We gave George Washington the title of General of The Armies of the United States in 1976. At that point, he was dead for 177 years.

I guess context is what matters. I mean, Washington was apparently a mountain of  a man and helped laid the foundation for what America would be like. 

It’s a little odd how people call out other countries like North Korea or Russia for ascending their world leaders while ascending our own founder. But to be fair, if I had to pick between a good-natured mountain of a man or a pair of hateful shithead manlets, I think I’ll choose good ol’ Georgie.
