I feel like there should be a rule against assigning a million and one projects in the last month of school.
It's because everyone likes to push back against the schedules we set and we have to get all we need to done in time. I'm sure you're able to handle it, though.
I Need You {Eric & Ariel}
Ariel sat quietly, waiting for Eric to return, though the silence itself was a curse of its own. Her mind spun around thoughts of Ursula, and Eric, and her father, and what was going to happen now. She couldn’t deny how much Eric meant to her, hell she was pretty sure that she loved him. Luckily Eric returned before her thoughts could spin too crazily out of control, and she took the cup of tea from him with a soft thanks, sipping at it a little as he brushed a piece of hair behind her ear. “You always were the best at calming me down when I needed it.” She breathed quietly, watching him as he moved closer to her. It wasn’t anything new, they’d been close like this before, and it was often one of her favorite things. She leaned into his embrace almost instantly, still holding the tea in her hands and sipping at it slightly. Being near him was already making her feel better, calmer…safer. She’d left home thinking she wasn’t going to see him again, and it had crushed her, even in the short time that she’d had to go without even talking to him she’d begun to miss him.
"Thank you, Eric." She breathed after a moment, glancing away from the herbal liquid in her cup to him finally. She didn’t think she was going to last long without laying everything she was feeling and needing to know all out on the table. She took another sip of her tea before shifting a bit to set it down on the table, leaning back into Eric once it was out of her hands. "I missed you." She murmured, situating her head into the crook of his neck where it had always fit so perfectly. "I didn’t think I was going to see you again…at least not for a while. Not until you had met someone else, and moved on or something…" She admitted, her voice still quiet, her eyes watching her finger as it drew gentle patterns on his chest. "But now you’re here, and…I thought I would know what that means for us, but I don’t…"
It was visibly clear that Ariel was starting to relax and, in turn, Eric was as well. His muscles relaxed, his body molding around hers as she leaned into him. How he wished it could always be this easy, like it had been before. Easy wasn't quiet the right word, but it certainly felt fitting now. Easy was meeting her eyes and giving her a reassuring smile when she finally looked at him. Easy was wrapping both arms around her as she leaned into him again, gently hugging her to him. Easy was admitting to himself how much he had missed her in return. How he wished he was a student, if only to be there for her the way he was meant to be.
Her words echoed his own worries, though he did not have the answer he wanted to give her. Uncertainly was not a feeling he was comfortable with. He had been more forthcoming the first time around, but now he felt something in him hesitating. Eric's eyes lingered on her face, calm on the outside. "There isn't nearly enough time in the world to move on from you," he mumbled, thinking out loud. He focused his mind on the patterns she drew as he collected his thoughts. "That depends on you. I don't want you to get hurt because of me. Being together may be hard for us and I don't want to force you into it, especially not if you could get hurt again."
Oh how much I have missed heat such as this.
Because I actually need this job as much as I hate to admit it.
I'm sure you could get a job elsewhere, in a more tropic location.

this is wonderful, fucking no power and I have to share my tent with a bunch of crazies.
I'm sure they're not that crazy. If they are, you just need to scare them enough that they leave you alone.

I Need You {Eric & Ariel}
Ariel leaned into the press of his lips to her forehead, letting the touch soothe a piece of her nerves, though silent tears still fell from her eyes. She was scared, she knew what Ursula could do — and it was no doubt that she could do even more here, as an authority figure, a teacher. “Eric…” She thought about protesting, about telling him there was nothing he could do but she thought differently at the last moment and walked a different path. “Please be careful, okay? She’s…ruthless.” She nodded a bit when he told her she should sit down, following him over to where she could sit, and plopping down on the couch. She thought about his offer for a moment before nodding softly. “Yes please. If you…whatever you have is fine.” She thought about asking if he had some of her favorite tea — a tea he’d actually gotten her to try — but didn’t want to be difficult, so she thought differently of it — once again.
"I’m sorry to show up at your doorstep a mess like this…" She offered after a moment, realizing that she didn’t really know where she stood with Eric anymore, not after the article about them getting release, her father sending her off, and him [supposedly] losing his job [which she still felt guilty about]. Part of her wanted to ask where they stood, but another part of her that was afraid he would say what they had was over was holding her back; she didn’t want to face that fact if it were true, not yet. But somehow she knew that if she lingered at his place for a while tonight, she’d end up asking.
It didn't take him long to boil the water and make a cup of tea, returning to take a seat next to Ariel as he handed it to her. He hadn't gotten much of a chance to stock up yet, but he hoped the one kind he did have would be good enough. It was his own favourite and it managed to calm his nerves when he needed it, and he could only hope it would do the same for her. "It's fine, I'd rather you come to me than stress about it on your own." Eric reached forward, tucking her hair behind her ear. He knew how he would have comforted her before, before she had been sent away and before he had lost his job. Before, when they could be together.
The easiness of her relationship was gone now, replaced with uncertainty. Despite all of that, he moved closer to her, gently putting his arm around her waist. Regardless of what was and wasn't between them, nothing had stopped him from caring deeply about her. At the very least, he would help her when he could and keep an eye on her. Another thing he would do was deal with Ursula. He should have better luck dealing with the woman than the younger girl would, or so he hoped. "You can say as long as you like, alright? As long as it takes to feel better." He placed another kiss on her forehead, staying by her side to provide any comfort he could. It wasn't how he wanted to help her, but the ground between them was uneven and he didn't want to push her, especially not now when she was so shaken.
It doesn’t seem overwhelming quite yet, but that might just be because it’s my first day.

