Sensing some form of strain on Liz, Shanta tried to calm herself. Better to not let her own mutation affect Liz before she went running for the hills. She nodded at the compliment paid to Betty, before asking curiously “So…if we don’t have the same Momma, who did Dad— well, your Dad…?”

Shanta had never had the ‘Only child’ route when growing up; she was used to big groups and large families. Liz looked baffled.

“Course it’s me…  Why wouldn’t it be?” Oh god. He missed her. This was the happiest he’d been in ages, on a cold winter’s day. But with the right girl, he was fine. “Oh I missed you Liz. It’s been so different ‘round here.” He wrapped his hand around hers and they began to walk through the snowy streets.

“Where did you go?” He hoped that it wasn’t too soon, it’s just that his curiosity was peaked. She’d disappeared without a trace. He was alone, sure he had friends. But none truly helped him get over Liz. “You know, if you don’t mind telling me.”

"I missed you too, Jason.." She looked down at their hands and tightened her grip for a second before relaxing. 

She walked along side him, glancing down at their hands every now and then. At his question, she perked her head up and sighed deeply. "Course I don't mind telling you. I helped my mom move to Virginia and then she wanted me to help her with something and I guess she didn't want me to leave.." She looked up at him. "I'm sorry I left without notice.. I should've told you."
