大衛馬密：

我小時候，發現有兩位作者改變了戲劇的遊戲規則

Samuel Backett 和 Harold Pinter，他們改變了我的人生

當時我看了 Harold Pinter 的舞台劇劇本

在 30 秒內，讓我想哭又想笑。他有能力創造這個氣氛

但你很難分析他。就像我的郵差神父說的：這就是預言能力

不是預測未來，而是讓你感受到永恆

Pinter 有這個天份，創造一個奇妙的世界

而且他用字非常少，完全不談到舞台上的方向，也沒有對演員的指導

讀者就可以想像發生了什麼事

當時我覺得這是我想做的事情，所以我開始寫劇本

為什麼多數舊電影比新電影好看？

以前我在英國工作時，都會和我的朋友 Tony Kaye 一起去看電影，

我們一個星期會去看10到15場電影。

一場電影演到10分鐘左右時，我們會互相打手勢，

要繼續看，還是索性離開尋找另一場更值得看的影片。

幾乎90%的電影，看到10分鐘之後，我們就起立離開。

我們相互的默契是：一個片子的好或壞，一個導演的好或壞，

在10分鐘內就可以判斷出來。  

每個週末 Tony 也都會到我家一起看舊片，

我會邊放邊分析給他聽，一起自學怎麼說故事。

現在，很多上過課的學生會問：為什麼多數的舊電影會比新電影好看？
