what was to happen when a vow of as long as you both shall live was shortened to as long as she was content ? he could not have pictured it when they’d first wed - this bitter void that now lived between the pair of them .
still the children were the true victims of it all . named bastards through their father’s anger , they had lost both name and father all in one day .
❝ you bring me the children after so long ? ❞ words spoken through tight lips , eyes barely allowing themselves to focus on the young girls . ❝ and to what end , my dear ? have you not put them through too much already ? ❞
‘oh stop being so dramatic, loras,‘ evalista heaved a heavy sigh at her former husband’s penchant for theatrics. when will the man learn that his life was placed on a very real world and not a stage play at a theatre, that their lives were not written with a grandeur plot with a soft interlude. ‘the girls wanted to see their father, am i to say no to them? do you wish me to be the witch i am sure your family’s calling me behind my back to my children as well?’
‘i apologise to disappoint you but i am not in habit of being cruel to children. mine or otherwise.’
thing had never been alright between them. it started with a soft prelude in f minor, the eerie sound of thunderstrom, a premonition of the tragedy that awaited them. then it was a flurry of passion and loathing, so intense that they were blinded to the world around them. and now, now, what’s left was only a bitter scathing remark from one to another. there was no love left behind, and she almost believed that there was no love to begin with
‘i promised them to that they’d get to see their papa if they stay on their best behaviour and i intend to keep my words,’ she stared down at the two girls, entirely too used to the lack of affection between their parents. ‘though why they would want that is something i’d never understand. if you wish not to see them, you can tell them yourself, they are right here you know. they have ears, like us, and they can hear.‘
blergh am back...sorry for disappearing. i had a family's emergency and was completely overwhelmed. here again to have fun tho hehe
eva despised the thought of seeing loras again. it had been quite some time since she packed up her bag and left the seville estate, demanding a divorce and was granted with an annulment instead. rfom that moment, she saw the neves as a bunch of petty children, arrogant bunch who wanted to hold on to any speck of pride they could.
when death came to you at night, will pride be able to save you then? she mused begrudgingly in the carriage on her way back home, but it was never given voice.
‘here are your daughters,’ she said, unceremoniously, pushing two young girls into loras’s direction. evalista wouldn’t call their separation amicable, not even close, but their daughters had loved loras and she never spoke a word against him nor anything that might tarnish their adoration for him, and so they stayed loving him, unlike her. / @roseswiltd
‘your guards have been giving me a hard time when i just wanted to see the face of an old friend,’ eva ‘s words were laced with a slight laughter, almost inaudible, as she slipped past the doors towards aurora in her chambers. when she had first heard about the poisoning of the noble from arryndale, a thousand things ran past her head as she analyzed the situation, but when the noises had all calmed down, it was aurora that she thought of.
once a young girl tearing through the streets in nabar with herself, she had somehow found herself the queen of gondour, a most illustrious state. ‘well, i cannot blame them after what’s transpired here but i wanted to see for myself that you are unharmed.’ / @newcrowns
‘you would think death is inevitable, but they all acted so surprised, it’s appalling really,’ eva spoke softly to the woman next to her. the queen of gydina if she was not mistaken. she’d heard rumours about her, briefed about the important people that had gathered her in the grand castellum before her arrival, just to match names with faces and what topics to avoid to some.
‘if they couldn’t catch the culprit soon and deliver justice to them, whatever it might be, i don’t think it’ll look good for the ilyria at all,‘ though she said this, a small smile was playing on her face, as though she found that prospect more interesting no, amusing. / @gydinanqueen
carpevnum:
“Oh Eva,” he mimicked her, right to the tone, but with the most playful smile on his face. Something that could never be found in Evalista’s features. He couldn’t recall if he had ever seen Eva smiling like him, not even when they were younger, smaller, happier, and together. “What can I say, I live to please,” with a small bow, he took her hand and pressed a kiss on her skin in a practiced and graceful motion.
“I’ll stop throwing tantrums if you come back to my side,” he added, growling just a little and for a moment, his playfulness evaporated into air and his voice trembled just a bit with vexations. Amos still couldn’t believe Eva would choose Alonso and her whole family with them. He had wanted their support, their power, their famed loyalty for himself.
The first time he’d ever been declined and it happened one right after another. He’d be lying if he said it didn’t bother him.
