Shipping Rant? Dasky, Sugar/Ella Finale spoilers
I really don't have any NOTP's for TDPI, but I'm seriously Side-eyeing Ella/Sugar because Sugar was straight up rude to Ella and personally I'm not for ships based solely on "These two hate eachother, so they must be shipable!"
Even if Ella and Sugar are cartoon characters, they could influence REAL people. A lot of young kids are told that If someone is bullying you, they like you. People could get sucked into abusive relationships, and friendships mostly because a lot of people Normalize these kinds of relationships.
Be careful what you say, because you don't know who could be listening.
And on Dasky...
I think it was pretty badly handled how their relationship was written. When I first saw them together, I was like "Nerd baby with athletic girl? heck yes that's adorable."
But then came Dave's obsessive and clingy attitude, And the fact that Sky was totally dismissive of her reason for telling him "no".
You could argue that Dave pushed her, But if you watch it, all of her actions after they 'start' their relationship are her choice. Never did we see her in the confessional like "He didn't want to hear the 'but' so I'm not going to feed his romantic urges."
The 'but' never even crossed her mind again until they were on separate teams, when she HAD to break if off with him, and when Jasmine TOLD her to break it off with Dave. Without those circumstances, Dave and Sky could have still been 'Together' despite the 'but'.
And then came the Finale. Now some people say "Sky had plenty of chances to tell Dave about her boyfriend!!" And other people say "No she didn't have a chance to tell Dave about her Boyfriend!!" That's cool and all but the But wasn't the boyfriend. Sky never said anything about the Boyfriend In confessional, or even hinted towards having one. They just needed to find a way to set Dave off. If they would have shown him the actual 'but', he would most likely have apologized to sky for not listening to her, (making a much better finale IMO) but no. They just were like "How can we possibly destroy two wonderful characters in less than 30 minutes? I KNOW."
It was much more heart-wrenching watching Shawn talk about how stupid Jasmine's plan for the money was, because we KNEW it would hurt her.
I wanted Dave to hear the real but, but then the writers just... took a big shit all over my fave. Granted I did love seeing him act so... evil, but come on. It would have been more powerful and convincing if WE KNEW ABOUT THE BOYFRIEND BEFORE HAND.
Raise of hands, who would have loved to see a honest apology between Dave and Sky? Not necessarily have them get back together but to actually acknowledge what they did to each other hurt their feelings?
