Braid! (For Beryl 🏵)
DB sat patiently and relaxed as she felt Beryl comb through her hair.
“This is nice. Just us two sitting at the beach and doing each others hair… Thanks again for braiding my hair! I promise I will figure out how to braid your hair!” DB said with a determined grin.
Beryl chuckled lightly as her fingers moved through her friend’s hair,
“It really is! It’s been far too long since we were able to spend time like this without anyone interrupting,”
She smiled and laced small flowers from a nearby pile into DB’s red locks.
“Good luck!” She snorted out, “i dont know mow much you can do with this all, but you can try all you like as soon as this one’s done,”
DB hummed contently. She had a few ideas already, she was just excited to try them out.
The smaller gem began to look around, it truly was a beautiful day. There were little to no clouds in the sky, the ocean looked astounding as it shined and glimmered wonderful blues and greens. The Earth really was very beautiful…
“Hey Beryl, this might be a strange question but, what do you make of the Earth?” the smaller piped up.
“Earth?” She sat back and thought, pausing her braiding for a moment before resuming, “It’s not like any other planet I’ve ever seen…”
Beryl laced a single large hibiscus into the tail of DB’s hair as she tied off the braid. She did see the natural beauty of the planet… or, she’d grown to see it. The oceans and forests were lovely, and she really did love the plants, but…
“I’m glad that it didn’t get turned into a colony in the end,” Beryl handed a mirror to her friend as she admired her own work, “I guess we’re stuck here no matter how you look at it,” She chuckled lightly.
Dragon had been on the planet for longer than she had- or at least she hadn’t been trapped in a bubble for 5000 years! How did she feel about this place they were trapped on?
“You seem to enjoy it here though, right?”
DB studied her friends handiwork with a large smile.
She studied every flower that was in her new braid as she listened to Beryl.
“Stuck here sure does sound right...” DB said quietly to herself with a sad smile.
She looked at Beryl with a small smile at her question and shrugged. Sure, she had grown to love Earth. It was beautiful and fascinating to no end. DB even learned how to be happy again! It breaks her heart to think about what life would have been like if she didn’t get stuck on Earth and make all of the amazing friends she has now, but still...
“I’m also glad the Earth was spared, and I do enjoy it here. The Earth is so fascinating and full of life. There’s so many possibilities and new forms of life are emerging everyday!” The smaller gems eyes were stars as she spoke. She then sighed and looked up at the sky a bit sadly.
“Even though I love the Earth, I still want to go home...”
After a moment, DB stood up, dusted herself off and turned to Beryl with a large smile.
“It’s time for me to do your hair now!”
