why do you avoid rowoon so much?
“ i don’t really know how to deal with pain, so … i guess i avoid it. ”
do you feel like there is something holding you back in life?
“ sure. i mean, obstacles are part of life, right? it’s overcoming them that i gotta work on. ”
do you like talking to the dead?
“ sometimes. it’s all the company i’ve ever known. it’s the fucked up ones that get you … fucked up. ”
“ah, thank you,” he said giggling along with him, shoving him softly for the un-solicited compliment. he smiled as the other took the flowers back, noticing the others face of disapproval, “don’t be sorry, daeki…i know you don’t mean to, you can’t help it and that’s okay.” taijin’s pink lips turned down at the corners, he hated that daeki often had to miss out on the smallest things because of his powers, even something as simple as holding flowers. “it’s alright okay?”
daeki giggled harder in response to the shove, finding tai’s attempt to be violent even more adorable. he ruffled his hair a little. “ i can’t help it, but i wish i could. ” he mumbled with a slight pout, lifting his hand to play with the flowers, but upon realising it would only cause more damage, he let it drop to his side while letting a defeated sigh escape his lips. still, he nodded, and forced a smile. “ yeah. i guess. ” he managed weakly.
hearing daeki’s poor attempt at words coming out of slumber pulled a giggle from tai-jin’s lips as he opened the door to his room, shutting it behind him. “aww, did you have a bad night hyung?” taijin cooed playing with the sleeves of his too-big sweater that went well past his finger tips. he came over to the side of the elder’s bed, combing his fingers through his dark locks tsking before climbing in next to him. “i’m here now okay? it’ll be just fine but you have to promise you wont go back to sleep.” taijin knew that daeki’s nights could be just as bad as his, taunted by the hidden figures of their powers preventing them from getting adequate rest, he knew how much of a toll it took, but taijin was also selfish and wanted his best friends attention.
daeki strained his eyes trying to open them wider in order to look at the other who was entering his room. squinting, he looked up at taijin and scrunched his hands needily. he let out a satisfied sigh while wearing a smile as the smaller boy laid next to him. “ mm, i won’t. ” he mumbled, wrapping his arms around tai and resting his head on his chest, intertwining his fingers with the younger’s as he snuggled up to him. “ sorry i forgot you were coming. i really couldn’t sleep until really late. ” he whispered, knowing that the other understood completely. daeki did feel bad for not waking up ready for tai to arrive, but he was still shaken from all the things that had kept him awake the night before. he was grateful that taijin understood, more than anyone did.
“how is it? like talking to them? you know, sometimes i want to talk to my mom, i see her sometimes, well i used to. when i lived back home…i used to hate that i couldn’t talk to her, and she’d just look at me like she was so sad, and i tried once, and it just ended up with me past out on my bedroom floor with a nose bleed.” he frowned a bit shaking his head, “it’s like there’s a block or something, but either way….calling you that wasn’t….it wasn’t okay, and even worse that yo were taunted growing up, i’m sorry.” he bit into his bottom lip, “people here shouldn’t though, everyone can do some real weird shit their first instinct shouldn’t be to judge you or call you crazy, with out even asking at least what you can do you know ?”
“ it’s ... i can’t really explain. sometimes it’s nice, like when i see my sister or old people who tell me all about the lives they lived. but then, death can be scary. it can be gruesome. and when you can do what i do, there’s no escaping that. ” he tried his best to explain, shivering at the mental images of the many traumatising things he had seen before. “ but, it’s all i’ve known. i grew up in a mental home where people kept to themselves, so talking to dead people is all i’ve ever done. ” daeki nodded, sympathising with the other. he couldn’t imagine what it would have been like being able to see his sister, but not talk to her. “ you know, i can try and summon her. ” he suggested. “ i might end up the same as you, but at least you would be able to talk. ” daeki ended with a shrug. he had only ever summoned one spirit before, and the bond between them was strong, so it was a lot easier, but it did end with daeki unconscious for a while. it took a lot out of him, but it seemed like a nice thing to do for someone he considered a friend. “ it’s just ... i was so young when i was told i was crazy and sent away, and since then, that’s all anybody ever saw me as. i’m used to it, but i like to think that things are different here. ”
Minyi took a moment then grinned a big one. “Here” Giving the male a towel. “Sorry, I haven’t quite got the hang of keeping them like that for awhile..” Minyi pouted. “But they were extremely cute.”
