Darkness Rises is now officially closed.

All of our members should know by now, due to a private note they all received, but I wanted to make this post on the main RPG in order to set things in stone and make it all official. We've had such a wonderful, long run with this role play, and again, I'd like to thank each and every person who was a part of the magic surrounding Darkness Rises.

Darkness Rises RPG

The Wizarding World’s Second War ended approximately a year and a half ago, under the impression that Harry had succeeded in killing Voldemort and fulfilling the Prophecy. The world has slowly been settling down into a state of calm in the aftermath of such terror, and Wizards and Witches alike have been struggling to rebuild their lives after the scare that was Voldemort’s nearly successful completion to tyranny. Many have either completed their schooling at Hogwarts and have begun their careers, or dropped out and are finding their way in the world. Around December of 1999, when the Death Eaters finally show their faces and attack, chaos erupts and war rises once more. Now the question is: who will crumble, who will remain loyal to Harry, and who will find the temptation of power more alluring than ever?

May is a very important date in the Wizarding World, as you know...it marks the anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts. And so, quite naturally, we have an event coming up for the beginning of the month of May.

Writing Prompt #5: Dreams

→ Definition: "A series of thoughts, images, and sensations occurring in a person's mind during sleep." [x]

→ Challenge: Dreams: we all have them...and so does your character. Nightmares, fantasies, odd dreams that make no sense; the list seems to go on and on. And out of those unconscious sensations arises a dream so intense--positive or negative--that we can't help but remember every last sordid detail of it. And that's your challenge for this latest challenge: write a drabble  concerning your character's most memorable dream. It doesn't matter if it's positive or negative for your character; it just has to be memorable. There are a plethora of ways you can execute this prompt. For example, you could write your character having the same recurring, memorable dream; you could have your character reflect on their worst nightmare or greatest fantasy; you could even have your character live through their most intense dream to date right now. The possibilities are endless--just be sure to be creative with your drabble! 

→ Deadline: This prompt is due one week from its post date.

As a suggestion, make sure to plan out the premise of your character's most memorable dream before working on your drabble; it may help to brainstorm things that your character could potentially be worried or excited about that are projected into their subconscious mind.

Today is the last official day for the group event, everyone! With that in mind, please try and wrap up any paras/convos you have going on as soon as possible! We'll be posting a bit of a recap after today!

Event #6: Two Sides of a Celebration

What is this event going to be about? "Two Sides of a Celebration" is a bit of a follow-up event from our last one, which took place at Conch Cottage. This event is broken down into two subcategories: a celebration for Voldemort's army and a celebration for the Order.

FOR VOLDEMORT'S ARMY: As a follow-up to Voldemort's post about his followers being rewarded for their success in burning down the cottage, some of the younger members have arranged a party for Voldemort's up and coming followers. The party will take place at Malfoy Manor, and all Witches and Wizards aligned to the Dark Lord are invited to attend. Lord Voldemort himself will not be there, having no interest in such trivial things as parties, but some like Yaxley and Rowle may be in attendance. 

FOR THE ORDER: Though the burning of the conch cottage was a great deal taxing on all members of the Order, perhaps the worst bit of it all was when Ginny Weasley was captured and kept hostage by Yaxley for weeks at a time. Now that she's been safely rescued by one Harry Potter and Hermione Granger, however, the Order is more than ready to celebrate Ginny's return. All members affiliated with the Order of the Phoenix are encouraged to attend, and the party is set to take place at 12 Grimmauld Place.

FOR NEUTRAL CHARACTERS: It's your time to shine and choose which event you belong in. Are you feeling particularly attached to the Order at the moment? Then celebrate Ginny's return. Are you proud of the burning of Conch Cottage and wish to be in attendance at the Death Eater party thrown for it? Then head over to Malfoy Manor. The choice, ultimately, is yours.

So anyone can attend these parties? Yes, veryone! There’s a spot for everyone between the two parties; just make sure your character is attending the correct one.

Will this event be covered by The Daily Prophet? The Death Eater party will more than likely be kept a secret, so if The Daily Prophet decides to cover anything, it'll be Ginny's safe return or the Order throwing a celebration for it.

How long will this event last (in OOC time)? Two weeks (February 5th, 2014 - February 19th, 2014). This will give people time to start and end paras, convos, drabbles, etc.

Make sure to tag all of your starter posts/convos for this event with “darknessrises starter” and “darknessrises event”. Have fun everyone!
