Revisited an old, old comic (first published in Voiceworks #96 in 2014, yowza)

Deep Park has been out of print for years now, it came out in 2013, so I figured it was time to print a new version to sell at comic and zine festivals.

Michael was a captive gorilla with a vocabulary of over 600 signs. The sign for ‘lip’ was how he said ‘girl’, thus ‘cut neck lip (girl) hole’. It’s believed this was his way of recounting to his keepers the death of his mother at the hands of poachers.

Alright, here's where we're at. You and Me and Us and We has been compiled, and the manuscript is off to the printers. 140 pages of full-colour comics exploring human connection and our relationships to nature and the universe.
I'm only printing a few copies to send out to publishers, fingers crossed this isn't a massive waste of time and energy and money. Best case scenario I'll be promoting this book in a year or two, worst case scenario I'll be announcing a crowd-funding campaign. In any case, this book will see the light of day sooner than later. I can't wait to share it with you.

So towards the end of You and Me and Us and We, one of the characters talks about the idea of living in a simulation and suddenly the colours swap from traditional to digital, and they carry on like that for the last four chapters. This is from the final story, Possibility, an existential conversation set in outer space!

I developed a comic colouring technique that produces some really wild effects, and you can see a video about that process a few posts back and also up on my YouTube.