“ thanks. ” he nodded, taking the towel and throwing it over his head, scrubbing at his hair in order to dry it quickly. “ that’s okay, control is hard to have. ” daeki said, knowing the struggle all to well. “ they were cute. i can summon dead people? i guess that’s ... less cute. ” he shrugged.
anisuli:
it wasn’t very often that suli was found in the cafeteria, she’d done good in teaching herself how to cook, and even though she wasn’t anything near a picky eater, she’d still rather eat her favourite dishes cooked by herself than the ones offered by the cafeteria - cooking was relaxing, allowing her mind to think of nothing other than keeping her fingers; but in that particular day her hangover was too bad and too persistent for her to be bothered with quality food, her feet taking her to the cafeteria before she could think about it. when there, though, all the female could get herself to place on her tray was a red apple. sighing she looked around for a table to sit down at, settling on one once she spotted daeki chatting away. suli placed her tray on the table before sliding onto the seat next to daeki’s, “ please tell me i’m not sitting in someone. “ she’d only thought of the possibility after sitting down, but the possibility was enough to make her shiver.
daeki looked up curiously as he noticed a figure approach him, smiling brightly as his eyes met suli. he greeted her with a hello, moving along his tray so that she had more room. “ no. ” he shook his head with a giggle. “ someone is sat across from us, though. ” he told her, gesturing to the seemingly empty seat. daeki took another bite of his ramen, eyeing suli’s tray. “ is that all you’re gonna eat ? ” he asked, an element of concern in his tone. the two weren’t exactly close, but nobody really needed to be for daeki to care about them. he grew instantly attached to everyone he met ( possibly something that came from being so deprived of friends as he grew up ), and suli was no exception.
chae nodded, he could see her bright as day, as if she was a really person just joining their table. his powers consisted of those of the four horsemen of the apocalypse one of them being death, and with that, his connection to the spirit world was strong though his communication was limited. “ i mean, i can, but it’s hard…like it takes a lot out of me because i don’t practice enough. like, i can hear her, just as any human could hear a ghost whispering in their home if they allow it but, trying to talk back across the realms, it’s a lot….” he frowned slightly, he hated that he couldn’t when he was younger, he wanted to talk to his mother many times and for a long time he couldn’t even hear her either. he shifted uncomfortably in his seat, chae knew a fake smile when he saw one, he had been flashed those many times in the media entertainment world. “i-i didn’t mean to offend you… i-crazy wasn’t even the right word, i honestly thought you were like mind hopping or something..like talking to other people in their heads, i’m sorry…” he bit into his bottom lip, feeling a bad about bad his choice of words.
daeki couldn’t help his excitement as he learned about the other. all his life, it had just been him alone with what others could only ever see as the ‘voices in his head’. to think that someone could actually see them too, and could actually believe him without a single doubt that they were there, was incredible. it had never happened before, and honestly, he was grateful. “ i can talk to her! i talk to them a lot. i grew up with them, you know! if you ever want to say anything to them ... i can help with that. ” he offered with a smile and an excited nod. daeki hung his head shyly for a moment, regretting that he had made the other feel bad. “ it’s okay, chae, really. i got called ... that ... a lot when i was growing up. i guess i’m just sensitive to it. ” he chuckled weakly. “ i can see why people think i am. honestly, i’ve stopped trying to pretend i’m normal. ” he said with a shrug.

taijin made his was to daeki’s dorm, bags full of various snacks and drinks in hand. they had reserved free saturday mornings for movies and snacks, each of them bringing a movie or two that the other hadn’t seen before to keep things interesting. he had lived for these saturdays, like recently, sometimes work or other school activities had him busy these mornings, leaving little time for him and the other to hang out, and as close as they were, it often made tai a little sad. maybe his clinginess of actually having a close friend for the first time in awhile was to blame but not seeing daeki for long periods really put a damper on his mood. he smiled brightly as he opened the waiting unlocked door, “honey i’m home!” he said with a giggle setting the bags of snacks on the couch before making his way to daeki’s bedroom door and knocking. “hyung, please come love me.”
daeki had had a rough time the night before. night-time was usually the worst for him, since that was when the bad spirits always wanted to play. it kep him up for a while, blasting music in a desperate attempt to drown them out. he hadn’t gotten to sleep easily, but he eventually did. although, it had led to him sleeping in, completely forgetting that he was supposed to spend the morning with taijin. his eyes fluttered open as he heard the commotion of the other, realising that he had slept in. the boy groaned, stretching in his bed before calling back to the other in his hoarse tone. “ yah. ” he whined needily, hoping it would be enough of a ‘come in’ to make tai open the door. “ come and love me instead. ” he said sleepily, opening up his arms with his blanket and gesturing for tai to join.
taijin giggled as his friend kissed his skin, wrapping his arms around him in response, “you’re welcome hyung,” tai said softly, the pink in his cheeks unmoving. he pursed his lips frowning as he watched the flowers whither and die in daeki’s hand, nothing he was unused to it happened a lot and tai always felt sorry for him, “on here wait,” he smiled brightly pulling his back pack to his front and removing his scarf he had in it’s from yesterday before pointedly wrapping it around the stem of the remaining flowers, “better? and i can put them in a vase for you later so you don’t have to touch them yeah?”
