I think at bare minimum all medical professionals need to make sure they are treating patients with more kindness and respect than grifters. if you go to a doctor and they treat you like shit, humiliate you, and send you home without any information on your body or access to treatment, then health-grifters' offers will start to feel more tempting by simply giving the most basic performance of taking you seriously and caring about your well-being. grifters should be condemned for manipulating and exploiting sick people, and doctors also play a role in whether grifts thrive or are successfully identified and rejected. genuine baseline human respect, and beginning a relationship with a patient by earning (rather than demanding) trust, goes a long way.

The wording changes are meant to be subtle enough that people really can mix them up accidentally when they don't have much information!

So when the gender critical movement calls trans women "transwomen", they're hoping for 2 things.

this usage will spread enough among people who don't know any better, to give transphobes the plausible deniability of not LOOKING like a frothing bigot constantly.

the usage grammatically places trans women in a different category than other women; it's changing "trans" from an adjective to part of a noun to make this distinction.

The more we can avoid this usage, the less deniability have transmisogynists have when using it, and the less rhetorical ground we cede to the degendering and misgendering of trans women.

I don't actually think ceding this ground is LESS divisive than pointing it out politely.

Also, not the main point I am assuming but these fuckers are also taking advantage of the fact the internet is both largely english-speaking (aka, to have access to more content you need to figure out how to interact with the fuck-ass English language) and worldwide. using terms like "lynching" and "social murder" to describe a living, breathing trans woman who got her account banned (which she promptly remade at least 5 fucking times) shouldn't be ignored. it needs to be ACTIVELY CALLED OUT. it needs to be THOROUGHLY UNDERSTOOD why this is unacceptable.

trans people of color matter more than your white feelings. it shouldn't be controversial to say that. and if you're in the USA making statements like this, shame on you too! ICE is knocking down the doors of POC left and right, detaining us, shooting us, and you dare compare the experience of POC to a white trans woman who got banned off a fucking social media site?
