Brenton Wood - I Think You've Got Your Fools Mixed Up Art Laboe Presents: Brenton Wood's 18 Best
1967
AI think you got your fools mixed up You must think I'm somebody else I'm not the same fool you know That couldn't help himself
And followed you around like a dog Strung on a chain And wagged his cute little tail Whenever you called his name
But baby, that will be no more Remember when you walked out that door I was on my knees, I said, "Now baby, please" You just looked at me and said, "No score" And then you said
Get some mo doe* and maybe one day you'll be back again But baby, I got lucky again I made myself a million tens And another thing I want to say I found myself another friend, woo, hoo
I think you got your fools mixed up You must think I'm somebody else I think you got your fools mixed up You must think I'm somebody else
I think you got your fools mixed up You must think I'm somebody else

Wai Far #soundtrack (se1.ep2)
Wai Far (se1.ep2)
On that foggy corner all of a sudden music starts playing just off where she can’t see and it startles Wai a little. Kelly predicting Wai's position springs out from the thick fog and starts to dance a routine she couldn't of put more than 3 minutes into choreographing. Wai gasps runs to Kelly and in a low quick voice says “turn that off and fix your eyes on this” Wai exposes the flyer to Kelly. Kelly spits out “you think I don't know this? Shame on you for underestimating my skills. I've been all over Seddon, Yarraville news agents and its my pleasure to announce that as of Saturday afternoon hence past, it has officially been safe to say we are... informed, my dear.” They proceeded to school. Walking beside Kelly, Wai asks “and so what does our thorough investigation tell us?” Kelly responds “not much, but supposedly, supposedly Boy-Town are supporting Doosh Daily before they announce the winner of this years dance competition. Turns out, that Big-Chris performing as printed on the flyer is not entirely accurate.” Wai's eye's open wide as her mind races to embellished memories of Tosh, a vocalist who performed with Boy-Town, end of last summer. This was the same last summer that our little Wai still had braces on before getting them off this December. For Wai, the thought of seeing Tosh again was hard to contain, to say the least. Her face looked like a tense calf muscle. Kelly said 'He might not even be come.”
Wai Far (se1.ep3)
Two years ago at a New Years Eve party, the girls fathers' agreed to “BAN” their daughters from listening to POP music ...post-1997. Wai's Dad Benny smirked and added “97 that's being generous.” Kelly said “WTF Dad, what, are you trying to turn me into a social outcast?” and Mike replied “Hey listen, Wai's in the same boat, with how their family feel. And yeah you're right, I don't want you to have too many friends at school. Distract you from your school work.” To when Kelly drops her infamous “fcuk that Dad!”. She told Wai later, “Dad just looked at me with this face that was chiseled in stone”. And from then on, Kelly's just sort of accepted it. No exclusive video releases, no top 40, nothing, just gets on with being a dedicated music fan like the rest of us around here. I don't know if Wai would have kept it up for as long as she has, if I didn't know of the respect Kelly has for her father's stone face, on top of that how Wai feels about Kelly. Wai's Dad, Benny thought it was cool to anchor his kids in the classics of 20th-century popular music but was also at times questioning himself, if he was right to ask such things of others. The two girls amazingly made the most of it, by not only curating some of the greatest funk and r&b libraries in Melbourne. But also youthfully making up for their fathers' burdensome restrictions, by fanatically reading about current popular music. As I imagine a pair of mentally fixated hearing impaired kids would. My guess this second activity revolved around a sense of preparedness for when they were 21 as much as it was a way to fit into conversations at school. Benny Far was a little drunk that New Years party, but he loved a running joke. So Wai and Kelly being who they are, were stuck for now in pre-1997 under threat of stone face and the curse of parental wisdom.
