Recording Namahousous on Nico Nico Douga
A guide
Namaroku and Kakoroku are great programs for recording on Nico. The quality is as good as the original stream. Comments don’t cover the video, but they are downloaded in a separate file, and can be viewed when played in Nicoplayer or Himatan Player. Namaroku is for live programs, and kakoroku is for timeshifted ones.

Namaroku and Kakoroku
http://com.nicovideo.jp/community/co310049
You should join this community. The downloads can now be found by going to “掲示板” and finding posts 6557-6562.
Go back several pages using the numbers at the top or bottom until you get to the page with post numbers 6557 through 6562. 6557 is namaroku, 6558 is kakoroku, and the rest are other downloads.
You should be taken to a page with a link that says “click here to start download” in English. If not, try going back and refreshing the page.
Last, extract the folders to wherever is convenient.
In order for Namaroku to work with users’ namas rather than just official ones, you’ll need to replace a certain file.
The one you need is the one titled “rtmpdump.zip.” All you need to do is unzip it, put the file in the namaroku folder, and replace the old file.

Himatan Player

Click the one that says “Version 1.0をダウンロード”
Note (1/3/13): In order to record, you must go to the control panel on your computer and change the language for non-Unicode programs to Japanese.
Namaroku
Namaroku records live streams on Nico Nico Douga.
“namaroku.exe” will allow you automatically record namas, after navigating to the お気に入り・NG設定 tab, from a certain community (now the first tab) or user (second). You may also enter the link to one specific program in the third tab. The fourth tab is for programs of a certain keyword. Make sure that once you add something, you check 録画 to record the video stream. The tabs in order starting with ポップアップ are Pop-up, Balloon, Web, E-mail, Sound (doesn’t record sound, just plays one to notify you), Record, Application A, Application B, Application C, and Memo. As long as the program is running, it should do whatever you have checked.
“namarokuRecorder.exe” is quick for if you know the exact link and the program is currently streaming. All you have to do is paste it in and it will start recording. It can also be accessed from the main program by going to ツール(T) and clicking Recorderを起動する®.
Logging in can be done from namarokuRecorder, the smaller window. Go to ツール(T), オプション(O), and then the second tab アカウント設定. From there, you can choose to either sync the information with your browser or type it in. Logging in through Chrome is not recommended. Note that if you type in your information directly, you’ll be logged out of Nico in your browser when you record something. Logging in again will not stop the recording.
The top area used for syncing with your browser. The bottom area is used to log in directly. Please be sure to select the button that corresponds with the method you choose.
Kakoroku
Note: as of 4/28/13, due to some changes made on Nico, only official free programs can be recorded, no user ones.
6/13/13: The same is true depending on where you live. You can work around it though a proxy. It seems like kind of guessing as to what will work, though, as far as I can tell. (A French one and a Korean one have worked for me…)
Updated method after the description
Kakoroku is good for recording timeshifted broadcasts. You will either need to reserve to timeshift the program ahead of time or be a premium member. In order to record, you’ll need to log in to Nico in the program. You can do this by going to ツール(T), オプション(O), and then the second tab アカウント設定. Then you can either use what is in your browser or type it. Again, it will log you out when you record something if you type it in, but logging back in won’t stop the recording.
To record, paste in the link, and then press the button on the right that says 録画開始 to start recording. If you want to record more than one, enter in the second link and add it to the to the list with the button on the left, 録画リスト追加.
If you get the error “録画できません:require_accept_print_timeshift_ticket,” it means that you can only timeshift once. This is common for official programs such as Nicoraji. Go to the broadcast page and click the button to watch it. Once you click the red button, you will have 24 hours to watch and record.
If the recording is split into multiple files, and one does not record, giving the error “ERROR: rtmp server sent error, ERROR: rtmp server requested close”, this is what you can do. Paste the url into the box as normal, and then add a comma and the number that did not record to the end, and then start recording. For example, it should look like this “http://live.nicovideo.jp/watch/lv******,2”. You can do more than one at a time like this like this. “http://live.nicovideo.jp/watch/lv******,2,4” will record the second and fourth, for example. (added 2/11/13)
How to Record Timeshifted User Broadcasts with kakoroku
http://ch.nicovideo.jp/nico-lab/blomaga/ar8759
This information is completely from the above.
This is using kakoroku 1.5.4
http://com.nicovideo.jp/community/co310049
Download “rtmpdump-2.4-git-20131007_20131123.zip” from this link
http://nht.r.ribbon.to/
Rename the file downloaded to something else such as “rtmpdumpTS” and place in the kakoroku folder
Open kakoroku
Go to Tools (T)>Options (O)
Go to the last tab, rtmp指定
In the bottom section, ユーザー放送, uncheck both of the boxes
In the first blank created, set it to lead to the file you just placed in the folder
For example, like this:
C:\Users\Name\Videos\kakorokuRecorder154\rtmpdumpTS.exe
To the right of the second blank, click “入力フォーム”
Click “指定1”
Change “-r” at the beginning to say “-vr”
Say OK to accept the changes and go back to the main kakoroku window
Now you should be able to record user broadcasts
If the program is split and the later files fail, manually record each one by typing the number at the end after a comma like this:
lv123456789,2 for second file
lv123456789,3 for third
etc.
Playback
The default place for recorded videos to be saved is the “Rec” subfolder in the main Kakoroku or Namaroku folder.
Nicoplayer will allow you to playback comments. If you click on the comment button, a new box to show the comments will pop up. It may automatically import the comments when you play the video. If not, drag the .xml file to the comment box.
Himaplayer will also show comments. This one can also show the comments flying across the screen as it does on NND. It’s also simpler than Nicoplayer.
The videos can be played without comments in other video players. However, some don’t work with programs recorded with Namaroku for me. It may just be me, though.
