Kolkai exemplifies the greater majority of human beings in 2373… in that she knows very little about spaceflight. Rockets are the realm of specialists and engineers and spacers. She, like most people, takes space travel for granted. In her lifetime, it has always existed and it has been reliable enough to not lend itself to spectacle. Rockets and spacecraft are almost as much of a mystery to her as they are to your average citizen in real world 2026.

She has a vague understanding of the distances and orbits of planets and moons, only because of the latency they introduce in the mindscape and interplanetary communication. She, like most asteroid dwellers, has almost never seen the naked sky. Her life, though vibrant, is that of the inside of tubeworlds.

And she is perfectly content.
