tokoyami has a complicated relationship with dark shadow but they do really care about each other a lot and he wouldn’t get rid of dark shadow if given the opportunity.

‘ You wish to partner… with me ? ‘ He’s surprised. Sero was a popular member of his class, with lots of friends and possible choices to pick for a project partner. He didn’t think he would be at the top of his list, though maybe all of sero’s first choices already had been partnered up. 

‘ I.. am free. I would be honored to be your project partner. ‘ 

“Uh, duh! You’re like super smart, and I bet you’d make the entire thing so much more interesting!” He leans in closer, draping himself over the desk in the process. He also doesn’t get to speak with the feathered fellow often and that was like a sin in Sero’s book.

“Okay! Cool! I was thinking we could agree on a hero we both think is pretty cool. ‘Cause I think it would be rad if we could pick an old school heroes or maybe hero groups like the Wild Wild Pussycats!”

he nods. sero is chatty, which is a good match for tokoyami, who wasn’t much for words. maybe they could balance each other out. he wouldn’t mind if his partner took over the talking for the oral portion of the presentation.

Tokoyami felt immense guilt and shame after the training camp incident, not only because he lost control and hurt his friends and could have killed them, but feeling guilty he was the one rescued from the marble rather than bakugou.

‘ May i... sit here ? ‘ It’s the only seat left available in the busy cafeteria, though he hates bothering a student who looked like he preferred to be alone. Tokoyami was the same way himself. He thought about just taking his lunch back to his dorm, but he didn’t want to be late to training.

he had been lost in his own world, headphones blasting music to drown out the outside world. it hadn’t occurred to him that someone was trying to get his attention until he looked up, blinking and pulling his headphones off his head. heavy alternative music pumped out of the headphones until he pauses the music on his phone, setting them on his desk. 

❛ apologies, sero, were you saying something ? ❜

“Ah, I should have expected you couldn’t hear me over your emo music.” He hums under his breath before shrugging it off. Though, the music choice was impeccable if you asked him.

“Anyways, I was asking if you had a partner for the hero studies project yet? I haven’t paired up with anyone yet and I was hoping you’d be free too.”

He is used to such questions, of course, though the bitter sting of them hasn’t faded after all this time. They’re natural, as any sane person would be concerned about a shadow beast harming them. Dark shadow was dangerous, extremely so in particular environments. His classmates had seen it for themselves in the forest at training camp. 

He wishes to promise todoroki he would never allow dark shadow to harm him, he truly does, but to say such a thing would be a promise he couldn’t keep. 

‘ My goal is to train so i never lose control of dark shadow ever again. ‘ Comes his answer after he’s thought about it for a moment. 

‘ I do not wish to harm the innocent. What happened in the forest was shameful. ‘