Lost Again
"That’s very true." Tulio hummed, taking the offered hand with a friendly smile. "Tulio Losada, it’s a pleasure to meet you." he gave his hand a short but firm shake before resting his arms on the bar, tapping slightly at the wood. "…So this might sound a bit strange, but please tell me you know this city well. I’m lost."
He returned the firm hand shake, his hand resting on the bar once it was released. Eric took a quick gulp of his drink before his attention could change to the topic at hand. "Well enough, depends where you're headed."
They’re tedious for me. I don’t understand why we need standardized testing at all. It’s never effective. That’s the plan, otherwise I’ll figure out some other way. I mean I haven’t got pretty fish to woo them with. Damn. That could have made me show up to class.
They want everyone to be at about the same level, I suppose. Not that it works. Good luck to you, I don't think I could handle literature. Different interpretations, students disliking or not understanding the works. Science is simple, straight forward. I'm sure they'd be on the screen, but it's not something I could pull off if we're talking live creatures.
I Need You {Eric & Ariel}
There weren’t enough words to express how relieved she was when the door swung open to reveal Eric, and even less available to describe how she felt when he pulled her into him. Her arms immediately wound around him, her head nuzzling into the crook of his neck, her face hidden there as she let herself fall apart completely. She let him guide her face away, so that he could cup her face between his warm hands, his thumbs carressing her cheeks and offering comfort that she desperately needed. “U-U-Ursula’s here.” She managed, even thinking of her making her cringe. Why had she made a deal with the woman in the first place?
Right, because she had desperately wanted to be with Eric. “She’s h-here, and she s-says that she still o-owns me. I thought she w-was done with me, when she ratted u-us out!” She sobbed, her breathing ragged and shallow, and making it hard for her to get all the air she actually needed. “She’s h-here, why is she here?!”
Eric searched her face and her eyes, trying to figure out what had her so upset and what he could do to make it better. It tore his heart in two to see her like this. The name that rang from Ariel's beautiful voice was anything but pleasant. Though Eric hadn't had the pleasure of a proper meeting with the woman, he knew enough about her to not care for her in the least. The fact that she was already upsetting his sweet red haired girl so much lit a fire in his chest. he would deal with the woman one way or another but, for now, he needed to focus on Ariel.
"I don't know, but I promise I'll handle it." Carefully, he placed a kiss on her forehead. "Come on, you should sit down and try to calm down. I don't want you crying anymore." He brushed away the new tears that had fallen, giving her a soft smile. "I'd rather see your beautiful smile." Eric led her inside, leading her to the lounge were she could sit and rest. "Did you want some tea to relax your nerves?"
I soon will. There are going to be a lot of essays and I may go crazy if I have to mark them myself. That would have been handy, an extra pair of hands is always helpful. Fuck it, they’re getting the work. I’ll just smile and look pretty while doing it. You’re not going to bring in any kracken’s are you? No great white sharks?
Then you're a lucky man to have your TA. Essays can be tedious. Glad you reached that conclusion early. It's better than changing your mind later. I'm sure your pretty smile with entice them to do the work. I doubt any sharks or krackens will be gracing my classroom.
Lost Again
"…Great…" he sighed shaking his head, running his fingers through his hair. "I take it you had to wait a while?" Tulio hummed, turning his gaze back to the man beside him. "La gente estúpida y su falta de atención…" he murmured under his breath.
"That it did," he replied before taking a sip of his drink. He chuckled as he heard the Spanish coming from the other man. "He'll get around to you eventually. It's better than nothing, at least." He set down his drink, turning back to the man again and offering his hand. "I'm Eric Strand."
Has anyone seen Ariel.
Her well being is no concern of yours. Unless, ahhh, you must be Eric.
