The Manx - Malibu Slime
@themanxboys #themanx #malibuslime #parkerday Whew, ya'll ready for something really out there? The Manx contacted me last month and asked if I'd be down to feature some "cartoony weirdo punk-ish music" and of course I said YES. Without knowing their pedigree and friend network, you're going to hear some The Locust, a dash of The Muppets, and maybe a touch of a bunch of other odd pop culture influences that are hard for me to parse this early in the morning. In real life, The Manx are a quintet of animators that dress up and wear lots of sparkly clothing and make catchy music that, according to their instagram profile, may inspire spirited dancing, wearing of day-glo paint, and occasional unplanned nudity. It's honestly really hard to nail down, but I'll be damned if I didn't enjoy it. They list themselves as "GOO-CORE" and frankly I have no idea what that means but I think that may be part of the allure, if we're being real here (and I think we are). Now more of this makes sense once you know that Justin Roiland @justinroiland, the creator of Rick & Morty @rickandmorty, makes appearances here as well as Justin Pearson of The Locust/Headwound City and a handful of others from Qui and The Blood Brothers. Despite the obvious and intention goofiness of the album, there is a very seriously well-built album underneath the shiny wigs and hella tight golden hot-pants, too. This album drops today and you'd be a damned fool not to give this a spin! Cover art by amazing @heyparkerday and features @girlflavouredmilk . Produced & engineered by @toshikasaimusic .