“I need you, my dear, I always have…” Amos started, putting his hand on her shoulder as he guided them to a walk across the courtyard, “And you! Didn’t you always have my back? What changed, hm? Do I not love you enough? Give you enough gifts and presents?”
a scoff quickly followed his playful remark. amos carried himself with an air of boyish charm and effortless confidence, which she was certain, was the thing that won him the support of many within the court. he was magnetic, so she was told, and everyone wanted to be around him but once they had their eyes open to the truth of amos’s heart, his corrupted and shallow self, evalista was sure no one could ever find themselves to stand behind his causes.
it was what had happened to evalista and several other nobles who had joined alonso’s cause. she quickly pulled her hand away from his the moment she felt his warm lips on her skin. she had disliked men of amos’s disposition (such as loras, the only man she’d ever called husband, and the the last if she could have her way).
'must you be so cavalier, amos? you know that it is exactly that trait of yours, that .... thoughtlessness,’ she hissed the word, her words dripping with loathing. she loved amos but she had always disliked that side of him most vehemently and oh what a side that was, it almost consumed his whole entirety. ‘that caused the kingdom to be split in half in the first place. had you shown more ... tact and cared just a little bit of your people, none of this would had happened and the rocío would still be by your side..’
at this coaxing, the sweet promises of wealth and fortune, she only laughed most derisively; it was a bitter sound, and she lamented how blind amos was. ‘if you think you can lure me with pearls and diamonds, then maybe we were never friends to begin with. i want what’s good for this kingdom, and it is not you, you will plague it and being death to it, until there’s nothing left not even to rebuild.’
circaregnatcnat:
jade’s heart long ago had shattered , and jade had never fully regained its function . death was apart of life , who was to say that his time was not then ?
jade closed her eyes , loving how her skin reacted when her lady let down her hair . the small bumps on her skin and the small shiver down her back , it was almost as if she was getting a massage but somehow so much better . the lavender in the air was helping the queen relax , finally .
finally jade reached back , taking the other’s hand softly into her own . she shifted in her seat to be able to see eva . “ i will not allow anyone to harm you , ” she whispered softly to the other . “ you are my light , eva . my closest and dearest friend . ” it was a rare thing for jade to show , her shattered and battered heart . finally jade brought the other’s hand closer , kissing her palm softly before resting her cheek against it . she secretly hoped in that moment none of her own countrymen or woman would lose their lives for peace .
evalista could feel her lips curling into the faintest of smiles, so soft that one wouldn’t even think that it belong to a rocío’s face. but jade had gradually turn from a person she had to protect to a dear friend she wanted to protect in the times that they had spent together. eva knew of adela and never wanted to hurt her but she also wanted to see jade get what she and her husband both deserved, for it was also what this kingdom deserved.
with her free hand she stroked the queen’s head softly, and as she descended down to sit on the carpeted floor, pressed a small kiss on the top of jade’s head. her smile turned into something just a tad playful and her eyes gleamed in the dark of night. she had hoped that her vivacity would be enough to somehow....comfort and reassure jade in this trying times. ‘you know that it is not easy to hurt me. i am a rocío, jade, all we did since we came from our mother’s womb was survive,’ her fingers drew circles on jade’s skin as she held her hand in her two own’s.
having no mother nor a figure to offer her comfort in her reformative years made it hard for her to grasp what others did for comfort, but she learned to became more human as she stepped into the queen’s service, as the young queen gave her and taught her all the things that her father couldn’t have, wouldn’t have.
‘but jade, i see you as the same, and i want to fight for you. i need you to trust in me. you know i’m not a flower like you, rather, i’ve been told i’m like a weed,’ she laughed at the comparison with gaiety. ‘weeds are hard to kill, so i’d like to think i am too. let me fight for you, please,’ she kissed the ring on jade’s finger and directed the smile on her face at her. this was the queen she believed in, this light that she’d been blessed with, and she wanted to share it with the kingdom of nabar.
delictehearted:
“Well I suppose we don’t have to,” Anastasia was suddenly uncertain of her decision to even try and offer help. She’d been away from court so much that she wasn’t even sure she’d be able to help anyone or even know who everyone was.
“Perhaps it would be better that we stay out of their way,” She murmured slightly. She was desperate to help but if there were any serious problems then she’d likely just make a fool of herself. Which was something that she certainly didn’t need.
evalista paused at the dowager queen’s reaction. anastasia changed her opinion too quickly that it made evalista paused. she had known that the dowager queen had not led an easy life and her reaction might well be because of it. although the truth was certainly something she had not known yet, your life couldn’t had been easy if you were pronounced dead one day and alive the other. the former lady seville now wonder what sort of things she had seen, had done, had heard.
