A squadron of three Black Templars Gladius Class Frigates has entered the Agripinaa Sector to bolster the Imperial defence of the region. Answering the call for aid from Battlefleet Agripinaa command, the Black Templars Space Marines Chapter Master himself decreed that a squadron of frigates should make all speed to shore up the defences of such a critically important area of Imperial space.

Swift, nimble, and with significant firepower relative to their size, Gladius Squadron Bohemond and their complement of renowned Space Marines will surely boost the morale and defences of Sector Agripinaa.

I painted this little squadron of BFG in record time, over the space of three evenings (probably around 4 hours of painting in total). Really pleased with how they’ve turned out, I’m happy with the cold, blue/black of the main hulls. I even tried some freehand chapter symbols on the rear wing plates, they’re not great but they’ll work fine, considering how long it’s been since I did any proper freehand painting!

I have one more light cruiser to add to this little force, it’s actually an old Forgeworld Grey Knights strike cruiser but will work well in Black Templar colours too.

I picked up a rotating turntable for some better photography and videos of my miniatures, and tested it on my most recently painted unit: the Bladegheist Revenants.

Really pleased with how the video has turned out for a first attempt! I used a little tripod to hold my phone whilst recording and it seemed to work well.

I think this type of video definitely helps to show off minis such as the Bladegheist Revenants which I found pretty difficult to photograph due to their poses being so dynamic.

The photo above showed the simple setup with the turntable inside my lightbox, tue tripod is out of shot.

Keen to try more of this in the future!

A little palette cleanser between the Nighthaunt units, I’ve been painting up these little Gladius Class Frigates for Battlefleet Gothic.

I’ve gone with a Black Templars colour scheme for the ships, as they will contrast nicely with the off-white colour scheme of my Battlefleet Agripinaa fleet.

With all the focus around Armageddon right now, it also felt appropriate to paint up some ships in the livery of a Space Marine chapter that is so heavily linked with the Armageddon wars.

Hoping to have these finished over the next few days all being well!

The latest unit to join my Grand Procession of Nagash, some Bladegheist Revenants 💀.

Really enjoyed painting these guys, they are so dynamic and the poses are full of movement. They’re really quite large for infantry models too, I’d say each is easily double the size of a regular Chainrasp.

Only eighteen models left to paint for the Nighthaunt army project now, it’s been ongoing for several years now and I’ve loved painting each unit. The Mortis Engine is still lurking there among the units to be painted, it’s going to be a mammoth task!

Next up for the Grand Procession of Nagash, a unit of Black Knights!

I started working on these dudes a couple of years ago but they’ve been lying unfinished since then. I did finish the bases but the models themselves are still in the very early stages of completion.

So in my quest to finish the Nighthaunt army, the Black Knights are next to be tackled!

For gaming purposes (in the infinitely small chance that I actually play a game of Warhammer) they will be used as Hexwraiths, but I’m not a big fan of the Hexwraith miniatures so I opted to build the unit as Black Knights instead.

They’re going to stand out somewhat from the rest of the Nighthaunt army in that they’ll have a lot more solidity to their form. The steeds will be painted in the same manner as my Dreadblade Harrows but the riders themselves will have a lot of real material instead of being mostly ethereal.

I’m planning to paint their armour in aged metal to follow the theme of the rest of the army (magical or enchanted armour and weapons are painted in actual metallic colours while basic/mundane items are painted in a heavily rusted manner).

Looking forward to getting stuck into these guys!

I visited the new Element Games store in Glasgow the other day, it is so good! Packed FULL of different paint brands and hobby materials, and a massive selection of miniature kits for loads of game systems.

I picked up some new pigments and washes from AK Interactive, really keen to see how they perform.

Looking forward to visiting Element Games Glasgow again soon!

This summer heat hasn’t made it easy to get any painting done! From what I’ve seen, you guys in Germany have had it a lot worse than here in Scotland too 🔥🥵

So it's been 3 years and I'm still alive!

I completely burned out of the hobby after the start of 10th because noone of my friendgroup had much fun with the edition and we all just sort of moved on, I legit haven't touched that heavy weapons squad since then, it's still on my painting table collecting dust...

I have however done some occasional painting here and there over the years, never much, just whenever I was able to motivate myself to it, which is the collection you see above. All DRG boardgame minis which are actually pretty fun to paint.

Recently I finally had it with GW paints, because of the constant breaks I always had to revive the damn paints that dried in those horrible pots, so it took even more windup to do anything, blocking me even more.

This change was very helpful to get me to actually paint more, so next post will be the minis I made since around May this year :D

The Thorns of the Briar Queen 💀

Another unit finished this week for my AoS Nighthaunt army.

This lot was so enjoyable to paint, they’re full of character and great little details given that they were originally a Warhammer Underworlds Warband. The Briar Queen herself is a lovely miniature, but my favourite is the gaoler with his portcullis-esque mask, cell keys and little candlestick.

The sculpted scenic bases are just incredible too, they were so much fun to paint especially as bases are one of my favourite parts of a miniature!

Onwards now to a unit of five Bladegheist Revenants, which are already at a fairly advanced stage of readiness.

Just the ethereal areas left now and they will be complete!

I bought a set of the Vallejo Game Colour metallics a few months ago and love them, so I have high hopes for your experience with this lot!

Some more quick prep on a few little BFG ships, this time a trio of old Forgeworld Space marine Gladius Class Frigates.

I bought these from Forgeworld way back when they were originally released and painted them up in Ultramarine colours. After stripping them with biostrip, some of the details have been slightly eroded but I reckon they will still look ok once painted.

They are now destined to join the ranks of the Deathwatch and will act as a little strike group to support Battlefleet Agripinaa in defending the Agripinaa Sector.

The Krulghast Cruciator was assembled last night, and I also finished building up the little scenic base for it.

It’s a while since I worked on any scenic bases and I thoroughly enjoyed it, bases are definitely one of my favourite parts of a model. I kept it fairly simple, using some flagstones I sculpted from Milliput, with some plaster filler to blend everything together and the addition of some GW skulls to tie in with the other bases in the army.

Now that the miniature is assembled, I’m really keen to get it painted but I want to finish some more of the remaining infantry units first.

I’m currently working on some Bladegheist Revenants and the Thorns of the Briar Queen, both of which are well underway.

It’s been too hot to paint over the last few days but I did make a start on the Krulghast Cruciator. The plan is to tackle this miniature in two sub assemblies: the main body and base, and the large stockade.

It’s a really lovely miniature, enjoying working on it so far!

Had a look through the storage drawers this evening as I’ve been feeling the itch to assemble something lately.

So far this year I’ve been painting up miniatures that I already had assembled (mainly my remaining BFG ships, remaining Nighthaunt units, Stormcast Eternals and WFB Empire units).

But this week I’ve felt the urge to assemble something new, but with limited time for hobbying, I’ve decided to stick to a single miniature instead of anything large or with multiple minis.

I’m going to get this Krulghast Cruciator built next, as it’s the last mini in my Nighthaunt collection to be assembled.

And it looks really cool!

With the completion of the Orbital Station, I have now finished all of the current miniatures for my BFG Imperial fleet, Battlefleet Agripinaa.

Really pleased with all of the ships in the fleet, and very proud to have collected and painted up a whole fleet which has been a hobby goal of mine ever since BFG was released way back in 1999.

I keep a spreadsheet for all of the miniatures in my collection and document when each miniature is assembled and painted. It’s a source of real satisfaction seeing all of the BFG miniatures marked green for completed!

This also brings my number of completed miniatures in 2026 to 29 so far, which is only 4 behind my total for 2025 already.
