david + Marley
If Marley and David had a kid…
Name: Mallory Nicole Callahan-Smallhorn.Gender: Female.General appearance: Marley’s wild blonde hair and pale skin, David’s warm brown eyes and smile.Personality: Marley swears that Mallory is her penance. She never had that much appreciation for her mother until that girl was born, but once she was…Marley had to ask her how she’d done it, multiple times, and at sixteen, nonetheless. Marley is well into her late twenties–maybe early thirties–when Mallory is born, and it is a miracle she hadn’t gone grey two years in. Terrible twos? More like terrible sixteen years. Mallory is a force to be reckoned with. Spunky and witty and absolutely wild. She constantly has to be doing something, constantly entertained, and constantly pushing boundaries. Tell the girl not to take a step out of her room and she will walk up to the entryway and put her toes right up to the line. There’s many a night where David has to hold a bewildered and, frankly, exhausted Marley, reassure her that she’s doing the best she can and she’s a teenager, they’re like that–you were like that, which doesn’t exactly make her feel better, because she was like that beyond her teenage years, and she’s not sure she can handle it…but at the end of the day, they’re family. Mallory loves both of her parents and knows they love her…but that doesn’t mean she goes easy on them.Special Talents: How Marley and David gave birth to an athletic child, neither know, but Mallory has some moves on the soccer field. Other than that, she’s a handy-woman, having had an interest in putting things together since a young age, like her father. The car she will receive when she gets her license is a project the two of them are working on, an old junker of a car they work on when they’ve got the spare time to–typically after a fight between Mallory and Marley, to give both the time to cool off.Who they like better: David. After putting up with Marley for the years he had, he’s gotten quite good at diffusing situations. He’s the calm that, frankly, both Callahan-Smallhorn women need in their lives.Who they take after more: Marley, which is why she likes David more. Her and Marley are too similar. They love each other, no doubt about it–there’s nothing Marley would not do for her daughter, but thinking of all the trouble she got up to in her teenage years, and beyond, Marley’s just terrified of what a new generation of her genes will get up to. She just wants the absolute best for her daughter.Personal headcanon: Mallory comes out as a lesbian at seventeen years old. David finds out first, accidentally, having gone to the garage to do something to Mallory’s car, and finding her kissing her (revealed to be) girlfriend in the backseat. He’s the one who encourages her to tell Marley, who he knows will understand, though it’s still a few weeks before Mallory feels comfortable enough to do so. Marley barely blinks an eye upon finding out, as her mother had done when she had come out. Simply had Mallory come and sit in her lap and hold her, thank her for telling her. Mallory is so relieved that she goes to her room after and cries–truthfully, Marley does too.Face Claim: Sabrina Carpenter!
