How do you explain to people close to you that the reason you don't date is one: you grew up raised that being anything other than straight is essentially wrong and will get you sent straight to hell or disowned and two: you are filled with so much self hatred for a body that you can easily fix, but are stuck in a constant state of struggling to do so and lack motivation and reason to fix it. Not to mention the mental anguish you suffer because you know your body isn't disgusting, and you know that somewhere out there, there is a person for you that will love it and teach you how to love it yourself, but you remain stuck in that place in your mind that tells you differently. How does one explain that the problem isn't what people think about you, it's about what you think about yourself that keeps you from being and having what you see everyone else being and having. It's about you not feeling deserving of something good to happen, or even a shred of happiness because of how much you hate yourself and the body you are currently stuck in.

How do I explain it?
