It has been a year since the Attica Tsunami. It is now September 10, 2025. Much has changed.
Mortal-divine tensions have largely eased. In the immediate wake of the tsunami, a group of gods sent aid to Attica, which helped to lessen the extensive damages faced by the city. Moods changed drastically, calming the victims of the disaster and opening their minds to the aid of the gods. Poseidon has demonstrated some commitment to ensuring the safety of mortals from maritime disasters like tsunamis, and has managed to bring many mortals back to his side. Shrines to the gods of Olympus are popping up worldwide. We have friends everywhere.
However, though the mortals were eventually satisfied with the Olympian response to the tsunami, they remain favorable toward the technological tools that first warned them of the impending crisis. The Deus ex Machina data centers have been rebuilt since the tsunami, and the clanker is now back to full operating capacity. However, many mortals no longer view the gods and DEM as mutually exclusive; instead, they seek harmony between the mechanical and the divine.
On the topic of harmony, however, there seems to be something of a loose cannon within the council. The culprit of the murder of 422,000 Redditors was determined to have been Apollo, who had also been mobilising Oracles and the sun chariot in a successful attempt to rule by fear. Given that Apollo failed to mention his culpability in a mass murder that cast severe doubt upon the benevolence of the council and weakened its influence in mortal spheres, Apollo was found guilty of breaking the Oath upon the River Styx and impeached with haste.
The matters of apotheosis and domain redefinition remain largely untouched by a troublingly inert and lethargic council. But perhaps all is about to change once more, as a man with nothing but a white shirt and a microphone takes a seat under a tent in Utah...
