion King. So if you go see this live-action remake remember it’s based on a 4000-year-old African tale. And maybe tell a friend it’s not based on a play written by a white man.
i had NO IDEA that Dreamworks movie about the holiday mascots flopped because all I saw on tumblr was anime renderings of Jack Frost for like a SOLID year
People asking how it could have possibly flopped. I was online back then. It was before Youtube had things set up to flag uploads of full movies. Nowadays you have to put them up in five-minute pieces, mirrored, with the audio heavily distorted and the algorithm is still able to find it and flag it. Now think back to a time before the algorithm a time when a full movie could be slipped into the ad system on youtube by just some guy.
The reason the online community went crazy for RotG but the movie still flopped was because not even two weeks into it’s release in the US. A high-quality version was already on youtube. That video wasn’t taken down in a few hours or even in a few days. Before the algorithm that video stayed up for months. Letting teens online see the movie, fall in love with Jack Frost, and never step foot in a movie theater.
Sure there were issues with the advertising and it was released earlier in Europe. But it could have had larger numbers if the fangirls online were forced to pay a ticket to see the movie. If you look up news stories from the time mentioning the failure of the movie's box office you’ll see that the low numbers were blamed on pirating. Most of which happened through youtube.
