“Hello th—” the nation was about to continue when she noticed his hair. “Wow! That’s so pret—Welcome to Taipei! Is this your first time around here?” she asked.
Mei sighed. She was perched on Taiwan’s shoulder and was currently agitated by her owner’s fascination of the man’s hair.
Freed smiled gently. He didn't ask her to complete her sentence, hoping he would find out what she meant later. "Hello," he glanced at the strange pet sitting at the woman's shoulder. "Yes, this is my first time here. I heard a rumor about a drink only this country has and decided I want to try it."

Freed threw the last flower in the trash and then looked around in the room. The bookshelf did look better without the dead plants. He couldn’t remember why he had those, he wasn’t capable of having flowers. Why did he insist on buying new ones? He never had visitors and was always out on missions. The only thing he liked about flowers was the color which meant he could just buy a painting.
Freed stopped his debating over the flowers when there was a knock on his door. He figured it was the landlord so he grabbed the envelope of money and walked to the door. He opened it and was surprised to see Laxus standing in front of him. What Laxus said made him flattered, but he knew it was not by free will that Laxus was offering his help the way he said it.
“Good morning Laxus,” Freed smiled. He had to think of something, he couldn’t admit that he had nothing better to do than to throw out dead plants. “I have to grocery shop if you would like to help,” it bought him time to think of something else. If Laxus was his for the day he didn’t want to ruin it.
Laxus peered over Freed’s shoulder, trying to see into the home he’d never been in. Did he smell flowers in there…? What would Freed be doing with flowers? He wasn’t Evergreen! Unless… “Getting ready for a date, are ya?” he teased, almost entirely convinced this was not the case. This was Freed he was talking about, after all. Still, if there were any such possibility, his loyal lieutenant did deserve a push in the right direction. Maybe that would be his good deed here. “Well come on, then. You’re in charge, and I ain’t getting any younger standing around waiting for you.”
Lighthearted joking aside, Laxus had to cringe internally; were he not forced into this situation, he would’ve sooner gagged himself than act so cheesy. Still, it was Freed… maybe this wouldn’t be as bad as some of the other people on that list.
Freed felt the world around him stop at the question. Where would Laxus get that idea from? “N-no,” he cleared his throat to pretend it wasn't the question that made him stammer. He quickly put on his boots and jacket, grabbed money and walked out. “Let's go!” He said happily and led the way out of the apartment complex. It was a relief to leave the apartment behind before Laxus got more ideas in his head. He decided not to ask where Laxus got the idea, afraid that it would develop into a big discussion that would end with Freed explaining why he would never date anyone.
To leave those thoughts alone he decided to think about food. He did need to buy a lot, his kitchen was like a ghost town. He also had to buy new books, there was one in particular he had read a review about.. Lost in his thoughts he wasn't much of a company, but it didn't take them long to reach the market. He decided to make food the last thing on his list, wanting it to stay fresh as long as possible. So the first store he set eyes on was a body shop. It would be rewarding to take a long, warm bath later. But..
“I have to go in there. You can wait outside if you wish,” he said to Laxus. He was sure a store filled with mostly hair products wasn't the Thunder God's scene and he didn't want to abuse the fact that Laxus had to be nice.

"Are you lost?" He asked. If she was he should help her. "Forgive my manners, my name is Freed. What is your name?"
"Laxus!" Freed greeted the Thunder God with a warm smile.
Freed entered the noisy guild and walked over to the bar. He couldn't find his team anywhere but saw the blonde mage sit by herself. He hesitated before greeting her. "Good evening Lucy," he said with a small smile.
