⠀⠀⠀The moonlight casted just a warm enough glow to the room. It’s light, reminding you of David’s familiar touch around your body, how you would melt into the sheets under his breath.
⠀⠀⠀He was supposed to be back from a two week trip, but texted you saying he missed his flight coming home. You’d be lying if you said you didn’t miss his sweet aroma.
⠀⠀⠀You didn’t want to think about it too much, deciding to go to bed early, was something that undoubtably took your mind off it, even if it was just for a couple hours. Truthfully, you didn’t know if he was going to be back in the morning, that led you to a worried state.
⠀⠀⠀It couldn’t have been more than two hours of your sleep, when you felt your body make a slight jolt to the feeling of of someone’s hands tightly wrapped around your warm body, their head buried at the back of your neck, their breath in sync with the summer solstice.
⠀⠀⠀The feeling was gently and giving, although the surprising contact slightly scared you, you knew it was the beating heart of your beloved.
⠀⠀⠀“David?” You gently whisper, slowly moving your body to turn to his sleeping form.
⠀⠀⠀He lifts his head up, and gives you a groggy smile, his arms loosely falling down your side. Even in the dark with the moons dim glow, you still managed to find his smile adoring.
⠀⠀⠀“I’m sorry I couldn’t make it here sooner, I had to take a later flight,” his sincere tone makes you smile in admiration of his character, “also, sorry for waking you, just now,” he chuckles, moving the blankets of your shared bed.
⠀⠀⠀“Don’t worry about it, love. I’m just glad you’re finally here. I’m glad I got the honor to wake up to your arms around me,” you give a genuine smile.
⠀⠀⠀He gives you another sleepy smile, pulling you back in to his grasp, your arm tightly secured around your safe haven. The bed sheets seemed like a cloud, it’s structure wrapped carelessly around both of your bodies, David’s familiar scent filling your space, one of his hands massaging your head with the tips of his fingers, occasionally letting a strand of your hair fall gently on your cheek.
⠀⠀⠀He was like a warm teddy bear, his soft sweater rubbing against your other cheeks as his soft breathy exhales gliding against your skin.