‘we CAN go to them, ma'am,’ evalista turned to look at the woman and waved towards the commotion that took place at the center floor, letting her know that she’s not making her do anything, but was open in her choices, in whatever the former queen decided. ‘you could try and help if you want to, and i can help you help them .... that is, if you wished for it. what do you want to do?’ eva emphasized her word, though they were still spoken with an softness that felt unfamiliar on her tongue.
she was not used to not knowing what she wanted. the queen’s reaction, her hesitancy, her little quirks of actions, was something she was entirely unfamiliar with and something she had only seen in her late mother before. would mother still be alive had she been a bit kinder? but she was a child then, and couldn’t fake a warm heart whilst still living inside the cold stoned mansion of the rocío’s.
kihena-of-nabar:
Kihena continued to stare blankly at Evalista, curious as to where all this entitlement of hers came from, especially when it tied in with Kihena’s reception of the older female. Was she supposed to wear her bleeding heart on her sleeve for Eva stab when she saw fit? She left the Neves household of her own volition, she is the one who severed whatever relationship that could have developed between them. Kihena did what anyone in her place would and that was move on. If her decision hurt Evalista in any way then her skin wasn’t as tough as she made it to be.
The duchess didn’t particularly care for the way Evalista spoke of King Amos, the manner in which she dropped all titles as if she had no proper education or clue of how one must act accordingly. It only added distaste to the image of her former sister in law. And yes, Amos could be childish at times but he had brought peace to Nabar, only for his brother to uproot all those efforts in a civil war. Perhaps Kihena had taken a bias because like him, she was high born and very spoiled. Attributes she didn’t consider negative, not in the world they lived in. Had she been lower class, her beliefs would have reflect that economical status. But she wasn’t, so they didn’t.
“At the very least, this is something you and I can agree on. Loras is a fool, a sentimental one. Indiscretions aside, you made a promise, one that was false judging from your feelings about King Amos. So why would I give any more of myself to you when I have no idea who you are? Let us do ourselves a favor and forget we are family. I rather you be a stranger, capable of stabbing me in the back instead of calling you anything familiar. Now if you excuse me, I need fresh air.” Kehina concluded, walking away.
kihena’s blank look served as little entertainment to evalista. she had enjoyed quick burst of wits, words thrown back and forth between people. it was how she enjoyed herself but the young duchess seemed a vacuous, vapid little thing the more she spent time with her. it had seemed that she could not serve as a mental stimulation for evalista nor anything else.
HOW DROLL ! her mind screamed in frustration. it had really seemed that she overestimated the younger woman, to think that they could have a spar but the other was too invested in herself or too preoccupied in keeping up facades like a true seville. well she really did belong in that family, that’s one thing that eva could say for sure.
‘i made no such thing with loras, we married but we never made any promises to be together until death did us part. if anything he had broken vows first, but of course, you overlooked that. unsurprising, knowing where you’re inclined to in your disposition and overview in life,’ she resisted the urge to roll her eyes. it was easy to blame the women in this society who hated them, it was done even by their fellows and it surprised her no more.
‘oh i don’t need to be a stranger to stab you in the back, dear. but you already know i’m capable of that,’ eva added, her voice teasing the other, laced with laughter at the thought of how much kihena had hated this side of her. evalista liked getting a stir out of someone, perhaps it wasn’t right for her to, but since when had she cared about right and wrong? she fed off from these negative emotion, it amused her, it ticked something inside of her. watching kihena leave, she gave a little nod at the other, never forgetting her manners ( the very few things her mother had passed on to her ), and smiled at the thought of how ruffled the other had become. ‘until we see each other again, sister.’

ANNE BOLEYN THE TUDORS (2007 — 2010)
mary queen of scots ( ruled by sagittarian nature, possessed a fiery personality. known to be stubborn and perseverant as well as impulsive ), eva rodriguez ( the class rebel, who is not afraid to talk back to the teacher to defend her friends. she is passionate and never lost herself and her integrity ), morrigan ( resourceful and highly independent, she cynically values power and autonomy ), hurrem sultan ( smart, ambitious, charismatic, and brave, she’s willing to do everything in her power to get what she wants ), morgan le fay ( an enchantress and a villain to some, a healer and a heroine to others. a woman shrouded in mystery and inconsistency however her intelligence is indisputable ), hera ( passionate, zealous, and protective, however can be very vindictive if crossed and will show jealousy, obstinacy and a quarrelling disposition that sometimes makes her own husband tremble ), ada wong ( very opportunistic, and isn't above skirting the edge of the law to get her way, one might wonder for whose side she’s really working for ), dropadi ( her immeasurable strength and courage has often been tested but she always comes out victorious ).
goldncrowns:
“Everyone implies something, even if they don’t mean to. That’s the way politics work, no one’s words have one meaning.” Mikhail was a warrior through and through, his father made sure of that. But he was also raised to be king, he had to have a mind for politics or he’d be no better than a fool with a crown. A humorless laugh escaped him, “You’d be in line to say anything to my father if you could. I imagine everyone here would have at least one word for him.” It seemed the return of his mother had made the rounds already. Not that he thought it would stay within his court for very long anyway.
