Summer: So, how long have you been bartending? Logan: Oh, I’m not really a bartender. I’m more like, let’s say, moonlighting as one for the night. Summer fidgets nervously: Moonlighting? It is okay to be here, right? Logan chuckles: Yes, it’s fine. My buddy owns the place. I’m just helping him out for the night. Summer: Mhmm.. So, what do you do when you’re not moonlighting as a sketchy bartender then? Logan laughs again: I’m a lifeguard actually. Summer: Well… that was actually unexpected. Logan grins: What about you then, Summer? What do you do when you’re not being served drinks from sketchy bartenders? Summer laughs: I’m here with the Sulani conservationist team. Dude Summer doesn’t know: How about The Sandbar here? It may not look like much, but it has the best drinks in the whole island. Summer: It looks closed though. Dude Summer doesn’t know winks and shrugs: The bartender decides when it’s closed... and since I just happen to be the bartender tonight, then I guess I say it’s still open. Especially for beautiful girls. Summer: You know that sounds creepy coming from a guy I don't even know, right? Summer and Lilliana decided to go to the small beach near where they both lived. Summer needed to do something outside of snorkeling and working, while Lilliana need an escape from the kids and husband for a day. As it turned out, this friendship was very mutually beneficial. A friend...

Dear Diary, I made a friend. Her name is Lilliana. We work together on the same conservationist team and often take our lunch breaks together. Today she surprised me at my house with a home cooked meal. And, even though I don’t eat meat, the sentiment of it meant more than she could know. Today, for the first time in the weeks that I have been here, I felt connected to this island. I think I finally might be home, diary. xoxo -Summer ♥

Talking to an actual person...👧

Summer finally met someone that doesn’t have fins and spits water in her face, or has to bathe himself... with his own tongue. Lilliana works together on the conservation team as well, and has been showing Summer the ropes. Lilliana: I’m sorry for just droppin’ by like this… and bringin’ a pork dish. I didn’t realize you were a vegetarian. I’d just made so much, so I thought to come visit with you and share it. Summer: No worries Lilliana! Trust me, it won’t go to waste. Chester will eat anything! Lilliana: Is that your husband? Summer: Chester? Oh, no no. He’s my puppy. He’s just a little guy, but he has a voracious appetite. Lilliana: Err.. well, I'm glad my food will suit your dog then...

Summer, Sulani Island 🌞

Chester...

Dear Diary, Have I told you about Chester? He’s my new puppy. My sister gave him to me as a parting gift before leaving the city. Though I use the word “gift” loosely. Really, her Corgi snuck out and decided to have a little frolic with her neighbor’s show winning female Corgi. So, when her neighbor’s dog ended up with an entire litter of little Chesters, her neighbor angrily dumped all the puppies on my sister’s doorstep– therefore Chester was dumped on mine as a gift. So, together, my little puppy accompanied me to start our new lives in Sulani. He’s a good little dog really and seems to be adapting well to the island. I admit that I was hesitant at first about taking him. That whole concept of keeping another living thing alive wasn’t one I am used to; but I am glad I did. He’s made the move to my new home less lonely. xoxo -Summer ♥
