my favorite hobby is to assign pokemon teams to videogame characters! This is going to be a REALLY LONG post, so brace yourselves ˆ_ˆ
image descriptions and more under the cut!
Text from the image and quick explanation for the pokémon choices:
•Used to be an elite four but gave it up for a peaceful life in Okinawa.
•His Zangoose matches with Majima's Seviper, Dragonite, Charizard and Salamence are here because they are dragons, Altaria evolved from Swablu (nugget) and was kept because it is loved at Morning Glory. Lastly Ursaring not only is strong but often takes care of haruka's Teddiursa.
•Other pokémons often found at Morning Glory are: Kangashkan (helps raise the children and often takes care of orphaned pokémons). Rock ruff, stray that Izumi brought home (mame). Pyukumuku, Pikipek, Slowpoke, Horsea, Corsola, Alomomola, and Sunflora are often found on its coast and beach.
•Has to leave frequently due to the Kanto league being threatened.
Zangoose was mainly chosen because of its rivalry with Seviper and also, it fits his color palette. And for Charizard, Salamence and Dragonite, they are as I said, because they are dragons, and I like them. Altaria is a strong dragon type but that doesn't mean it isn't fluffy and gentle, just like how he truly is. As for Ursaring I wanted to give him a pokémon that would show his paternal instincts and I remembered watching the anime and seeing a Ursaring taking care of a Teddiursa so I went for that.
Text from the image and quick explanation for the pokémon choices:
• Kiryu is childhood friend, despite his best efforts, he hasn't been able to get into the elite four or be at Kiryu's level. A sudden accident will change the way he treated and took care of his pokémons.
• Both Magikarp and Goldeen were friended and later captured at a pond close to Sunflower Orphanage. Yumi loved a Finneon she once found but was sad as she couldn't catch it, which Nishiki was more than glad to catch for her.
• Budew belonged to his sister Yuko who had to give it to his brother due to her prolonged visits to the hospital. Lastly Slowpoke and Wishiwashi were caught when Sunflower Orphanage had a trip to the beach.
Magikarp and Goldeen were a pretty easy choice, obviously inspired by his tattoo. I've always liked Finneon and he was a pretty stylish guy back in the 80s so why not give him a cute fish! Also choose Budew because I think that after all he went through he would like to keep something from his sister, and honestly, I just like Roserade. Slowpoke and Wishiwashi were slightly harder to come up with, but he was depicted as lazy and not good enough in the first and second game so I think these choices depict it well enough!
Text from the image and quick explanation for the pokémon choices:
• During a double battle along with Kiryu one of the challengers got severely hurt due to his Magikarp losing control, however Kiryu took the fall, causing his gym to be closed and not becoming an elite four once Kazama retired. This made Nishiki feel incredibly guilty and got blamed by the rest of the gym leaders, the shame and shunning changed the way he viewed pokémons, now, they were nothing more than ways of achieving power and money.
• After years of this behaviour he and Kiryu fought once again, after losing, he finally realized it had happened because he shared no bond with his pokemon, this prompted him to change his approach towards them.
• Nowadays his gym is one of the most feared and only those who have gone through hard experiences with their pokémon are able to defeat him.
I obviously decided to evolve Goldeen into Seaking because it just made sense to me just like I kept and evolved Magikarp to Gyarados for the same reason. KIngdra is here mainly because it is a really strong water pokémon and during this moment the only thing he was looking for in a pokémon was strength. Malamar on the other hand has incredible psychic powers and according to its pokedex entry "anyone who falls under Malamar's control loses their memories surrounding the event." And that reminded me of Yumi so I added it. Sharpedo is there because it is cool.
Text from the image and quick explanation for the pokémon choices:
• Is training to win pokémon contests, along with her team and coach has made it to the finals.
• A Pichu she found in Sunflower Orphanage and followed her when she left looking for her mother, it will eventually evolve to idol Pikachu as she starts participating in pokémon contests.
• Her Floette originally belonged to her late mother Yumi, it is one of her most treasured pokémons, meanwhile her shiny Dratini was left stranded in Morning Glory's beach.
• Togepi was a small egg she found and decided to take care of, while Teddiursa was the first pokémon she catched since Kiryu didn't want to separate it from its parent. Finally her Eevee was a stray that followed her all along Sotembori, and evolved into Sylveon.
For Haruka I went with baby pokémons because she will always be my baby. I couldn't bring myself to give her a Jigglypuff so I decided on Idol Pikachu. Togepi is full of happiness that it shares with people just like she had been doing all her life. Eevee is cute and she would definitely have a Sylveon, Teddiursa was mainly to fit hers and Kiryu's pokémons and I wanted her to have anything left from his mother so yeah, white Floette because there isn't a pink one. By the way, Dratini is there because it flew with its Dragonite parent while it was delivering mail and fell, shiny because she deserves something cute.
Text from the image and quick explanation for the pokémon choices:
• His Seviper is often fighting with Kiryu's Zangoose, and as weird as it might be their rivalry has grown into friendship.
• Trained and ambushed Kiryu and his pokémon to return them to their former Dragon of Dojima glory, before leaving for Okinawa Kiryu asked him to take Daigo under his wing.
• He and his brother had a job to steal exotic pokémons, however he never got to help him since it was all a set-up. After a tough battle, his eye was attacked and lost. For being unable to carry out his job, he is tortured for a year to be shaped into the perfect and most obedient subordinate.
• Is the leader of a gang that fights throughout Kanto and Johto (Kansai). His subordinates often have pokémons such as Zorua, Poochyena, Murkrow,Pancham or Stunky. Once his construction company was started the members became full time employees.