“There are many plans in play that aren’t known to those outside of the Iilyrian court. We know our duty and what peace could take.” At her mention of Nebar he almost laughed, a land that played both sides then fell apart to it’s own fighting. He didn’t have much faith in their split country right now. But he’d hear her none the less. “Nabar has made its own share of enemies as well, they fought against people along with Iilyria before their break. Not to mention it’s own civil war.” That lead to interesting conversations, she wanted something, that was clear. She was playing a game, if he didn’t know better he’d think the woman from Gondour.
“I am first curious what sway you have with the court that you could propose anything for your king. Or are you talking setting up a meeting?” he paused, “Which is your king by the way?”
‘he’s not a very well - liked man, as i’m sure you would be inclined to agree,’ she added, arching her eyebrows at the thought of the late king of ilyria made her question the whole concept of a monarchy, the very system of governing that let an unstable and lunatic man to sit on the throne and RUIN lives. the thought roamed free in her mind, how such a system should be stripped down, how a kingdom should instead be ruled by someone capable not just someone who happened to be the son or the daughter of the previous ruler. but then again, what would a KINGDOM be without kings?
‘our war is farcical, you can laugh at that,’ she had laughed at that too, found it ridiculous that amos would even try to claim the crown for himself. ‘amos is not a man who i think have the making of a good ruler. i’m sure anyone who knew him woudl agree. however since he is the son the late queen, many thought that he should sit on the throne. i do not want to watch my country fall to ruination, like your father did to yours. i do not wish for the next crowned king to sit in the throne to have to suffer the consequences of their father’s actions like you.’
evalista might have dian’s wit and the snake’s cunning nature. she could lie and wove stories as much as she liked, but right now, she had decided that honesty would be the bets route to take with mikhail. ‘i am of house rocío, your majesty,’ her house name was said with pride as she dipped into a graceful curtsy, and when she looked at the king again, her eyes was steady as a rock. ‘our house might not be a dukedom, but we hold power within our kingdom, we have military power and we have been trusted by generations of our kings to deal with ... things, that needed handling,’ a ghost of a smile, she knew that the king was no fool, and knew the dark dealings of her family by now and what role they played in nabar. ‘i guess you could say that we headed all manners of stately security before our kingdom fell apart.’
‘i stand by the king alonso and i can assure you that my voice will be heard by the queen and the king. i tell you now that they would be very gracious to you should they have your ... support in their claim and win this inheritance battle.’
the downside of a game of honesty was that you’re laid bare and evalista hated that, but to give this man in front of her anything but the honest truth ... she deigned it an undignified act.
kihena-of-nabar:
“I am not bitter. Disappointed, maybe. Expectant, yes but I am not bitter. Our ties with one another have never been as closely woven to state such bold declarations. Just how you chose to stand with your family, I shall continue to do so with mine. And do not speak to me about blind allegiance when you’re adamant about your own, using it to serve a purpose you see fit while looking down at the rest of us.” Kehina rebuffed, feeling heat rise above her collar and spread across her cheeks. She hated hypocrisy, the manner in which Evalista and those like her looked down on their king as if they weren’t puppets as well, moving when someone else said to. Wasn’t that how she came to be in the Neves household in the first place? Kehina wanted to laugh, instead she kept quiet, allowing the hurricane that formed within her to lash about.
How ironic—that she was being chastised for her own decisions when it was clear the older of the two couldn’t make her own. Not of her own free will anyway. Which was further insult to Kehina. Despite her sex, the duchess had been raised to believe she could do anything and thanks to her mother, who had given her the strength to do what was best for herself and not her household, Kehina did just that. “You are correct, I would choose my husband. Not because it’s a long standing tradition nor because of my parents. But because it is what’s best for me and the future I see for myself. I have that liberty. I have always had it since birth. And if I choose differently, it is because of me and no one else. Can you say the same?”