“ you’re so cute. ” he giggled, pinching the other’s pink cheek lightly. daeki held the flowers away from him, although they were still in his hand, as if he was trying to make it better by making them further away. he watched with disappointment as taejin wrapped the scarf around them, though he managed a weak smile at his efforts. “ thanks. ” he mumbled, taking them back in the scarf and being happy that . “ i’m sorry i kill them every time. ” he bowed his head, scratching his neck sheepishly.
jxnsoo:
Jin’s eyes scanned the cafeteria as he looked for a familiar face to sit with. Unfortunately, he had no luck and walked aimlessly. “Is this seat taken?” He had noticed Daeki talking to himself as he searched for a place in the cafeteria, and assumed that he would want a companion. “So you like ramen…” He chuckled nervously before extending his hand out for the other to shake. “I’m Jinsoo, but you can call me Jin.”
daeki glanced at the other, eyes shifting between him in the spirit as he was about to sit on her lap. he motioned with his head for the girl to move, which she reluctantly did before the boy sat down. “ yeah, i like ramen. that’s why i’m eating it. ” he spoke, his lack of filter making him seem ruder than he intended. “ i’m daeki, you can call me ... daeki. ” he nodded, shaking the other’s hand.
sohn-chae:
chae looked up from his meal looking between daeki and the figure, “waaaaiit you can see them too?” chae knew daeki had similar powers as him, though since his was divided into four beings it was a little limited, he could see the apparitions, but talking to them took a great deal of power and drained him physically, “all this time daeki i really just though you were bat shit crazy,”
“ you can see her ? ” he asked in total surprise. nobody had ever been able to see what he saw. daeki had never been able to share that experience with anybody. he knew what chae’s power was, but in reality, daeki had no idea what the four horsemen even were, so when the other told him, he simply nodded and said it was cool to save his own embarrassment. “ can’t you talk to her, too ? ” he asked. daeki’s jae clenched slightly, the word ‘crazy’ causing a pain in his chest that he, at first, struggled to hide. over years of torment, he had grown sensitive to that word. he hated it, and he hated being called it, but the boy wore a smile anyway, forcing a chuckle as he nodded. “ i mean, i am. you’re not wrong. ” he shrugged.
daeki was sat in the cafeteria, his table seemingly empty to onlookers. to others, it seemed that the boy was sat alone, talking to himself. to him, he was talking to someone sitting in front of him. a dead someone, whom only he could see, but a someone nonetheless. “ it’s not my fault you can’t eat anymore. ” he shrugged, listening to the other’s complaints. “ i don’t blame you, though. i would miss ramen, too. ” he continued the conversation, giggling as the spirit pouted. daeki had never cared about seeming strange to others. the company of ghosts was all he ever had, so he didn’t mind it much, even if others distanced themselves from him because of it.
Minyi was alone in the courtyard, near the water fountain. She was just playing around with water to distress and make some light constructs. “I wonder if I could make a water gun, but I’d like not to faint again..” Chuckling at the baby rabbits she made with water. Until, she accidentally wet someone. “Oh my! I’m deeply sorry, I shouldn’t of been messing around!”
“ oh my god. ” daeki gasped as the water drenched his head, the coldness knocking the breath out of him for a moment. it was his own fault, really. he had found the bunnies interesting and started playing with them, until one of them burst right above his head. daeki wore a smile, waving the other off. “ it’s okay. they were really cute. ”
Hoon Min knows that it’s against the rules to use your abilities on campus when it’s not pertaining to inside classroom work or practice with instructors, but he can’t help himself. His back is beginning to get the familiar, faint aching sensation that gets worse and worse as the days go on. His wings have been begging him for some form of relief, so as soon as he finishes his last class of the day he goes to one of the quieter, more reclusive parts of the campus, before stripping off his blazer. He keeps his shirt on, not wanting to take it off and risk anyone seeing the scars that line his body. Which is exactly why all of his shirts have two slits on the back, large enough for his wings to come through. He pauses and takes a look around, making sure the coast was clear, before he rolled his shoulders and his wings slowly but surely began pushing outwards until they were in their full form, spreading tall and wide. He lets out a sigh of relief, letting them flap slightly to loosen up a bit. It’s not until his enhanced hearing picks up the sound of footsteps that he turns around, a frown on his lips. “D-Don’t tell anyone,” he says as soon as he sees the other person. “I know w-we’re not supposed t-to use out p-powers, but..” He can’t think of an explanation, so he just trails off, his wings falling slightly much like a dog’s ears when they know they’ve done something wrong.
exploring, daeki had found, was in his nature. being locked up for his entire life had changed the boy in many ways. it has made him incredibly curious and adventurous, wanting to explore every part of the island he could in order to see new places and learn new things. he wasn’t used to his schedule yet, or the responsibility of having to attend classes. currently, the boy was skipping class without even knowing it, but at this moment, having fun was more important. as he turned the corner, the sight before him made his jaw drop. daeki tried his best to be silent, though it seemed the other could hear him anyway. “ it’s okay, i won’t tell ! ” he reassured the other quickly. daeki suddenly grinned, staring in awe. “ these are super cool ! ” he said excitedly, approaching the other. “ can i touch them? do they hurt? can you actually fly with these ? ” he fires question after question, the curiosity taking over him.
