BIKES AND THE CITY | EBIKE PROTOTYPE
This team is looking at how they can safely guide visitors through the city. They are experimenting with lighted handel bars, directional sounds, audio tours integrated into a helmet and a bike pick up station. The whole system will source an individuals preferences via social media to guide them to the parts of town they might find interesting.
BLOCK PARTY | PROTOTYPE
This team has been looking at ways to engage the community in civic matters. They've created block party, a roving interactive play station where citizens can gather and give feedback on their community and what they'd like to see change or stay the same.
COMMUTE BIKING | PROTOTYPE
This team has ingeniously incorporated light vibrations to the left and right side of a bike helmet that are triggered by proximity to other objects ie cars. This way bikers can use their helmets to let them know how close they are to traffic.
SENSING THE NEIGHBORHOOD | PROTOTYPE
This team is looking at illuminating sidewalks and bus stops in crime ridden areas to both deter crime and help locals feel safer. These lights would be applied to urban features in the city and illuminate a path behind and ahead of a pedestrian at night.
SPARK | PROTOTYPE
The spark team prototyped a motion activated strip of lights that will enhance visibility of a biker to cars at an intersection.
STUDENT TEAM | COMMUTE BIKING
There are a lot of serious safety issues for bike commuters. This team took a closer look at bike lanes, the biker's relationship to cars and what makes a biker feel safe.
STUDENT PROJECT | BIKES AND THE CITY
This team is looking at recreational biking rather than commuting. How can we get visitors to the city on bikes and away from the typically touristy attractions?
STUDENT TEAM | SENSING THE NEIGHBORHOOD
This team is looking at crime in a developing neighborhood. How can we address issues of safety while focusing on making public spaces feel safer?
STUDENT TEAM | BIKE THEFT & SAFETY
These students are looking at some of the most immediate issues for bikers in the city. How can we keep citizens and their bikes safe?
STUDENT TEAM | CITIZEN-CITY EXCHANGE
This team is looking at the communication channels between the citizens, the city and their community. How can they work together effectively to maintain their community?