‘first you criticize my loyalty, now, as i’ve refuted you, you move on to something else. i’ve had a feeling that you never like me, and i think i am quite right. if you think it is by blind loyalty to my house that i chose this side, then you are dearly wrong, my kihena. my family knows of amos. i know of amos, grew up with him, i watched him intimately with these eyes. i know that he’s just an entitled boy who thinks he deserves the world without putting any work behind it,’ as much as she had loved amos, and she still did, he was a useless boy and he’s going to turn into a useless king.
‘i can the same because i have done it. i chose to stand with my family and with my house but only because i have all the facts i needed to have come to this decision. unlike you, who thought that a man like amos who preferred to chase skirts than learn how to be a great ruler, is fit to be KING. that’s laughable, dear sister,‘ the queen was just a noble, anyway, any women could replace her, it was the king’s blood that bespoke of one’s legitimacy in evalista’s eyes, and the king alonso HAD that.
she sighed, and gave smile that dripped of nothing but venom. ‘it seemed that i gave you too much credit and it seemed that in the year we shared together, you have never shed your set prejudice on me, and you couldn’t bother getting to know me at all and continued to look down on me. my family is indispensable, EVERYONE needed someone to do their dirty jobs for them, even kings and queens. you will soon learn of this.’
‘my former - husband loras is a cheating bastard and a drunken fool, but at least he tried to see things from the other’s side, and whatever decision he had come to, though i do not agree, i respect it. the more we speak to each other, the more i think that i can’t extend the same sentiment to you.’
‘oh amos, how lovely to see you again, sober for a change. has the horrible tragedy shaken you up to sobriety or are you actually using your head for once and decided to grace the court with a semblance of manner?’ evalista greeted her old friend. once children, they used to tore through the castle garden, the maze-like design that felt like magic through their young eyes.
though, evalista supposed the magic stayed still in amos’s eyes — he saw the world through a dream, a drunken stupor, a comedic idealism. and evalista? well, hers was ripped away almost prematurely and very much willingly by her own two hands. ‘it had been too long, i had hoped you’d come to your senses by now and stopped throwing tantrum because for once in your life someone said no to your little whims and wants.’ / @carpevnum
@dayliqhts
jade + evalista
it had been a long night . by the time evalista was helping jade undress she was sure she would fall over , her knees ached and her feet were throbbing . she couldn’t even think of adding a bath to tonight’s events . finally she sat on her vanity’s chair . “ i’m not sure i wish to stay , ” she began , looking to eva through the mirror . “ i do not wish to be next . ”
the murder had not been taken kindly to those of soft hearts, those whose eyes were not accustomed to the sight of life ripped viciously from its fleshly cage. evalista herself had been forced to come to terms with it at a very young age. dear father thought it would be best for eva to took the life of her sickly pet bird with her own hands, to end its suffering, he’d said.
as for her queen, well — this simply wasn’t the case. she let her fingers undo the hair arrangement she had carefully styled just this morning for her, and let her expression soften in front of jade. ‘you need not worry, your majesty. your husband will not let anything happen to you and before that, i would never let anything happen to you, not touch a strand of your hair or the tips of your fingers.’
she took a comb in her hand and to comb through the fiery red hair and she had done so many times she coming to jade’s service. ‘i know it is hard for you, but it’s no more difficult than the battle we face back home and i believe you can overcome this. you’re a strong queen and woman, jade.’
delictehearted:
“Oh god,” Anastasia was conflicted. Years ago she may have rushed into the fray to try and help but she wasn’t anywhere near secure enough in her position there to think that her help would be very welcome, if at all. She hesitated for a moment before taking the hand which was offered to her.
“I don’t know, perhaps it is not as bad as they fear, there are many injuries to get with dancing,” Anastasia murmured taking a few steps forward. “Shall we go to help?”
'do we have to?’ she let her true thought slip, not by accident. rarely anything done by her was by accident. ‘i don’t have much skills with first aid or dealing with injuries, but should you want to help them, dowager queen, then perhaps i could assist you.’
it wouldn’t cost her anything after all, and it might present her in a good light in the dowager queen’s eyes. who knew how much power she held in her own court, of how much sway she held against her own children. but investing in people never hurt anyone, it never hurt evalista, for sure. and though she hated to admit it, the kind light in the dowager queen anastasia’s eyes touched something in her, something that perhaps once in a lifetime ago she would had liked to see in her own mother. instead she was weak and frail and had nothing in her eyes but the frost of northern nabar winters.
