Ok but imagine Elain and Lucien arguing about the bond and Lucien blurts out something like "I'm sorry the Cauldron gave you a mate who's so disfigured you can barely bring yourself to look at me" or something like that and Elain just pauses in utter shock because that is the exact opposite of why she can't look him in the eyes.

The truth is, he's so devastatingly handsome that she can't bring herself to look at him fully without blushing. And the thought that he could ever find himself unworthy of her nearly brings her to tears.

I'd love to see a call back to this where Elain and Lucien are fighting, and Elain angrily/mockingly says, "Well, I'm your mate. I belong to you, don't I?" Only for Lucien to immediately stop and say something like, "You are my mate, yes, but that does not mean you belong to me. You belong to no one, Lady."

Last night I went to bed with a reassuring thought.

When SJM talked about the bond she used language like “forced marriage” and true love and what happens when your destiny sends you to a hot guy that may not be your true love and what choice and free will do you have with that?

It sounded so familiar.

And then I realized. This is just the plot for Outlander Season 1.

Which happens to be one of Sarah’s favorite shows/books, favorite MMC…..Literally. It’s Claire ending up in the past where she was destined to meet Jamie and…forcibly be married to him. She fights it over and over and even runs away but in the end? She CHOOSES him. Over FRANK. Who she thought was her true love because Jamie was her soul mate.

It makes a lot of sense how Elain’s story will mirror this one.

And I felt really encouraged by that.

Do people actually think that lady would get on that podcast and confirm either ship this far out of the book releasing, knowing that the discourse on Tiktok/elsewhere is what keeps people interested in her books (especially when it's been multiple years since the last one released)? The discourse that's happening right now PROVES how important this ship argument is to the popularity/exposure of the books.

From what SJM said so far, we’re headed for a long, slow-burn arc between Elain and Lucien. Everything we already knew tbh, with the added bonus that Elain knows Lucien is hot, which only makes the tension better 🫶🏼

I really need Lucien to snap at Elain and tell her to stop beating around the bush and tell him how she really feels. And I don’t mean “why won’t you accept the bond, blah blah blah” because that’d out of character and gross.

I mean in a Laurie-to-Jo style argument. Like “I must make you hear now, and give me an answer because I cannot go on like this any longer.” Or whatever the quote is. Lucien would never be angry at her for rejecting the bond, but he would be upset at her for keeping him in limbo. He had enough of that with Amarantha’s curse.

I know elucien has been likened to that scene in Little Women before, but WOW it would just be so good.

Friends-to-lovers is my absolute favorite romance trope! Sprinkle in a little intellectual rivalry and an MMC that is just as into the FMC’s mind as anything else and I’m a goner. The idea of Azriel and Gwyn slowly falling in love amidst missions and late-night research already has me giggling and kicking my feet. A relationship built on respect, admiration, and trust in the other’s abilities is something I cannot wait to read about (soon, please!!).

Feyre is here supporting her sister off page, with a little less meddling this time. Elain and Lucien’s journey has been a long one, and we foresee a bit more angst in their future before they eventually have their well-earned Happy Ever After.

One of SJM’s old Pinterest board posts had artwork of a lady with a rose tattoo on her back. Of course this made us think of Elain. How maybe Elain would have a rose shaped bargain tattoo with her mate in future books.

DMONYART did an absolutely INCREDIBLE job! Elain looks positively gorgeous! We love her cute little smile and blush 🩷. Lucien looks insanely handsome. We love how he’s tracing Elain’s tattoo with such love and reverence.
