After the discussion and task division of the last week, we come up with several more new ideas about the presentation. We found that only talking about sustainable fibers and fabric finishing is not comprehensive enough to cover the entire supply chain. It is definitely better to mention the process from design, raw material sourcing, and production to logistics, even sales and use after sales, and the most important part of the topic, which is recycling. I was allocated to study corporate social responsibility besides my part of sustainable fibers. The problem emerges after I realize that the whole CSR involves a whole lot of aspects from sustainable development to human rights, corporate governance, health and safety, environmental effects to working conditions and contribution to economic development. For me, it is turning to another sphere and perspective of the way to talk about sustainability, which is much wider than just supply chain management. I found out that it is impossible to cover CSR without talking about all those aspects. But the research of this group presentation is within supply chain process; we have to change our approaches once again to meet the requirements and the purpose of the group project, which involves numerous arguments and debates.
Meanwhile, I find the teamwork involves everybody’s attention and ideas into every stage and detail to developing a better understanding and result. Because when we only focus on the tasks distributed to ourselves, there is a tendency to overlook the coherence of the logic where the project is supposed to serve. It is necessary to take a look back and forth from time to time with team members to calibrate the direction and sharing the individual findings to ensure everyone is on the same page.
