wrenmatthews:
My place is pretty bare bones so I spent a lot of time singing whatever song popped into my head, some time trying to write lyrics, and some time playing my ukelele. Nothing of real substance.
You’re a musician? That’s pretty awesome. All I know how to do is chopsticks on the piano. I wish I could play the guitar. That’d be awesome.
evie--maxwell:
Oh, it’s not gym related. Just personal stuff I was working on.
That makes sense. Then I hope everything works out for you and you didn’t lose much if anything.
maevehaywood:
I hate how gross it is that I have to agree.Â
Now I just have to wonder what’s going to happen next. Unfortunately, I can’t be so optimistic like my brother. I just am waiting for the other shoe to drop.
maevehaywood:
I’m so glad to have electricity. I feel like a person again.
I know the feeling. I was so happy to wash my clothes. I was terrified they were going to start attracting flies.
wrenmatthews:
I spent a long time doing nothing.
That would drive me absolutely batty. I have to do something.
evie--maxwell:
God I missed the internet. I had so much business I never got to finish. Here’s hoping my affairs are still in order now that I’m back online.Â
Yikes. I didn’t know the gym had so much work online.Â
chloexlucas:
I feel like I needed that break from the internet. Which is the only positive I can find from the power outage. Getting back into reading sounds like a great idea. Though my need for buying books is high, I have a ton sitting at home that I haven’t even touched yet.Â
You’re not alone. I always tell myself that I’m not going to buy anymore until I’ve read everything I have, then I somehow end up on Amazon with three books in my shopping cart. Whoops.
jer-w:
Why, yes it is, sister of mine. A patient told me about it and I suppose I’ve been very selfish keeping it to myself. i need to remember you’re as much of a reader as I am.
Very, very selfish. I should tell on you. I’m a bit picky of my stories, but when I find a good one, I can’t put it down. I always feel odd shopping in the young adult section, but dang it, I love young romance.
jer-w:
Thriftbooks.com - some books on there are only like $4. Used, of course, but so far every book I’ve ordered has been in excellent condition.Â
Is that why you always have something new every time I see you? I regret not asking for this before! I didn’t know you had a secret gem up your sleeve.
I did enjoy the time away from stupid people on the internet, but I’m very pleased to have electricity back. Being away from social media that long makes you really not miss it at all. I do need new books now, after I start making a paycheck again.
phoebealcorn:
Mostly, Phoebe was appreciative of Davina’s attempt to placate her nerves. However, that stopped short the second she saw the cast on the other brunette’s wrist. Immediately, guilt ate at her. Here she was, crying, whilst perfectly healthy –albeit running on 4 hours of sleep, two power naps, and copious amounts of coffee, while the other had been hurt. She was mortified to be crying. “I’m good,” she sniffed, letting out a deep exhale. “I’m fine. –Your wrist.”
Davina saw her attention move to the cast and moved her arm so her leg was blocking direct view. “It’s nothing. Don’t worry about my wrist.” She moved her head to the side, staring at Phoebe. “You’re definitely not good. When is your shift over? You need sleep. It’s been proven that lack of sleep is as dangerous as being drunk. You need to take care of yourself, too.”Â
phoebealcorn:
“I–I’m sorry, this is really embarrassing.” Perched on the sidewalk, the brunette allowed herself to come until –only a little bit, at least. Phoebe’s tears were partly due to exhaustion and partly due to being overwhelmed. She usually was a master at handling 48 hour shifts, but the amount of patients coming into the hospital had sent her over the edge. So much pain, so much loss… The usually clinical space was now somber… And dark. It didn’t make her job any easier. “I just… Need a second.”
Davina was just leaving the hospital, having suffered from only a broken wrist in the destruction. She had counted herself lucky in comparison to some of the injuries she had witnessed just in the waiting room. She saw the younger girl on the sidewalk and concern washed over her. “Are you o--” Davina stared at her, confused. She didn’t understand why she was apologizing or what was going on. Taking a seat next to her, she used her good wrist to gently rub her back. “It’s okay. Take all the time you need.”
TEXT TO DAVINA.
Z: You catch on fast, don't you?
Davina: Boy, you didn't even ease into bitch mode. It's just instant.
[UNKNOWN]: DO YOU WANT TO PLAY A GAME? -- Z.
Do I have a choice?
I have a weird feeling...
wrenmatthews:
That’s…not ideal.
No, definitely not. I’m hoping I’m wrong, but it’s just strange. Why make such an entrance to turn around and not do anything else?
I have a weird feeling...
jer-w:
Let’s not jinx us, D.
I’m not trying to - I just feel really uneasy, I guess.
