The Lord Krishna in the Golden City (c. 1600), from the Harivamsha (Genealogy of Vishnu).  It was painted for the Mughal Emperor Akbar, who reigned from 1556 to 1605.

This painting depicts the holy city of Dwarka.  According to the Mahabharata, it was founded by Krishna on 12 parcels of land reclaimed from the sea.  The city flourished while Krishna lived there, but when he left, Dwarka was flooded, ushering in the current dark age, the Kali Yuga.

Socialism and its offspring – libraries, shelters, K-12 public education, mass transit systems, tuition-free higher education, fair housing and rent control, open borders and sanctuary states, and single-payer healthcare – are the concrete solutions to our collective suffering.  

To quote my beautiful mother: When you educate one woman, you educate an entire family. 

When you redistribute wealth, when you live in communion with the Earth and Mother Nature, when you give the poor, the working class, the homeless, the disabled, the marginalized a real path to grow – that’s our deep, universal Divinity in action.

May we continue to grow and may we foster the growth of others – even those people who are unconscious of their own Divine humanity and the Divine humanity of all sentient beings – now and always.
