The Sornieth League will be a Pokemon battling competition held in the FR community, by the FR community! Eleven gym leaders will take you on, representing each flight and their own specific elements. Should you win, you’ll gain an assortment of prizes- not just Flight Rising specific items and currency, but shinies and sometimes art as well!

The League is a heavy work in progress, only just taking it’s first few tentative steps. The current plan is to recruit gym leaders for players to challenge, and that’s what this post is for! If you’re interested in becoming a gym leader, please use the form provided below to send in your application. First note that we’ll have some requirements and read forward to see what we expect from you!

You’ll need a copy of Sun or Moon, as we’ll be using this as our default game for conducting challenges. Others like OR/AS and X/Y could be used as well, if both battler and gym leader agree on using them instead of the default.

You’ll need to be free often enough to take on your challengers, though it’s not known what time frame we’ll be expecting quite yet. If you’re extremely busy this might not be the job for you.

For gym leaders we’re requiring you be 16 years of age or older, and if possible, a competent battler. ‘A little above average’ is the minimum here- we’re not expecting seasoned competitive battlers, but at least knowing what EVs and IVs are would be a good start. If you’re interested in learning how to be a better battler, we’ll put a few links at the bottom of this post to some helpful videos to get you started. Incubi (#44031) will be able to answer any of your questions as well!

You’re expected to design a trainer and build a team that is mono type (or in some cases, dual type) that fits your flight. You should also design what you think your gym looks like, and where exactly it’s located in your flight’s region. Art is not necessary, a simple description will suffice for now! (maybe in the future we’ll work on getting everyone art) We’ll have short bios for you to fill out in the future, and probably a page showcasing all the gym leaders.

As for anyone interested in challenges and keeping up with events, we have a ‘trainer application’ as well. Those who apply will be added to a list that will be alerted to happenings within the league.

We’ll be hosting this mostly on tumblr, at sorneithleague (WIP). Feel free to follow us there for updates and more information as we move along!

The plan is to work towards starting everything AFTER pokebank has been released, so everyone can have their desired teams. Hopefully sometime this January, depending on how our applications go!

As one final note, to participate at all you must be at least 13 years or older.

Competitive Battling- Getting Started:

How to breed for IV’s in X/Y (and what IV’s even are) for X/Y but almost all of it is still true!

Bulbapedia and Serebii are great resources for researching what’s what with your pokemon, as they give literally every piece of info you could possibly need!

Smogon often has movesets and other resources battlers often use, a very useful site!

Shofu’s Channel a fairly rad battler that also has amusing commentary- watching some of his videos can give you an idea of what competitive battling can involve

Should this gain enough interest and participation, we have more plans for the future such as trial captains and greater and greater prizes for those who beat the league! Help us get started by finding our gym leaders so we can take the next step.
