as a person who is into the asexual aspect using asexuality as a backup to get them to stop bothering you with a ship that clearly has backup and reasons why it might work is just a vague form of writing and reasoning.

I can't speak for people with a disability but I understand their reason for being upset that one of the characters with this condition (best written individually and within a relationship) they add this without a reasoned explanation in a shitty interview, or at least that it feels natural. It seems they just want to imply “fuck people with a disability, they don't deserve to be loved”. And the simple fact that 3 years ago they were saying “no, Viktor has no relation to queer” and changed their mind because of the pressure of the fans takes away their credibility. I think if you had told me that viktor is in the demisexual aspect it would make more sense because of the written form of his person and his evolution it would make more sense.

But here they only use asexuality as an argument to stop bothering with one of the most meaningful ships of the series, besides, it is not as if all those who are within the asexual aspect can not have romantic relationships. odio esto
