Flourish and Blotts was abnormally empty this time of the year. No students could be seen buzzing about, looking for their required books of the term, it was calm and quiet - Quiet in a sense that wasnât comforting, quiet like the calm before the storm. Quiet, like the impending sense of doom before the chaos begins. How wrong she was to think that Diagon Alley wouldâve been a good source of comfort from the elephant in the room that lingered in the Ashton household; Her father and mother both have been absent more frequently, the suspicion, almost terrifying to think about. Which is why despite everything that had been happening, she found herself here, in Flourish and Blotts, shopping for school supplies. However, just when she thought that the empty bookstore couldnât be more depressing, she spots a familiar facade in the corner amongst the bookshelves, wild unmistakable untamable curls that could only be none other than Hermione Granger, the brightest witch of their year. A smile curls upon her lips, a genuine smile, not the sinister kind that was looking for trouble. She healed no prejudices towards the muggleborn, or any muggleborns at that matter, a known defect in her code against most Slytherins. Instantly, She makes her way toward the brunette.Â
âNot surprising to find you here at all, Granger.â
Hermione needed comfort. That was for sure through her facade and number of breakdowns sheâs had in the past couple days, but she couldnât let others know that for sure. Growing up, she had her moments, but now, she wants to make sure she doesnât look fragile and sensitive to people as much as she did back in their first year. So, she reaches to books if she canât reach to someone else, something that she always finds comfort in. Looking at the titles in the shelves, she bits the inside of her cheek, concentrated on walking around and finding something to keep her mind off for now when she hears someone approaching and instantly turns around to face.Â
âOh, hello.â she greets with a nod. â I reckon itâs the place someone needs to look first if they ever want to find me for sure. But, I have to say, itâs a bit surprising for you to be here as well.â