Houndoom howls made people think it was the grim reaper and Majima himself is pretty dangerous so yup, grim reaper. Seviper is pretty obvious, not only is it's snake but it also has a rivalry with Zangoose, as for Midnight (Desire) Lycanroc, it's a dog, it's fucked up, let's move on. For Zoroark I went with the Husuian version because according to its pokédex entry "With its white fur, it looks like an embodiment of death.Heedless of its own safety, Zoroark attacks its nemeses with bitter energy so intense, it lacerates Zoroark's own body". Very Majima-like isn't it. Froslass was the closest thing to a Hannya I could find and Timburr is there because of Majima Constructions and because I don't like any of its evolutions.
Text from the image and quick explanation for the pokémon choices:
• Majima's sworn brother ran away from his family along with her stepsister. When they found out she needed a kidney donor he dropped out to join a group specialized in stealing and abducting pokémons.
• Planned to do a hit along with Majima, however he never showed up. Killed 18 people and was incarcerated for 25 years until his sister was able to free him after proving his innocence.
• Being moved to another prisión gave him the opportunity to escape, ending up in Morning Glory where he catched a Feebas (and met Kiryu). After a long journey his sister managed to prove him innocent. As a way to prove his newfound freedom, Yasuko traded her own Litten while he exchanged his Feebas evolving into Milotic.
• Trying to find Majima's reasons he faces his brother, and after learning his motives and coming to an understanding, he decides to train his pokémon to become as strong as him.
Alright, Incineroar is pretty much the only tiger pokémon there is so I of course had to add it. As for Aggron and Bastiodon, they are here because I remembered his mining minigame and though, wow, they are bulky like him and look cool as fuck! Pangoro and Beatric both are bears, which he honestly kind of is, big and strong, so a bear. Also because the Majima family has Panchams so I thought Majima would've given him one after their fight/talk. Also, I think he would've catched a Cubchoo when he was hunting in the mountains. Tyranitar is there because it is a huge pokémon and also green, just like his jacket.
Text from the image and quick explanation for the pokémon choices:
• Used to work in a bank with his fiancée, however he was fired and left by his girlfriend, soon he found himself on the streets with Meowth as his only companion, which helped him gather coins and resources, and of course, the money that rained down the sky that fateful night in 2005.
• Opens a loan company and hires Hana and her Munch lax. Thanks to his Musharna he is able to understand his client's motivations and goals, even if they pass his tests, their dreams need to be worthy of his approval.
• When Hana left the office, she left him with her Minccino, as a promise to come back and to make sure the office didn't turn into a dumpster since he claims to be "too busy" to clean.
Lopunny is there because its mega evolution kicks with its legs just like he does, pretty much the same thing with Blaziken and also because it looks like a phoenix to me and since Akiyama represents the Vermillion Bird, I thought it was a good option. Meowth is not only cute and iconic but it collects coins, helped him out! Audino on the other hand can heal people and pokémon and he is the life line of Kamurocho. And Musharna, even if you can't see people's dreams, its mist changes colors depending on people's dreams. Minccino is Hana's gift because I wanted him to have something from her, and it helps with cleaning!
Text from the image and quick explanation for the pokémon choices:
• He spent a major part of his youth in other Asian countries, as a result he obtained his Mienfoo which evolved during a training session, while Oshawott was a gift from his father.
• After his father died he inherited his Herdier which suddenly evolved during his first important case. Thanks to its amazing sense of smell, cases are solved faster and more efficiently. At the same time, its personality and behaviour has helped in rescuing people in desperate times as it is a trustworthy partner on rescue teams.
•When the Police Department realized he kept losing his police car and handcuff keys, they provided him with a Klefki to avoid more incidents from happening.
Alright, so Tanimura represents the Black Tortoise as he focuses the most on defense, then I went for a turtle pokémon, thought about Blastoise but Carracosta felt more fitting. Then Samurott and Mienshao are there because they both have asian inspiration and fits the whole thing he's got with the whole little asia thing. Stoutland really feels like a police pokemon, and didn't want to give him an Arcanine because it didn't fit him. By the way, I made the whole key thing up, but is just like him I swear, and also wanted to use Klefki. I don't have any reason on Sneasel, I asked my friend if it would fit him, she said yes and I went ahead!
Text from the image and quick explanation for the pokémon choices:
• Born to a family of powerful gym leaders, received his first pokémon, a shiny axew from his father, when he was just five years old. Since then he has been under extreme pressure.
• The death of his father and the stress he went through during his youth changed his life completely to the point of having his own gang.
• After battling Kiryu his view on his fate and obligations, eventually managing to become Kanto's champion.
• His new status not only brought him fame and power but new allies, soon enough he found himself having new people he could not only call his friends but also trust. Friends such as Mine, his right hand and most trusted companion, although after a fatal accident he was forced to take in his pokémons, among them Pawniard.
Both Honchkrow and Mightyena are from his Yakuza 2 days, mainly because Murkrows will do anything Honchkrow asks them to do, meanwhile MIghtyena will faithfully follow their leaders' orders. Lucario can read auras and he always has to be meeting new people and deciding if he can trust them so yeah. Haxorus is really cool and I mainly made it shiny because it matches the color palette. And finally Aegislash is one of my favourite pokémon and can attack and defend, just like he does with the Tojo!

Okay, this is finally done. I'm so sorry to whoever actually read through all of this, but I really enjoyed choosing and coming up with their teams, the explanations, and the quick doodles..
Also, I made all this while I was watching House and haven't read them again so it's going to be wonky and poorly written. Oh and huge thanks to my friends for helping me to come up with the teams (even if some of them don't know a thing about pokémon) and for some ideas.
Again, it's an AU I came up with in three days and didn't think of any details of, so please, let me know if you have any questions! :-)
